Hi Beanie, all ok thanks, no real changes in the situation. My mum is now roughly halfway on the waiting list for her neurology appointment, 27 weeks to go. She coped well watching the kids this week when both DH & I were working early shifts and will have them for 2 late shifts next week.
We managed to change orthodontist for DS, still a different area and a bit awkward to get to but doable on public transport as well as driving so a bit better. I've been getting more and more anxious about driving over the last few years and really struggle when I have to drive somewhere unfamiliar. 😥
We got an appointment within a week as well and he has been approved for his braces on the NHS and getting them fitted next month. Poor wee guy, I'm a bit worried it will be sore for him but at least he'll get the braces over and done with before high school.

Will try to keep my diary more up to date, it does help to talk about all the random things and helps me feel like I've gotten some things done on days where I feel like I've done nothing but chase my tail.
This morning I went for my annual blood test, I usually have it in January but the Drs didn't contact me about it until a couple of weeks ago. Since I had gestational diabetes with DD, I now need to have this annual blood test to check I haven't developed type two diabetes. So fingers crossed all ok as usual. I was actually meant to go yesterday morning, got up and organised and then ate my breakfast. 😑 It's a fasting blood test, took me about 10 minutes to realise, go "oh s**t" and phone the Drs to rearrange. 😂
Did an arms & core strength workout after breakfast and hung out a washing. Took the kids down to see my mum and my sister was there with her youngest DD who is 2 and her grandson who is 5. One of her older DD's came in as well as she finished her driving lesson nearby. Kids had fun with their cousins although DD was a bit teary, I don't think she has been sleeping great. She still gets up about 4 or 5 nights a week in the early hours and comes into my room and stares at me until I wake up. I must be on alert though as I usually hear her at the bedroom door. I don't think I've slept properly for about 10 years since before I was pregnant with DS!
Cashed out some survey money and will pay some off the car 0% CC and put some into the holiday spending money savings.
DH & I took advantage of the friend referral offer that Ch@se bank are doing again for the first time in ages, I gave him a referral code, he opened a new account and had to transfer £1000 in within 30 days, he just did it straightaway. We both got £50 as soon as he did, it was very straightforward and got us £100 towards our holiday spending money.
DH and I are both off work tomorrow so are taking the kids for a wee day out in Edinburgh, hopefully it won't be too wet and the kids behave. They are back at school next week, then the following week we're taking them out for a week for a break down south as we couldn't get annual leave during the Easter holidays.
Looking forward to the break although DH is getting annoyed with me as I haven't driven his new car (not used to automatics/electric cars) and don't really want to take a turn driving it on the motorway. I get so stressed out driving as it is but I do feel guilty that he does all of the driving when we go away. Also sure the outlaws will moan at me about it (sadly we are staying with them for 2 nights at the start of the break 😒).
Just thought I'd lost this whole post as Big Cat decided it was the perfect time to walk precariously between my keyboard and the screen. He hit the keyboard and the whole post disappeared. 😮 Luckily found in drafts. Old Cat was also sitting between my hands and the keyboard forcing me to type around him at the same time! Old cat will be 18 next month so he is very stubborn and just will not move out of my way if he doesn't want to. 🤣

My cats - three of them- are the same way. Keep hitting the caps lock key all of the time. I catch the other strange things right away, but can't see that one until I have to retype things.
What do you like to visit in Edinburgh? I really enjoyed my trips there. It was my mother's favorite place on the trip with my parents. I really liked going to the People's Story museum on Canongate as it showed how the poorer people lived.
Good job with adding to the family travel fund.

Outlaws should mind their own business (though we know they don't!).
When I got my car I was a nervous wreck as it was electric and automatic and I've never driven either. I took to it straight away, and it's so much easier and nicer to drive than a petrol/diesel. I'll never go back. Perhaps you could try driving DH's car on local quiet roads and give it a go? Even if you still get him to drive on your break, you'd at least feel more confident about driving it should you have to at some point.

