Just what I thought... I will be very explicit about this.

You'd better sit in the car while it is there then, it won't take a minute with their whizzy dongly scanner, and I bet they have to plug it in anyway to diagnose your EGR problem.

More than likely you will never notice if they did do it.

NOx particulate emissions harm people in cities. Nothing to do with penguins.

  • You have a moral obligation to get the car fixed. Your are poisoning people, damaging their health and the environment more than you are paying to (via road tax).

People who don't get the fix should have their road tax band adjusted appropriately.

Except (putting the parrot back in it's cage), the excessive (NOx) emissions that this concerns aren't anything to do with how road tax is calculated.

In fact, it's almost certain that the "fix" will have an adverse effect on fuel consumption and so increase CO2 emissions because that's the natural trade-off with a diesel - less NOx means more CO2.

So by having the fix they'll end up damaging the environment more than they're paying to (via road tax) becaue the gubmint has confirmed that they won't re-band the cars for CO2 after the fix even though they'll be producing more.

So poisoning people damaging their health and the environment is fine as long as you pay more tax?

Isn't that what Queen thatcher said when she invented Global Warming to raise more taxes? :D

  • I don't make or agree with the rules. You pay more tax, your get to pollute more, do more damage to other people's heath.

They should really force a buy back scheme.
