Nicnak, I have no idea, men always seem to overestimate how much food they'll eat. 😂 Oh well I'll need to make a turkey curry and maybe some sort of pie. 🤔

DS finished up at nursery yesterday, he is an afternoon only kid so he actually only got 1 hour 40 mins of nursery time yesterday instead of his usual 3 hours 10 mins as they finished early. The teachers reminded me several times to come and pick him up early, I think they were desperate to escape. 😂

I thought it was bad enough that DS was going to be off nursery for 2 weeks, now after all the announcements it looks like it will be 4 weeks. 😭 We are practically back into full lockdown again on Boxing Day.

DS is being very challenging (to say the least) right now and is driving me up the wall. We have stopped potty training again as he is refusing to cooperate and it was getting to the stage of having to practically pin him down on the potty whilst he kicked & screamed. I just don't know what to do with him. 🤷‍♀️ Sometimes he'll ask for pants and go and sit on the potty but most of the time he just refuses and would rather wet himself. 🤦‍♀️ So now I just ask him at every change if he wants nappy or pants - needless to say he always says nappy.

Have been resorting to drink the last two nights after the kids are in bed 😂 tried a Gin & It last night and a Gibson (martini with cocktail onions) tonight. A bit like rocket fuel but nice.

Feeling thoroughly fed up at the thought of being in tier 4 again next week after only coming out of it last week. 😖

Have placed our online order for food delivery on Tuesday, will probably need to go to Mr M's on Tuesday night to try and get the things that won't be included in the delivery as they'll be "not available". My mum is keeping both kids overnight on Tuesday as both DH & I are starting work at 6am on Wednesday. Working the same shift the following day so my mum will come and stay at ours that night as she's watching the kids again. So lucky she can help us out as otherwise I'd struggle to work my rostered days half the time.

Hi guys, hadn't realised how long it had been since I'd posted.

Well our Mr A delivery was missing all of the freezer/Christmas stuff so I had to go to Mr M's to get what we needed on the Tuesday night, it was chaos. 😱 The delivery guy for Mr A's was nearly an hour late, practically threw the stuff at DH at the door then screeched off in his van. 👀 So it wasn't until we were unpacking that we noticed the missing stuff. 🤦‍♀️ DH phoned customer service who were useless and told him to phone the shop! They basically said they'd try to get hold of the driver to bring the missing bag back and even phoned back to say he would be back later that night but he never appeared. I suspect our missing stuff was accidentally delivered to someone else - lucky them. DH claimed the money back for it of course as it was about £25 worth of stuff.

I had went to Mr Al's the day before on my way home from the chiropractor to get a few things that I suspected would be missing from the food delivery. It actually wasn't too busy when I went in about half one in the afternoon but was heaving by the time I was going back to my car. 😱 Mr M the following night was awful, so, so busy and no one even attempting to stay away from each other. I was in there for nearly two hours as I had to keep waiting at the end of aisles until they emptied out.

Work was tiring but fine for my two early shifts. We applied for DS to go back to nursery as we are both key workers, will hopefully hear back if he can go soon. He only has afternoon sessions but he needs the social contact.

DH collected the turkey crown from the butchers on Tuesday morning, they asked if he wanted a smaller one than the size he'd ordered and he said yes. 🙌 Turned out he'd ordered a 4kg turkey crown 😳 so anyway they swapped it for a 2.5kg one as that's the smallest they had. We'd have had turkey coming out of our ears if he'd taken the 4kg one and it probably would have cost £70!!

On Christmas Eve I made red cabbage with apples and honey roasted carrots & parsnips so we could just heat them up for Christmas dinner. I nearly sliced part of my thumb off 😱 so luckily my mum was still here after watching the kids as she fixed it up for me. The cut is in a really awkward place on the top of my thumb so hard to do myself. It's healing up but catching on things so I have to careful with it.

  • I've heard so many stories of problems with deliveries. They're obviously extremely busy and can't manage what they have. Although some lucky family had a nice surprise with your freezer stuff. I'd like to think it might have been someone very needy of it and it was someone's way of making sure they had a decent Christmas. I always try to think like that if something isn't right.
    Ouch about your thumb though.
Have a lovely few days x

Hi Nicnak, yes I feel sorry for the delivery drivers as they must be so booked up and obviously the guy had too much on as he was so late. Yes hopefully whoever got our missing stuff enjoyed it!

Unfortunately the online delivery service has got worse with increased use. Unfortunately I have to rely on online delivery as I don’t have a car, so it’s really annoying when they mess up. Hope the cut heals quickly, it’s a pain when they’re in a awkward place like that.

Continuing on from my giant post, my mum actually managed to get DS to use the potty all day on Christmas Eve, he even went and did it on his own without prompting after a while. 😮 So he hasn't worn a nappy (apart from at night) since then. 🎉

I'm still having to prompt him a lot and even having to strip and force him to sit on the potty at times 🤦‍♀️ because he's too interested in what he's doing/watching to get up and use the potty. He was a lot more pro-active for my mum, I'm trying not to nag him about it but if I don't ask him he just wets himself. 🤷‍♀️ It's still very early days though and at least he is (mostly) willing to sit on the potty now. I'm washing a lot of tiny pants/boxers every day atm. 😂

Christmas Day was nice enough, a bit weird not really seeing anyone though. My brother's gf dropped off some presents and we gave her ours to them but didn't see anyone else. My sister dropped off presents on Christmas Eve and DS ran straight to my nieces who were with her. 😭 He was cuddling them and didn't want to let go, he's missed them so much. 😞

My mum was going to come up in the morning before going to my brother's for her dinner but she was too tired and had been at ours on Christmas Eve anyway. So she's going to come up in the next few days as she's in our bubble for childcare.

I always find Christmas Day very stressful, so in a way it was bit better that we weren't rushing about, especially as DH was back to work on Boxing Day. We spread out the present opening for the kids as they're still so young and were getting overwhelmed. At first DS was perfectly happy with just his stocking as there was chocolate and gingerbread men in it. 😂 By the end of the day he was looking around for more presents to open. 😂

DH did a good job cooking the turkey, roast potatoes and sprouts and we just had to heat up the veg I had cooked the day before. It was a lovely dinner and the kids both enjoyed it too which was good. Their favourites were the red cabbage and the carrots though. 🤷‍♀️

SA, yes the delivery has definitely gotten worse, every week there are things that are unavailable or that they give us stupid substitutes for.  The even more annoying thing is that we then go to the shop for the missing things and they almost always have them. 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't use it but it's easier than attempting to drag the kids round the supermarket/fitting it around shift work etc. We started getting the deliveries again when DD was born last year as it was much easier to at least get the basics delivered every week.