Hi all, yet another long break from posting, I keep meaning to and then time gets away from me. We took the kids to the national museum in Edinburgh and they did enjoy it but both had tantrums at separate times and I think their favourite bit of the whole day was actually the train ride. 😂
Weenancy, cats are only happy when they're sleeping, eating or winding their people up. 😂 Big cat just loves sleeping on my phone/ipad/edge of the keyboard or alternatively a plastic bag! 🤷♀️ Old Cat likes his comfort more so he prefers blankets and cushions.
Beanie the outlaws think the whole world should think and do as they do. 🙄 They were hard work for the 2 nights we stayed on our wee break away, FIL was quite obviously fed up of the kids after less than 24 hours and kept shouting at them for really small things like standing up during dinner (DD was dancing, gave him a dirty look, continued and then took her time sitting back down again 😂) or picking things up with their hands to eat (DS committed the terrible crime of picking up some cauliflower with his hand instead of his fork, poor DS is very sensitive though and burst out crying then ran away from the table. 😠). Both DH and I were not happy with FIL's bad attitude and DH actually picked him up on it a few times, saying they're just being kids leave them alone. That is pretty big for DH as he's still scared of his dad really as he has bullied DH his whole life.
We arrived at the outlaws on the Saturday afternoon around 4pm and were basically kicked out by 10:30am on the Monday morning, the lodge we were travelling on to was about an hour's drive away and check in wasn't until 4pm! The outlaws were desperate to get rid of us and were freaking out at the thought that they might have to feed us lunch!! We actually took the kids out for a walk on the Sunday afternoon for 45 mins/an hour and the outlaws were raging that we weren't out longer!! I just don't understand them at all, they are so strange, they haven't seen the kids for about a year and have no other children or grandchildren.
We recently had report cards and parents' night for both kids and the teachers were very happy with them, DS's reading age has increased from 6.2 to 7.5 years in the last 3 months so we're very pleased with that. The outlaws response (mostly FIL) was it sounds too good to be true, the teachers are lying to you because DD can't behave (she was an actual angel at their house, not so much on our holiday 😂) and DS has something wrong with him because he's scared of flying insects and ran away crying (no he was stung by a bee a couple of years ago and now is a bit nervous around flying insects, I think he was overreacting at their house because he was picking up on all the tension and FIL's bad attitude towards them). DS is a very sensitive little boy and he knows something isn't right about FIL, DD just gives him a bit of attitude which I love because he doesn't know how to respond beyond shouting and she just looks at him and carries on anyway.
Sorry that turned into an outlaw rant 😂 oh well we don't have to see them again for a long time now thankfully. MIL is 79 and FIL is a year younger so I don't think we can expect much change in their horrible behaviour, especially FIL as MIL can be ok at times and is a lot better with the kids generally although FIL has basically spoiled her relationship with them. DS keeps bringing up FIL shouting at him and we just tell him to ignore him he's a grumpy old man and it wasn't nice of him to behave the way he did.
Jwil, I still haven't driven the car 😟 but I will try my best to do it soon, I definitely need somewhere quiet as I'm worried I'll keep hitting the brake as there's no clutch and that foot wants to move! Of course I was questioned by FIL as predicted about me not doing any of the driving and why didn't I want to drive the car. 🙄 I just said well I don't want my first time driving it to be on a motorway!

Paying you a return visit 😉good to see you posting again. Sorry to hear your in-laws are still as ridiculous as ever, its such a shame but great to hear that your DH and DD have put him in his place a couple of times - bravo! It's such a shame that they seem to go our of their way to be difficult and cause upset rather than embracing the time with you all, very strange!
I find my MIL hard work (FIL no longer with us), it's a constant barrage of one-upmanship from her on any topic you can think of - she's very much an "if you've been to Tenerife, she's been to Elevenerife" person. I must admit I keep away as much as I possibly can as I find it infuriating.
Good to hear the children had great report cards, big well done on the jump in reading age for DS too and I'm sure once you've had that first, quiet drive somewhere you'll be fine driving the new car, it's definitely odd not needing the clutch. Even odder, getting back in a manual car and forgetting you need to use the clutch again!

Thanks for popping in Dancing & Beanie. 👋
Yes Dancing the outlaws are super odd, both had screwed up childhoods. FIL especially had a bad relationship with his dad & just replicated it with DH instead of trying to do better. He thinks because he didn’t hit him and throw him out of the house at 16 that he’s done a good job! The constant emotional abuse/criticism and bullying doesn’t count. 🙄
They have very little empathy and think everything should be as hard for us as it was for them. They will never just say “that sounds hard, I’m sorry to hear that” and don’t believe that mental health is a real thing. I got the blame when DH cut them off for several years as I was “a bad influence” when really I just pointed out that how they treated DH was not normal.
Had to laugh at your description of your MIL 😂 that sounds exhausting!
Beanie I concur bloody outlaws 🤣 it was the one time I was glad of DD’s attitude, tbf she was actually good as gold and it was very minor things like not complying straight away when he barked orders at her and not letting him scare her.
