Small shop at ALd1 yesterday of £16.76. Really pleased to see they do almond milk at 99p :) A few more additives than my usual brand but at half the price I will give it a go.

    £342.60/£415

I am planning one last shop at the weekend to cover half term and weekend away supplies as my new month starts on 28th Feb.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • Another NSD yesterday but I will need to nip out and get some bananas today at lunchtime otherwise I'll be in big trouble with my 4 year old.

I may also get some butter as I spotted a Weetabix brownie recipe in the recipe list at the start of the thread and I've got loads of the darned stuff from when I stocked up just before my son decided he doesn't like it any more. Personally I can't stand it, way too mushy, so it's been sitting in the cupboard silently reproaching me for months. I have my day off with him tomorrow so that could be a good activity for us to do together.

Had a spend at Morris yesterday of £30.33, needed dog food, teabags and yogurt plus potatoes so I'm not sure why I spent so much !!!. I think my best plan at the moment is to do on-line shopping to keep my food shopaholic habit under control, however the habit is getting less - one step at a time.

I would like to come in at under £100 this month which means £6.56 left to spend. I know I have enough food to take me into next month it's just the will power I need.

Morning - shop of £23 this week bring total to £99/£100 so with a week to go not going to make it. Expense this week was increased by some much needed batteries so can't complain. The budget I set was a bit "finger to the wind" and I will come in at under £140 which was what I had before and wasn't sticking to so feeling quite a lot more disciplined with what I buy overall
  • Went to the shops this morning (never again! So many persons of a certain age blocking entire aisles!) Came to £30.70 for food, cleaning and toiletries. I have £49.78 left for the month. Sadly they had no whole goats milk so I can't have fun making cheese later. Feeling confident that we'll come under budget this month. Might revisit the budget again, but with price increases coming I might hold off on it.

Ginmonster, your son sounds just like my 5 year old!
  • Went to buy bananas and butter at lunch and managed to spend £7.45 because I couldn't resist the half price valentine's chocs and some swanky giant pasta shells. Gah! I might see if there's anything I can trim from my online shop that's due to arrive tomorrow night to claw some back otherwise I'm not going to be left with much budget for the second half of the month.

    £83.26/£150
  • Well, half way through February, and I have spent £20.98 of my projected £60 for the month.
And "really" it's a lot less than that, as £11 of that was for a birthday cake, bought for a family party, so it should, I guess, come out of the "entertainment" budget.
I've been using up things from the cupboards, fridge and freezer, and have enjoyed some lovely meals at minimum cost.

JackieO, I am quite envious - dear old Hastings, my old stamping ground! My rare visits there are always spent in seeing people, so haven't looked round the shops for ages. I NEED to go!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!
  • Had a lovely day out there winchelsea, and took the two dogs .The little one had never seen the sea and was so excited . We managed to have something to eat in the Hastings Arms in George Street as the landlady is a doggie lover.DD treated us all to lunch and I had a delicious liver and bacon with mash and garden peas and I am still stuffed so no cooking for me tonight :) The boys had a great time as well and it blew the cobwebs away. Tonight I am going to just sit down with my feet up and watch some mindless TV and probably have an early night after ll the driving.
Tomorrow I have promised the boys we can make some cookies
    JackieO xx

Quick run round Aldi for the weekly food shop - £51.53 which takes me over, but I do have an unexpected mouth to feed (DS2) back from Uni on placement - he is enjoying not having to shop and cook for himself a little too much :rotfl::rotfl:
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • Bigger shop than I expected today but forward planned for my being away on holiday and leaving OH and the kids with food and meal plans and no reason to go off plan (also planned in a takeaway for them too). Fingers crossed it really should only be top ups now until the end of the month. It seems I'm way over budget at £228.55 out of £300 but that's more than £70 left for what SHOULD only be top up milk, bread, cream.

I wasn't able to pick up everything I had on my list at L!dl but as I spent £87.18 there and was only sort of expecting £50-ish - I decided not to try to get the missing item at Mr A as I just know I would have gone on a YS beano! So I texted OH to pick it up on his way back from work. He got the one 'missing' item and nothing else. Much more disciplined than me. So that was just £1.40 taking me up to £88.58 today.

Planning NSD now until the weekend when I do plan on stocking up on L!dl washing powder offer of 99p instead of £2.15 and will likely need some more bread that day too. Then hopeful that because there is enough food in this house to feed an army for a good few months - the OH will cope without going wild in the aisles for the last week of Feb and into March... Two chances x
