    No, but they'll require the make, model and colour of his car.

    Why? He's making a complaint about an officer, not reporting an RTA.

  • about 10 years ago my friends husband was caught for speeding on the motorway by the police..


    went round to get his licence in the boot and they noticed the 'avon and somerset constabulary' bag in the boot ( he was doing his probation down this way )

    Yes, they may ask your occupation but not your employer.

    Oh I know why they try and harvest this, and other, data. I said valid reason.

    I reported an incident of dangerous driving and was asked for my reg no. They will ask for as much info as possible and see what they get away with.

    Yes, and it's pretty off-putting, I must admit. I once reported an old man with a firearm in woodland. You wouldn't believe the amount of detail they wanted about ME! Never again. If I ever have to report anything to the police again it will be anonymously. Maybe the OP might want to do likewise.

    Because they may well want to review dashcam footage from the police car, and will look to match a car on the video to the complainant's, to be sure they're looking at the right bit of video...?
