    OP - your signature states;
    Ex-Bankrupt, Discharged 09/2015
So near as damn it 18 months ago you had your bankruptcy discharged and now you are surprised you get declined for a CC?

Good news, xxx! Subject to a credit check, we can offer you a Nationwide Select Credit Card with a credit limit of up to £6100 at 19.9% APR representative (variable).

No interest in applying for their card but I just tried this out of curiosity. The decision is 'accept' in the page source.

Interestingly I upgraded my account to the £10 monthly fee paying one 2 weeks ago and they also offered me £3900 credit limit for the credit card then, with no additional hard searches required. Not sure why the £2.2k increase in the space of 14 days :rotfl:

Also tried this out of curiosity, website seems to be having issues at the moment an error message appearing on the source code. However did it twice in a row, first time offered 1900 at 19.9% and the second time 2100 at 19.9% with the same info....strange how they come up with their credit limit numbers. My partner tried it and she got 3000 at 17.9%, that seems a bit more positive. Will check again later to see if the error has cleared so I can view the proper source code, expecting an obvious 'decline' for my credit history though!

Interesting that most seem to be offered the top tier interest rate at 19.9. The best rate for the Select Card is 15.9%. My check says £5,000 at the 19.9 rate and interim "accept" but I don't require the card at this stage.

    I got offered £1950 @ 19.9% with interim = 'accept'.

Having opened my account in November, I have had two (hard check) rejections from them (November and March).
So if I'd not seen that interim accept, I wouldn't have gone for the full check...

But now I'm the proud owner of a Select Credit Card, and more than doubled my availabile credit :)
Bit dodgy that they force you to take a hard check if they've already declined you though!

I just applied it showed up a credit limit of £2200 with 15.9% APR. I progressed to full credit check - Next page it said Congratulations your application has been approved. It then gave me an option for setting up a Direct debit.

At the end it said we will get back to you in 10 days? Anyone else had this.

Ive just logged into my Nationwide internet banking and applied for another quote
    I was offered £13,200 @ 15.9% with interim = 'decline'.

Didn't progress to hard search, but it would be interesting to see if any interim decline decisions were actually accepted

No mcpitman - not surprised. Totally EXPECTED.

What isn't expected is their hard search before telling you they've declined you, when it's been pre-decided! Neither is it expected that they won't admit that to you - saying they "don't know about my bankruptcy or credit history before I press apply" - that's a CLEAR lie! If they "didn't know", I should get interim:accept, followed by decline! That would also mean, what's the point in having the checker....!

£13k with interim decline, hahaha, these lot are comedians!!!

I'm still getting the same. Closed my FlexBasic as my pre-BR Flex Account still works and the Official Reciever has confirmed they have no interest in it. Going to see if that changes things after my salary goes in for a few months... Presumably due to internal data I will be straight decline for at least 3 more years.

Anyone interested in this game with another institution.... Capital One! Although they don't have the same antics as NWide, they say if it says accept they will stand by it!

From the source code, which is a lot more detailed than N/Wide's, I can tell:

Secured Card - I'm allocated £200, with a £49 security sum (basically most they can give me, for the cheapest) then fail due to 'score BELOW cut off' (likely to actually be ABOVE score cut off....)

Balance Transfer, Excellent Credit, starting limit up to 6k card (CCS76) - 0 suggested limit. Decline Reason 03 - 'Same Person Bankruptcy'

The one I was accepted for... Cap1 Classic (CCS18) - bog standard one.

Code: Likelihood score = 10 (although it does say on the page pre-approved etc, they they aren't up to the same antics as NWide). Suggested Credit Limit = £750.00.

Showed a colleague who didn't believe I could see the results of my check.... bearing in mind limit on classic = £200 to £1,500... then pressed apply..... and got exactly £750!

As I say - it's not the fact NWide declined me - I'm just curious. I don't need a card - I've got basically the same with Aqua (ok it's not a prime card, but does the job on my credit file, a 2k limit, no foreign fee, same 0.5% cashback) - Aqua increased last week, I asked to go up to £1,750 and they put it to £1,950
  • NW have now limited their cards to current account holders /members only now.....

I got a preapproved limit of £3900 @ 19%APR, clicked to the next step and got an error "Something went wrong" and that was that.
I don't expect to get accepted as I only just got approved for an Aqua card by the skin of my teeth.... I think their quotation search will just say everything is groovy until to actually apply.

Proliant, did your error end up actually resulting in a search?

I've had the same happen to me. I only tried the application due to this thread :rotfl:. I tried again but looked at the source code more thoroughly this time and it showed a "decline", so I closed the page down!
