If you speak a foreign language, it helps a lot! I speak Turkish, it means that I can translate some documents. I work part time from home and it makes around 50$ a month. Not too much, but it's pleasant because I work very little.0

katykicker wrote: »Oh, just to clarify, my actual online job earns me another £25,000. That isn't something that people can just join up to a website and earn though, so I didn't bother to mention that. Hope that is clarification enough. I don't go on about this, because why be smug?!
The £14,000-£15,000 is what I make from the sites I've joined via MSE, my own website and cashback and such like. All of the things I've mentioned elsewhere on MSE numerous times. I put in between 2 and 5 hours some days, other days absolutely nothing. This week for example I've done about 4 surveys and one post for my website, maybe two, I've made £130 ish.
Also, I achieved the £14,000-£15,000 in my first full year, from 1st January - 31st December, at home, so it is possible. With regards to other people not achieving this they are out there, mostly on 'The Money Shed'.
I imagine the other reason people don't say what they earn is because of people picking holes in them constantly. Nothing is to be gained by inventing a figure, or constantly offering to help others, apart from the odd occasion someone uses a referral link or something. I have had no less than 38 messages in the last week, not all of them polite, from people expecting me to help them. I have replied to every single one of them but to be frank I'm considering just feigning ignorance on this type of thread in the future, as clearly my amounts annoy some people :rotfl:. This part isn't aimed specifically at you Wizzbang, as I realise I've quoted you above, but people don't know me, they know what I choose to share. I'm thinking that will become less and less as lately I'm sick of people sending me PMs and not even using a please or thank you. I'm sure plenty of people will clarify too that I do reply, and try and help everyone who messages me.
I've just read this post and I'm totally amazed. There was a similar post once on another forum based in America where the attitudes were totally different. To a man every single person was highly interested in someone who was making a lot of money. Instead of criticism and jealousy they wanted to know, 'How can I do the same?' Many people learned a lot and I think that if Katy just gives us a few hints now and again we should be grateful and thank her for her wisdom and willingness to share. I haven't read the whole of this thread and maybe I'll get some insights when I've worked through all the posts but for now, thank you to everyone who is willing to share their successes.Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0 -

You say you haven't read the thread, it might be useful to do so and all of the others where people ask 'how do I make money' and when they are told insist on being given everything on a plate rather than do any leg work themselves.
There are lots of threads on this board where people have shared ideas, yet you still get the Pms, as Katy mentioned asking for someone to do it all for them. If someone truly wants to make money then surely spending 5 or 10 minutes looking at some of the threads on here and then asking pertinent questions is a good place to start- rather than just sit there and expect everyone to do it for them?
As for the US sites, I am on quite a few, mainly based on selling online or at fairs etc, anyone asking for lots of advice will be sent to look at the basic information first. Those forums are brutal, this is a walk in the park compared to some of the vitriol on there when newbies want people to give them the name and address and contact details of the exact warehouse they need to buy from. People who make money are often happy to share the basics but not to give up too much time doing all the leg work for someone who cannot be bothered to do it for themselves.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you, and yes, I am working my way through the posts and picking out the relevant information and all the bits that might help me. My post was really a thank you thread. As I said, maybe I'll get some insights when I've worked through all the posts. No-one can do that except for me.
I would like to ask something though. I have an idea for a blog but I'm wondering whether to go on a free blogging site or whether to buy a domain name and publish it as an independent site. That would give me more control over how it looks. I'm not even sure how popular my idea would be and I'm still thinking about it.
At the moment I'm doing a few surveys and although it brings in a little money it's never going to be a get rich quick activity. When you work out the hourly rate it's not very well paid but having said that if you're just going to sit there mucking about on your computer you might as well get paid for it. Does anyone make any income from their blogs these days? I know it takes a long time to earn even a penny but it seems to me that eventually it could become lucrative. Any thoughts?Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0 -
You can use wordpress to blog , it's got a multitude of free themes to customise the look of it .
Either buy a domain through them or better still buy elsewhere and point at your wordpress site.

I got made redundant in Feb this year and before that was at risk and on gardening leave. I had spare time on my hands and was worried about the future. I stumbled across some you tube videos of people buying and selling on Ebay and started to do some research.
I would recommend it as a good way to make some side money. There is a large community of resellers and lots of help on youtube.
You can start by selling your own [STRIKE]tat [/STRIKE]treasure, let's say you sell 3 bits of treasure and have £10 in your paypal account after fees, postage etc. Withdraw the £10 and go to the charity shop and there maybe a rail selling things for £1 as they can't seem to shift them in previous weeks. Yes you will find primark, george, unbranded but you may also find higher end brands like Laura Ashley, Per Una (can't go wrong there really)branded jeans, mens shirt etc. Spend your £10 on 10 items and list them on ebay. Yes you may not make much, you may buy the wrong thing, but you will learn from your mistakes. Even if you sold them all for only £5 each plus postage, which is perfectly feasible, by the time fees are taken out and postage you could easily be left with £25. So now you can go out and buy 25 things for £1. Rince and repeat.
Do some research into what your local charity shops sell/what sales they offer, Further research what brands sell on ebay for good money. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
I've just joined the Prolific Academic website and it's very good. Much better than the average survey sites.Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0
