Which tablet that accepts sim

Just wondering what you lot would recommend tablet wise... on a budget of about £80-£140.

My OH has acer iconia one 10 which is brilliant... 10" screen easy to use wifi.... but I need 3G/4g capabilities as I will be going away and want to put my iPhone microsim in and be able to use a combination of wifi and 3G for surfing internet and Skype. So forward facing camera needed. So will effectively make my iPhone redundant for a few months.

Any recommendations?
Shame this acer doesn't have sim slot as that would be perfect

If you can stretch to about £160 the Teclast X98 Air 3G is really good.

Though why don't you just use your existing tablet with your phone as a wifi hotspot?

Can't you simply enable Personal Hotspot in the iPhone?

Have you considered a mifi device? They're small, cheap and can be battery powered - they allow any device with a wireless card to connect to 3G/4G through them, they function similarly to a home router except they're using 3G/4G instead of DSL/Cable. They can be kept in a pocket or backpack when on the move and they have the advantage that in a hotel room or similar you can position the device on a window sill or other position which gets the best reception.

Having said that, the phone would be my first choice - I previously had a mifi device but since phones support wireless tethering I just use that any time I need it now.

Can you just shove a phone sim into a tablet or mifi unit and it will work?

I think it will depend on the mobile provider, I believe one of my friends had to buy a different Three SIM to use in a mifi, the one in his phone wouldn't work. It could be that if a phone SIM will work in another device it would also allow tethering/hotspot use.

Your phone would use its 3G/4G signal to create a wifi network, exactly like your wifi router at home does, only slower.

Ah that's interesting. I suspect though range would be limited so I'd need iPhone and tablet on me at all times

That's correct, you'd need the phone nearby but given it's small and battery powered I don't think that's much of an issue and as I mentioned above you get the advantage of being able to place the phone in optimal reception. I've been in a few places where within the rooms I only get Edge or poor reception but with the phone sitting right on the window sill I can get HSDPA or better.

There's not many tablets with 4G in general and the only one I'm aware of in your price range is the Galaxy Tab A 7in (the 10in is much pricier) plus for the price, even without 4G the tablets aren't great in that range. Since you're happy with the tablet I think the iphone or a separate data device of some sort makes more sense.

Thanks. I have an ipad with sim slot that I never use. Unfortunately, I'm also on Three.
