O.k....Received copy of PIP assessors report today, it is more or less as I expected......two questions....1. Am I right in thinking that the Daily Living Component scores, and The Mobility Component scores are NOT added together to give a final score ?......2. Do the Decision Makers take the assessors report as "gospel" or can they either add, or deduct points when making a final decision ?......Jack.
No they're not added together. You need at least 8 points for a standard award. DM can do what they want. They don't always go with the assessor. It has been known for them to go against what they've adviced. With mine the DM stayed with what the assessor said both times. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.....it doesn't look too good, I got 6 points for daily living, and only 4 points for mobility, which in fairness is about what I expected....the assessor has said that I can walk only 200 meters, but has noted that it is "with difficulty" and that I have to keep stopping "because of numbness and pain" which is quite accurate....I await the DM'S decision.......Jack.

Well there's always a chance the DM will go against what has been said. It's rare though and i haven't heard of many stories where they have. Nothing is final though until a decision has been made and if it isn't in your favour there's always the Mandatory Reconsideration. Even though you say it's what you expected. Good luck.

Thank you for that......I suppose what I should have asked, is does the outcome rest solely on the F2F report ?.....for instance there is no mention in it of having to use a mobility scooter for shopping etc. although I did tell the assessor this, and it is on the original PIP claim form....if it is on the original form, presumably the DM will take this into consideration, along with the medical reports etc ?...or am I clutching at straws ?....Jack.

  • I got an extra point by the DM and a longer award than the assessor estimate. Hopefully you wont have to wait much longer. If you dont get an award your can always ask for a mandatory reconsideration to be done, most are not over turned at MR but I think its around 60% do at appeal stage.

Mostly it will yes. Although all the evidence should be looked at but whether it will is another thing. The whole point of the assessment in the first place is so the assessor can write their view, whether it's a true version or not. Just wait for the decision, hopefully it won't be long.
  • Just an update....Had a letter from DWP today, stating that they now "have all the information to make a decision on your claim"...and that they will write to me "shortly".....anyone else had one of these, and if so how long after receiving such a letter can I expect the dreaded decision ?......Jack.

Letters from DWP take about 7-10 days to get to us so they may well have a decision by now. If it was me i would have rang them to ask. If a decision has been made they'll tell you what it is. Then you won't have to wait and stress any longer.
  • Thanks for that....it says on this letter "there is no need to contact us, we will write to you when we have reached a decision".....I will give it a couple of days and then ring them......also I visited my GP yesterday on another matter, and he informs me that they don't do letters for PIP claims, they only respond if DWP contacts them, so that's out if I have to request an MR.....Jack.
