Not posted for a while. Think the bank have caught on that I'm trying to pay off the credit card as just had a letter saying they are increasing my credit limit by £1000. Would like to try and pay another £100 off but it's going to be tight as been off work for a while and don't get sick pay but back to normal on Monday so hopefully thinks will be better next month0

Not been here for a long time. unfortunately the debt has gone up. was paying off the credit card and the bank caught on and increased my limit. then had a rubbish few weeks at work so my pay wasn't good and ended up spending on junk on the credit card. so credit card debt has gone up and loan hasn't gone down. have contacted my manager for more hours and have enquired about another job so fingers crossed can start getting the numbers down again. first to tackle is the credit card. then the bank loan then the car loan. I will pay this off and have my wages to myself again0

I guess its time to confess all. its been a bad few months. I ended up in hospital because of my mental health and didn't/ couldn't work for a few weeks and as I don't get paid sick pay my money was down also we have had a lot of cancellations at work so that reduced my hours as well. I slipped back into old habits and reached for the credit card and spent loads on things I wanted instead of things I need. I mean who needs 100 pairs of pants and 32 bras. I went out with my mum and sister shopping to make myself feel better. have also been binge eating and spending a lot on food so my weight has crept up. actually that's a lie it hasn't crept up at all its leapt and now everything I own is tight. I just cant seem to find the middle ground with anything. I'm an all or nothing girl that's for sure. oh as well as spending on the credit card ive somehow spent all my emergency fund as well.
its pay day today though and everything changes back to money saving and looking after myself. it will probably cost more but its time to get rid off the snacking and buying junk (because in my eyes its chep or on offer) and start trying to watch my eating and spending. have paid some off the credit card and have updated the loan total. I'm determined to do this. things will be so much easier financially even with just the credit card paid off so that is aim number one. sorry for the long post although I doubt anyone reads this. just needed to get everything down somewhere0 -
Just read a little of your diary. Hope you feel better again soon and you can carry on the good work you had already achieved getting the debt paid off. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Sorry to hear things have not gone as you'd planned but don't fear, you are aware of it at least. First focus is getting yourself well and ok again
*hugs* hope you feel better soon and just remember you've already seen the light about your finances so you can get back on track. One step at a time:A

Hi ive been awol for ages. yesterday I finally paid off the credit card. had some savings which were getting no interest and I was paying over £40 a month in interest so I took the plunge and paid it off. Feel very vulnerable now with nothing in the bank but also so relieved that card is gone. The plan in the end is to rip it up but need to keep if for now as my emergency fund incase something goes wrong with the car etc.
Next aim is to get the loan paid off. my payment is £270 a month and I will obviously continue to pay that but I have been managing to pay £400 a month of the credit card so plan is to put as much as possible to the loan. I may just pay half until I have a small emergency fund again but I'm not sure yet. have been working 50 hours a week at work in order to earn as much as possible but my hours are going back to normal as the 3 girls who were signed off sick are coming back next week so not as much extra work to pick up. Anyway plan is to pay off this loan asap.0 -
Its payday. Money has been really worrying me since I used all my savings to pay the credit card and some off the loan. I was worried that if something went wrong it have to resort to the credit card again and I really want to avoid doing that. I've paid £83 off the loan this morning bringing the new total to £5,880. I've put £600 into my savings. all my direct debits come out on the 1st. so the total will go down roughly £280 after interest has been added. I'm also guessing there will be some interest on the credit card.
My plan is to save £2,500 whilst still paying the loan off and then using £2,000 to overpay the loan so that I will always have a little bit in savings. Ideally id like to have it paid by the end of this year but I'm not really sure that's going to happen but will keep saving and working as much as possible to get it paid off.0 -
I'm ashamed to say i'm back. Ive ummedd and ahhhed about posting for a week or so but I cant believe im back in this place.
My aim for 2019 is to pay off the credit card and the loan. That will still leave me with the car loan but that is a necessary evil as need a reliable car for my job. By the end of this week I will have worked 85 extra hours.
I'm very aware that im an all or nothing person. this year I need to find some balance between paying off the debt and not paying off so much that at the end of the month an unexpected tank of petrol ends up on the never never card0 -
Well back again.
another consolidation loan as I managed to get in a mess. I just don't know what I spent it on. The consolidation loan paid off an old loan my car loan and 2 credit cards. I was paying £600 a month on repayments and the new loan is £300 for the next 36 months plan to overpay as much as I can.
Have also saved 3£600 with park for xmas and have £104 on an asda savings card. August will be a tight month as had £380 on a credit card which I payed off yesterday.
from august pay day my plan is to over pay £200 a month to the loan which means it should be paid in 15 months
Still really struggling with my mental health so this diary will probably be about that as well.
I work as a carer in the community so have set myself a weekly petrol and spending budget. Anything I don't spend I take to the bank on a Monday am and was paying towards park but now it will go off the loan although the minimum payment is £100
