Contactless cards

Contactless card shields and contactless-proof wallets are available, then it would be a simple case of scanning your statements for the contactless symbol.
Or just accept contactless - as Apple themselves are supporting it, along with more and more retailers. It is a useful technology, has a limited range to be scanned and as others have said - your bank still covers fraud. I'd hardly call paypal secure, but that's another topic.
Banks accept low-level fraud risks for improved functionality (e.g. not having to enter a PIN for a sandwich and drink every day). In addition, your PIN is verified occasionally using contactless as well as their other fraud security measures...0 -
Probably the best advice about contactless cards I've seen is drill a hole in the chip and wear a tin-foil hat. But personally, I'm not concerned about fraud.

That doesn't work anymore. Now you have to pop in a microwave for 5 seconds to destroy the contact-less part of the card, then you can only use the chip and pin.0 -
Just go to the ATM and use cash so.
Keep your card firmly in your wallet and only use it on secure sites in the comfort of your own home/office where no one will scam you.
Simple isn't it? Non contactless have been scammed too you know.
Or just use contactless and get on with it.
Security is the issue, not peoples preference of how they pay.
The problem is if you accidently drop your wallet or card people can now use it easily. There is also the risk of having your card cloned without you even realising.
Chip and pin was a massive step forward in security from the signature, now it seems we have taken a step back, just because its now deemed too much effort to enter a 4 digit number.0 -

You obviously haven't looked very hard, as most UK banks will issue a non-contactless debit card, on request. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But what if I microwave it for 4 seconds or 6 seconds? Will it still work? And what about the tin-foil hat? Without that we are possibly still at risk of mind control!0 -
I know initially with Lloyds they sent me a non-contactless card back in 2015. I had to ask them to send me a contactless one. Although a year later I ended up damaging the card, when I requested a new one, they sent me a non-contactless one again as standard.
My girlfriend's TSB card is also non-contactless.
I don't know if they still role them out without the technology now. But all I can say is that most of them do offer contactless as standard now as it's the way technology is evolving. Although you do mention you're using Apple Pay, which probably contactless will eventually move completely over to that0 -

I have posted more than once about opting yourself out.

and I am just annoyed by contactless payments.0 -

Nope it is the way they get to have a cut of a larger proportion of your spending.0 -
One downside to some of these non-contactless cards is the fact they're unable to be used for things like Pay at the Pump, on trains etc.
So if you wish to have a non-contactless card it's worth checking out if the card issuer supports offline transactions. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
