Glad you had a good Christmas Day. Well done you, on having children who will eat red cabbage!

    Hi all,

Yes SA, shopping with small children is pretty awful, I'm so glad I have the option of online delivery!

Honeysuckle, my kids seem to have odd tastes, they both love olives as well. 🤷‍♀️ At the moment DS is being more picky after always being a great eater and willing to try anything. Now it's "I don't like it, I want toast". He eats a lot of toast. 🤷‍♀️ 😂 DD is still in the great eater phase and will try anything, so at least one of them appreciates the food I make.

Thanks Beanie, DS didn't have a toilet accident all day today, although I did have to force him to sit on the potty a couple of times. Getting there slowly.

Today we took the baby things that were piled up in the spare room down to my nephew & his gf as their baby is due in just under 3 weeks. So I have cleared out the Moses basket & stand, the baby bath, bath seat, top & tail bowl, microwave steamer, tommie tippee perfect prep machine, jumperoo, various bottles/cups, some hooded baby towels, a snowsuit and 2 jackets in 9-12/12-18 month sizes. 🎉 Plus a basket of baby toiletries I had put together for them with nappy creams, muslins, calpol etc. Annoyingly I forgot to get sudocrem somehow!

So our spare room looks a lot better but still has quite a few things piled around the edges. DH has some brewing equipment in there that he says he's going to sell but needs a bigger box for. I have a full bin bag of clothes to be donated in there as well, mostly kids stuff but some of mine and I need to go through my stuff again as I have far too much that isn't worn.

DH collected our steak pie for New Year's Day and my mum is coming up for her dinner. I think I'll prep most of the veg the day before again as that made things a bit easier on Christmas day.

Both DH & I are back at work on Saturday late shift so my mum is coming up to ours to watch the kids. We're both off on Sunday and then back Mon/Tues, so my mum has the kids again. I'm off until the following Sunday after that but DH isn't off until the Friday. I'm assuming we'll hear back about DS returning/not returning to nursery when the teachers are back next week. He asks every day to go and see the boys & girls 😔 he really misses the social interaction.

Thanks all, DH is making us some cocktails and we are just watching a bit of tv/browsing the internet.

I got the mashed potatoes, carrots and an apple crumble made today for tomorrow's steak pie dinner so they will just need to be reheated. DH will make the roast potatoes tomorrow and the steak pie just needs heated up as well.

I got a couple of washings done, washed dishes and hoovered downstairs but still need to do the bathrooms. Will take the Christmas decorations down on Sunday, the kids will be devastated, they love them. 😢

Cashed out another £20 from PA and £25 from OP, although their new website seems a bit buggy/slow, so hoping that it went through ok!

Will need to think about my aims for next year, I think I'll try joining the VSP challenge to save money for next Christmas. I have already opened a new savings account for it.

Happy New Year to all my MSE friends, readers & lurkers. 🎉  Thanks for all the replies and help guys. 😘

I’ve been doing the VSP for Christmas for a few years now. Usually end up with about £600. Well worth doing 👍 Happy New Year to you 🥳

Thanks SA, I'm aiming to save £500 for next Christmas, will see how it goes.

Dinner was nice yesterday and we had a good time with my mum. Got a couple of washings done and of course all the washing up but that was about it. DD had to get her hair washed in the morning as she rubbed her breakfast all through it (again).

Both DH & I are back at work today so my mum is watching the kids this afternoon/tonight until we get home. We're both off tomorrow so will take down the Christmas tree and decorations. I have already taken down the decorations in the kitchen and the Christmas cards in the living room.

Need to get ready for work soon and get the kids fed and their stuff organised for bedtime so my mum has less to do later. Might go into £land before work to get something sweet to keep me going through my shift as we're not allowed to share biscuits etc now due to covid.

It's freezing outside, DH has gone out to defrost our cars, mine keeps fogging up really badly with condensation inside - I even found ice on the inside of the windscreen the other day. 😱 It's something that has always happened, we asked our mechanic to check the seals and he said it was fine but it shouldn't be doing it. 🤔
