    Good morning,

We bought a SEAT Leon in 2012 and we've had the correspondence but no date to have it updated. I'm not overly confident that it's performance will be unaffected. I heard a solicitor from Harker Sinclair this morning on Today programme but can't decide whether to sign up or wait and see what VW have to say.

:-) Lets wait and see what the "official" MSE advice is then. If 30% is the going rate for such things then (as things stand at the moment - unless I hear a strong case not to join) I am going to sign up for sure.

I was conned by VW and no doubt my car has lost more in value than it would otherwise have done so I feel no remorse for wanting my pound of flesh. It was not a cheap car and they were happy to take my £25K at the beginning.

and..... the excellent NOX and MPG figures were a key factor in my buying decision before anyone flames me......

    Cheers,
    Paul

Subscribed; we are in the same position.

We have not yet been contacted to take our Superb in to have the adjustment carried out.

We were very disappointed to learn that our car is producing higher emissions than we were lead to believe when we bought it. When we discussed part exing it, the dealer (not VW group) didn't want to take it.
I bet you, and the majority of VW owners, probably didn't know how what the NOx emissions for your car was supposed to be, nor had it any influence in you buying the car in the first place. I'd hazard a guess that the majority of owners, prior to this didn't even know what NOx was.

I saw the online BBC news item on this this morning and have signed up. Although I am unsure about this type of claim, I think we should stand together to show that we are not happy (incredibly furious) about the situation and that we expect VW to find a way of apologising to ALL customers, not just those in the US. This is my first diesel car. I had been encouraged to buy diesel as it was 'better environmentally than petrol'. So then to find that it is many times worse as the emissions had been falsified has made me very angry. I walk my kids to school past queuing traffic in the mornings and it worries me what they are breathing in. Big companies should not be allowed to get away with behaviour like this and if the government won't do it, it is up to us the consumer to hold them to account.
I take it you still drive the car though, and will continue to do so.

We'd really appreciate knowing how your car is after the fix - there have been reports of loss of mid-range torque and haven't had our car done yet.

My friends had theirs fixed before Christmas (2.0 Audi, mine is a 1.6 VW) and they have noticed a drop in performance but are hoping it will even out a bit. Fingers crossed! Will keep updated once I've been in for mine fixing.

No you weren't and no you haven't. I very much doubt you actually knew what the advertised NOx figures were or how in fact they could in anyway be classed as "excellent".

Environmental impact? Very few so called victims genuinely care about that. More interested in lower tax band... which they got. Want your cake and to eat it too.

With zero effect on the vehicle owner this is the type of case that the government should deal with, with any fine apportioned to appropriate departments.

But then it is a day and age of wanting something for nothing.

As for 30%... they're not just gonna roll over and pay in more billions. A lot of risk involved and a lot of fat pockets to fill

And you have evidence that the second hand price has been impacted?

It's notable that Slater & Gordon make no reference to reduced values when detailing what they will be claiming for.

I may not have known exactly what the specific NOx values were supposed to be but I chose the car based on economy and environmental factors taken as a whole. The MPG, the road tax etc were key factors in me moving from petrol to my first diesel.

Regardless of whether I was savvy enough to know specifically what NOx was at the point of sale, VW market these cars as environmentally friendly (I have the bluemotion engine, and I purchased this over other engines for its 'green' credentials) and have misled consumers. I wanted to sell my car this year and it has definitely been impacted by this, I couldn't sell privately or to a non VW dealer as nobody wanted to take it until the fix had been confirmed, I could have possibly part exchanged at a VW dealer but I don't want another one as aside from this issue it has already been nothing but trouble with rubbish service! (funnily enough on another emmissions based issue) If I get it fixed there have been varying reports of reduced performance so I lose out there too.

Since VW has had to pay out compensation in other regions, why shouldn't we want the same treatment as their customers? They have abused their position as a trusted manufacturer and we have suffered losses and inconveniences (to varying degrees, pretty difficult to quantify to be fair) as a result.

And none of this has changed at all - you still don't know how the NOx or overall environmental factors compared to a Toyota/Honda/BMW nor are you paying any more for MPG/road tax than when you chose to buy the car

Again - what's the real loss you're claiming for and can you state it in financial terms ?
