That's one reason but not the one I was thinking. I don't know why some on here are so against giving the reg number. It's not as if it's hard to find out any vehicle registered at a given address.

If you have access to the dvla database it is.
However to access it you have to have a good reason and police who abuse it could be fired and fined for data protection act.

As we're talking about the police there will be access and if you go back to the original post there's a good reason to access it.

There is? If the guy gives his name address and reg no. what reason would they give for accessing said database?

Some are suggesting he doesn't give the reg, i simply pointed out there's no point in withholding it as they can find if they need it.
