Nationwide soft search.... see result early?

Same with the personal loan,, applied and the soft search said it was "pleased" to offer the amount at 4.1% (which given the range of apr's they offer would seem to be one of the better ones), as the apr was low, it seemed to be a positive indicator however the source showed as "not pre-approved" and then is was a decline on the final search,, however it says they searched call credit, but when checking my report no search is displayed so don't know if this indicates a policy decline0

That's your personal experience.
Here's Barclaycard for me:
9/10 for several cards, 6/10 for the credit builder one. Why not just tell me the answer? They are just enticing me into applying.
MBNA used to give me similar percentages, but not right now it seems as I do have a card with them.0 -
Nationwide just offered and accepted me for £6,200 limit at 19.9%.
Source code said 'accept'.0 -
just to add my friend recently opened a current account with nationwide with no over draft option and before the end of the application he was approved for a credit card and just clicked accept. He does have Squeaky clean credit history and currently only has one credit card which he always pays off in full. I was sat next to him whilst he applied.0

Plus with Barclaycard, there is clear evidence they do tell people to clear off - pretty bluntly as well.
There's clear evidence Nationwide fail to do that. I've raised it with them before (before I found the source code) and they told me I must be mistaken... I 'had a chance' that's why it said good news etc etc. Clearly, I didn't.
Whilst I agree it's ridiculous putting something like 9/10 after they've soft searched you (it should, in my opinion, either show decline, you'll be referred, or accept) - I don't see that as enticing as Nationwide's antics. For example, they've 'offered' me up to £1,500 and up to £1,650 then back to £1,500..... given the code says decline, I'd love to know how their random number generator came up with that!
There was a thread on here quite a while back about somebody "using the nationwide pre-application check to monitor his internal credit rating". In that if it gave them £1,000 one month, then £2,000 next month, they'd clearly improved internally and might go through with the app. It was shot down as a pretty ridiculous idea - good job the poster never went through with it (I'm assuming!), since clearly their "good news" and limits don't actually mean anything!!0 -
I opened a flexdirect account just over a month ago. Internet `Banking says I have no reserve limit and am not eligible for an overdraft. But the select credit card appeared in my offers, so I'd thought I'd see.
I was offered £8,500 limit at 19.9%, source code = decline, so I didn't progress with a full check..0 -
My offers, and those of people I've checked (with their consent) have all been fairly low (< £1,650) - so Nationwide can wriggle out of declining easier by saying "you were borderline".
I wonder what kind of excuse they'd give out after declining someone who had 'offers' like £7k & £8,500....???!!!0 -
Just checked for curiosity and received an offer up to £3250 at 19.9% APR with
"nbs_cc_decision_interim":"accept"
Nationwide is my main account. I think I will apply next week.0 -
M&S told me that it was really likely I would be approved for a C/C based on a soft search, but they rejected me when they did a full search as I 'didn't fit their criteria'. It's misleading IMO.0

Just received an offer of £4950 and was then declined !!0
