Ooh, this is sounding exciting! There's nothing like a deadline to focus the thoughts on money saving, and in a few months you will be putting up the office fairy lights and thinking what a good move it was!

The outside office sounds like a really important quality of life thing to me (I think it will make your house feel quite a jut bigger too) and I would go for the better electrics option, mainly to be able to heat it to keep it from getting damp (you could probably run low power electric blankets to keep the human warm but you need to heat the structure at least a little). And yes, great idea to save hard between now and when you have to pay the bill, so you have a little more head room in your EF at the point of settling the bill.

You should be very proud of yourself that you can afford this to be an option. It wouldn’t have been remotely possible a few years ago … 😊

@KajiKita yes, quality of life definitely.  And I agree about the need to heat it at least a little. We do have an old oil filled plug in radiator in our garage so I'll dig it out and check it works later in the year.

There is also the added value to the house. We're not planning on selling anytime soon but the option for anyone to be able to work out of a separate space is good. It could also be used as a small summerhouse if not an office.

We have nothing planned for today, I need to do some food shopping and housework but that's it. I think I've left it late for food shopping as I hate going later when it's busy. I might put it off until tomorrow morning.

I called my friend last night to see how she's doing. Her super organised mode has kicked in and she's getting in touch with the insurance companies and international funeral directors  as her sister in law is in no fit state to do anything. She's coming up from Portsmouth to her parents on Sunday so I'll see her in the week as they are only 10 mins away from me.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Just been through my Monzo account and transferred £29 from round ups pot that has accumulated to the savings fund.  I also still have my personal monthly spending money fully in tact so whatever is left by next payday will go into the savings too.

20yo has finally transferred me £50 he owed me plus the £60 for his mobile phone bill and some for his savings so that's all been shuffled into the right places.

Tried to go to Aldi this morning. Got there at 10.15 and no parking spaces. Drove around the car park twice but then people don't want to let you back into the queue. Gave up and drive to Lidl instead. Spent £80 but will probably have to top up in the week.

Met my friend at the Garden Centre. We had lunch. It appears her brother made a mistake with his travel insurance and excluded USA, Canada & Mexico so the family have to cover the cost of the medical bills. The travel insurance from his joint account will cover the cost of repatriation. Such a sad situation.

I bought a jasmine plant at the garden centre to put the opposite end of the fence to the plant we have. Hopefully next year they'll meet in the middle and will be glorious 🏵🌻. It's also the direction the new office will have a window so I want something nice to look at.

I should be doing housework now but instead I'm camped on the sofa binge watching Dexter.😂

Oh no, that’s awful news on top of loosing him as well.

I’d have gone for the office too, my sister moved house because of having the ‘office’ in the open plan dining room.

Wow that's drastic! We can't afford to move. Well we could,  but not get anything better than what we have unless we moved much further away. I do keep looking at houses in Bognor Regis which is where my Aunt lived. I think I'd like to retire there.

I spoke to my SiL today. She had a partial knee replacement two weeks ago and is bored and frustrated at the slow progress in healing. It's her son's wedding reception we're off to in a couple of weeks time. He and his wife got married in a very small private ceremony in May and just having a reception for everyone now. Really looking forward to it.

Off to tilly tidy my bank account.

    Have a good evening everyone.
