I doubt that very much as it is not safety related, but if they are I suspect it so the government can be seen to be doing something.0 -

I wouldn't do it, maybe part of the service could be a re-evaluation where they say "your car isn't as emission friendly, higher road tax band next year"?Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)0 -

Apart from the fact road tax (VED) is based on CO2 and this is about NOX and particulate levels, the government said from the outset of this so-called scandal that there would be no change in VED banding for the vehicles involved.0 -
I am not the only one this dealership has told (in not so many words)
Do it now or wait for DVLA to instruct you to do it.
The lack of trust I have for these people, they will just do it anyway. I mean they have lied before and they can do it again.
I am going to suggest they hold off until they have fixed my car of the current issue. Which is also a known VW issue. I am not sure I can take a double shafting in one day :-)0 -

I wouldn't have thought DVLA would have any place, or indeed any legal power to instruct you or anyone else to have this work done. I may be wrong, but if it were me and DVLA 'told' me to take my car to a dealership, I'd tell them to **** my salty *****.0 -
I will be asking about it when I go in on Monday. I am also going to reject the update until further notice.
I currently have a potential issue with the EGR valve so I will fight that battle first. That said I am going to ask who and where the info came from regarding the DVLA.
If I get lied too I am literally going to hit the roof.
HAHAHAHA *Thumbs up*0 -

Careful, there have been reports on here and elsewhere of VAG dealers ignoring customers specific instruction not to apply the 'fix' and doing it anyway.0 -
Just what I thought... I will be very explicit about this.0

*angryface*
VW are being particularly heavy-handed I feel about a number of things. I think this Emission issue is a small issue in the grander scheme of things.0
