    Not while you're driving.

does that mean apps are safer than a browser on a i-pad to bank with?
    I've always used browser

Both apps and browser are pretty safe methods on an iPad but in the unlikely event that you get a virus then you are more likely to lose your banking credentials when using a browser then when using an app so with that in mind an app is safer. For example a keylogger will pick up any characters that you enter into your browser where is a banking app generally has his own keypad which is not susceptible to a keylogger

Depends on the phone: For example I wouldn't use any banking app on an Elephone P9000 which is widely reported as being rooted and using insecure Android test keys. It's a fact that banks allow their apps to be used on insecure phones so that means that in that case mobile banking is itself insecure.

On the other hand I do everything mobile including banking and shopping on my iPhone SE 64GB.

I suppose it comes down to what the user trusts and personal caution.

    thanks mt.
However, just looking at the app for HSBC and Santander, the latest reviews don,t encourage one to use them!
As I use them regularly, I tend to use the favourite , or most often used tab, instead of typing whole URL in the browser, or as soon as I type first two letters, the secure , padlocked URL usually completes itself.
HSBC,s new internet is rubbish , but, it,s what it is.
HSBC say Never use favourites for login.
So, it,s devil and deep blue sea:)

I disagree with both those points whoever said them first of all banking apps are very secure they may not have the complete range of functionality of course and to do something you may still have to log on via web browser but from a security point of view they are more secure than a web browser. if you do use a web browser there is nothing wrong with using favourites in fact it is a good idea because you know you are going to the right site and not some phishing site the alternative would be to type in the web address yourself but I can see no advantage to do that

    That was my thoughts entirely!
I will give both apps a try, see if I have any problems.
    EDITed.
Just tried HSBC, ok , no probs, BUT, it still uses Apple keyboard, not virtual?

Also says to use key once a month?
Rarely use key when using browser. Unless I need to do something that requires it!
Rather defeats the object of the app?

    Santander was a doddle.

Lloyds has me confused, it,s supposed to be Free, so why does it ask for my way of paying?
    Didn,t proceed with it, yet!

Most bank apps won't run when root is detected.

Ok the Lloyds Bank app is free and you don't have to pay for it . can't remember if you are using Android or Apple but Android every so often asked you to complete google account setup and specify a method of payment for your Google account. i never do this I always click skip. I suspect apple might do the same thing but I don't have any experience with the Apple store it is probably that message you are seeing rather than a specific request to pay for the Lloyds banking app

Hi mt, I went right to the end of buying, with no intention of doing so, just to find my credit card already lodged during set up, is due to expire, please update, which all will do in time.
As I have NO intention of buying any App,or any apple item , and don,t like my CC staying on any account system, do I "have" to update the details? or should I just ignore it.
Catch 22; No Skip;; I think this is Apples way of getting me to update my A/c details and CC details, or, no App? free or not
I cannot get the Lloyds App without amending\ updating and clicking accept the card details as payment, even though, you say it,s free?
It doesn't give any price.but doesn't say it,s free either.
I have read articles, on apples own forum of even Apple accounts being hacked and cards stored compromised.

There are some Apps not on Apple "free for A/cs I use .Tesco .Tsb, Mbna, but, the banks do have Apps, available on apple? probably third party?

I have ALL my A/cs in Favourites now, so don't have to type in the browser.

    It,s Apple I-pad.

i googled 'lloyds banking app for apple' and its free. sounds like you'll have to complete apple account setup with your new card and then get the lloyds app.
