I wonder if they have changed the rules.

A few years ago, my dog class trainer was grumbling what it was going to cost him for repairs to key damage, down the side of his car, which would be going back in a couple of months.

I did a cost comparison for the fiesta deal including the fact that you don't need to use full mobility payment for similar car. By the time you added in maintenance cost, insurance, mileage cost and as it's a pch there is no option to buy car at the end so motabilitity still much better deal.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j
  • I wonder what they count as justification for this? Maybe next time we pack up our car for a UK holiday, I should take a photo of just how full the car is packed, for just 3 adults and one disabled child ...
That's not a reason to have a 7 seater vehicle; that's a reason to have a big vehicle. Selecting the same vehicle with a 7-seat option (over the standard 5-seats) can incur an additional fee of up to £1000, which you have to stump up for via monthly payments and your advance payment.

I have asked a senior Motability adviser about this point and they said that there is no universal requirement, at present, to prove the need of a 7-seater. However, they do sometimes ask customers for there reasons in requesting a 7-seater.

The rules have always let you return a vehicle with "fair wear and tear". In practice, Motability excuse all damage to the bumpers and any damage caused by anything related to you disability (e.g. scuffs from loading your wheelchair, marks where my crutches have based the inside, a small dent by the drivers door of my car where I lean against the car to get in). However, any scratches/damage over the above can be requested to be fixed, although it is very dependent upon who at a garage that you speak to.

I am taking my car in to a repair shop next week to have £600 of work carried out to remove some small dents and scratches from four panels (with lots of repainting!). Oh the joys of having a car parked on city streets for three years...

Supermarkets are the worst and that is one of the reasons I hang onto my over 20 year old Punto, as one more scratch won't be noticed. I've twice had people hit my car (in one case not the old Fiat)quite hard, when opening their door, then give me a dirty look as though it's my fault.

    I don't run the risk.

When in supermarkets I either use the BB or children spaces, but always put my BB on the dash.
When spaces are not available I park with the white line down the centre of the car thus taking up two parking spaces. Some people don't care about what they do to your car. And it's no point in saying that they should treat other people's property as they would expect others to treat their's - some drive cars like it should be at the scrapyard.

Taking up 2 spaces in a car park, great way to get yourself a parking ticket, BB or not. Car parks are very often so full you end up waiting ages for a space. I have a BB but would never take up 2 spaces. Inconsiderate to others in my opinion, sorry.

You don't get a parking ticket in a supermarket car park especially if you have a BB on the dash.
Given the width of the car and the normal width of a space how then are we able to get to the front door and get me out if the door will only open about 8"? It is impossible to get all of the wheels inside the white lines! On top of that I have paid a lot of money for the car and wouldn't find it funny if I came back to find a great big dent in the side of it due to others not respecting my property?

    I agree some people don't care,but

As for taking up 2 spaces is really selfish tbh and wrong just because you don't want any dents or dings on your car then nobody does do they,so its a good job we don't all do that as there's enough stigma for bb holders already and then taking children places if there's no disable bays available is asking for trouble because I bet you would be one of the first to moan as well as the rest of us if they started using the bays we need to use.

It has been known for parking tickets to be issued in a supermarket. If there's no disabled spaces and someone needs one because they're a wheelchair user then takes up 2 spaces and recieves a ticket they would be able to fight their case. I'm disabled but i don't use a wheelchair, i certainly wouldn't take up 2 spaces in a car park. Yes i take pride with my car and it also costs me a lot of money. If someone scratched mine i wouldn't be happy either. However to take up 2 spaces because of this is just selfish in my oppinion.
