One thing to note is that the built in Mic on any digital camera is unlikely to record in crystal clear Dolby digital quality sound, it isn't a video camera after all!!

Also be careful you haven't got your finger over or near the Mic as this won't help with the sound on an already inferior Mic.

I realise the sound cant be perfect but I still have my sony cybershot and the sound quality on that model was crystal clear. This model barely picks up sound no matter how loud you have the volume. Disappointing really. But worth keeping all the same since its small and compat.
  • What a cheek advertising them as a saving of £150 when clearly, it is nearly a £50 increase. I have reported Boots to trading standards for what could be considered false advertising. Trading standards think that there could be a case to answer. See below.

    thanks for your e mail.

boots have to comply with the consumer protection act 1987 which deals with
misleading pricing.they should also display prices in accordance with a
code of practice issued under the act-this specifies how companies compare
their selling prices with previous prices.if they have displayed misleading
prices this can amount to a criminal offence.

i will forward your enquiry to our consumer & retail services section who
deal with criminal regulations to see if they feel there is an offence.

if you have any questions or if you want to know the progress of your
complaint please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have got screen prints and print outs of the £100 offer. I have written to the MD of Boots threatening to write to the Advertising Standards Authority but have not yet had a response, which trading standards office did you email? thanks

Unfortunately, this is the kind of things that retailers can do and get away claiming that they made an error. Look at Ebuyer for one of the most blatant examples.

This Boots offer was spoiled by greedy people who bought multiples to sell on eBay. Don't blame Boots for all of this.

Every retailer end e-tailer can raise and lower prices as they please - many of them do (Dixons, Currys, PCWorld, Argos, Index, MFI, B&Q, Wickes, Tesco, Sainsbury, blah blah blah blah). Boots' website clearly states that the camera WAS previously on sale for less than the current price. That's pretty honest if you ask me.

the cameras are still on sale in Boots shops for £299 - see if you can get the manager to sell you one for £99.99.

Their current price of £149.99 is probably the lowest you can get it for anyway. Add a 10% code and you will get it for £135. Better still.

Otherwise, If you want one, go and bid on eBay, or buy one from someone other than Boots - punish them by not giving them your money.

The offer should have been limited to one per buyer in the first place. I agree about the greedy people, but Boots should have anticipated this. I think Boots probably made a mistake in pricing in the first place. Why would Boots say one day that they are entirely out of stock of that model which (they said) is now discontinued.

Now they suddenly come back into stock at a new price. What about honouring their undertaking to email all those who tried to order one? I think this is worth badgering Boots about.

Well just like Ebuyer, Boots will have to make do without my money. 'Special one day save'? That's a new one! Special one day balls up more like. It's not like they would have been bankrupted cause nobody in their right mind would have paid £299 when they are on sale elsewhere at almost half that price. Just go down to your local Boots and ask the manager there about how many they have shifted in the last few months.
