There are lots of ways to boost your income online which may help. There are lots of ideas in the boost your income section. I find matched betting is a big earner for me and I do lots of other things to boost my income too, writing, reviewing, proofreading amongst other things. Hope you get sorted soon.

The three big ones are Appen Butler Hill, Leapforce and Lionbridge.

Have MSE made a special investigation into these yet?

Why would they make a "special investigation" into those companies?

Hi all, I am just wanting to make a little extra each month to help pay off our mortgage quicker and for some earnings if anything happens to my job. I have heard of swag bucking which i understand is mainly surveys and was wondering if this is a good way of making a bit extra? Also just wondering about how to go about registering self employed. I am currently full time employed, so this would be something along side this, would I need to let my boss know? would it effect my job at all? how would I sort out my tax, this would be totally new to me.
    Thanks

There's more to Swagbucks than just surveys. It's certainly a site worth trying.

Same goes for other sites mentioned on here. People prefer different sites, but it's worth trying out a few and seeing which you like.

As for tax and being self employed, that is a grey area regarding survey and reward sites. This is due to them being classed as rewards, not a job. You're not working with or for the sites and not all pay in cash. Some say you're gaining and it's income so should be declared, others say it's a reward and not taxable income.

If you're doing blogging or creating Youtube videos for money, Mystery Shopping or freelancing, for example, then they would need to be declared.

It wouldn't affect your job (so long as you don't do it in work time) and your boss wouldn't have to know unless you're doing something that relates or your contract states they're required to know. For example, if you write for a newspaper and start a blog on the latest news headlines then there could be issues. You'd need to register as self employed and declare what you're earning (from the extra, not your full time job).

I think they made a new law recently that got you round this to a certain point? Something like you can earn £1,000 a year without having to declare it as income?

Swagbucks is a great little site but you'd be lucky to earn any more then £25 a month from it, and that would require hours and hours of work a day to get that £25 a month. Some people use it all the time but I just feel there are better things to do with your time.
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • I work from home each day writing website content. I earn between £800-1000 a month but its taken a few years to build up the clients.
