Samsung replacement
I presently have the Samsung S3 which I'd like to upgrade to a new model. Both the S7 and S6 are outside my budget as my preference is to buy the phone outright rather than be on contract.
the S4 and S5 seem to have disappeared from the market but I see there are other Samsung models that range between £150 (the J range?) and the A range starting about £200. This is still pricey but more manageable than the S7 Edge cost!
Does anyone have these newer Samsung models and can offer any advice or suggestions?

Just to start the ball rolling, I've seen it suggested on here that the Moto G - (4 I think) is a good one instead of Samsung, there's not so much bloatware for a start and the price is good.
I'm sure more savvy people will be along shortly though0 -
Why do you want to upgrade? might give us an idea of suitable phones.0

If I'm being honest, I don't need a new phone but I'd like to upgrade with something that has a better spec, better camera more features etc.0

Features and spec is a bit vague so I cant really help.
Suggest you go on gsm arena.com and compare.
Agree that an 8mp camera is worth upgrading.0 -
When comparing side by side on the GSM website, the Sony Xperia XA is a fairly decent step up. Cost about £170 at at rough guess.0

If you can't afford a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S7 I'm afraid that if you want any of those two phones for a lower price you are going to have to start a contract. But if you at least want a Samsung Galaxy I can recommend the J3 as it's only £100 with EE I think. But if any phone can do the LG Leon will suit your needs unless they are different needs. Thank you for the patience to read this post0

Well, with a contract you can just pay monthly. I pay monthly0

There are known problems with 'ghost touch' on the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. If you buy directly from Motorola their customer 'service' is atrocious.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

yes sorry - I haven't been very helpful have I?! Yes I don't really know what I want because most of the tech speak that that they quote about phones is alien to me. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge would be my phone of choice but the price tag is frightening. Its a scary prospect that a mobile can cost more than a laptop!!!0
