Nikon Coolpix 5200 - two-thirds off! Just £100 Back in Stock - CLOSED

Just bagged myself a Nikon.
By the way, if people forget to empty their basket after checking stock levels at Boots, the camera will appear to be out of stock for other users. It usually takes about 20 mins for the Boots web server to disregard any items added to baskets that aren't actually bought. So to help everyone out please empty your basket if you aren't buying!

Not suprising these are going fast.
Some troll or other will be bulk buying as there's £40 to £50 to be made per camera reselling these on eBay.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Have i missed something? I tried all the 10% off codes on the forums but none would work so i just put my order through at full price, with no extra points either! I was that desperate to get this bargain before it ran out again! Hopefully the camera will show up. Do you think it would be cheeky to email boots and say i forgot to use my voucher code? If i can find one to use that is!0

There are 2 Boots code threads. One gave you 1000 points for a £40 spend and from the other thread I just chose a code (about 3 or 4 pages from the end of the thread). It seemed to work okay. Perhaps you need to have a Boots Advantage Card (or whatever it is called) registered. I have my sisters card registered against my account... all went through okay - though I was tempted to put the order through without the code as I knew it could run out before I put the order through0 -
There seems a mad rush for the Coolpix 5200, I think this is just because it is 5 megapixel. The 4100 with 4 megapixel is still in stock and an equally good quality camera. This camera uses pencil batteries that are easy to carry and rechargers are cheap to buy. The 5200 has a charger and Li-on rechargeable battery. So you will need to buy an additinal battery in case your battery runs out, these ain't cheap!
Plus, will you ever print a 16"x20" photo?
So, don't just be motivated by the megapixels. I had the 5200 and 4100 in my basket and went for the 4100.0 -

Good point. I was wondering about this - the 5200 is very slightly smaller and I was hoping that the extra original price of the 5200 over the 4100 was for more than just the extra megapixels. I would be interested in finding the cheapest batteries for the 5200. In a quick search I found this at £16.99 inc delivery...am hoping to find cheaper though.

The above points are very good, knowing what you want from a camera is important.
A colleague settled for the 4MP Samsung Digimax 430 for £44.99 and used the 1,000 point code.(I hope)

Why? .......... Because after very little debate it was decided it suited her needs, and meant no further investment. Having a Multi Memory Card Slot (SD/MMC, Memory Stick Duo compatible) and running off AA rechargeables, it meant she could use stuff she/hubby/son already had at home

Edit....
Add to no further investment the fact that this one came with a case. The MSE Dictionary

The 5200 is metal bodied while the 4100 is plastic. If they are out of stock it's academic though. Both are still great cameras. If either come back in stock I wouldn't hessitate to buy one.Ye'!, And!!?. How am I supposed to know?0

The Minolta Z10 also sounds really excellent. Not so many megapixels but incredible sounding zoom, good battery life and great for close ups. Ideal for nature photography. Also I don't think I have ever blown up a photo much above the standard size - and extra pixels mean you can store less piccies in your cameras memory. That's the one I would go for!0
