If you return the item then you've certainly lost those "two days" of work , but are you really complaining about that loss of time?

You won't receive any other compensation for those hours other than the £100 already offered.

Depends what kind of work you're doing I suppose .
I use processor taxing software (vmware, final cut pro, scripts and deeply inefficient home written software, etc.,) and like I wrote previously I can't tell the difference whichever laptop I'm using.

But given that the processor and memory spec of your laptop is the same as the 2015 model, what exactly about your 'processor taxing software' is going to have an issue?

    I would say no !

So then return the laptop and stop making a fuss. Or were you expecting us to tell you that you could expect a tidy sum from John Lewis for the terrible inconvenience you've suffered because the laptop isn't up to handling your processor taxing software? Out of interest, what is it?

And here's the terrible thing, they've come out with a 2016 laptop that has even better specs, and if you wait a bit longer that will be superseded by something better too. Does your processor taxing software automatically increase it's processing taxing capabilities to make it unsuitable for slightly older models? Or was that just an excuse to complain that you're unhappy with what John Lewis have offered?

Like several of us have said before, the spec is fine (the processor is barely any slow than today's top end models), and the price with the additional discount is a good deal. If you were over the moon and are now gutted because of a slight difference in spec (and it is slight, no mater how much you want to tell yourself otherwise), then chalk that down to first world problems and get a sense of perspective.

My time is valuable - so yes .

Would you not be upset if you had wasted 2 working days ?

I'd struggle to waste two working days installing software...I'd use the time to do other things while it installed itself. Work/coffee break/make some phone calls/lunch/some more work/another coffee/more work related business....X2?

Did you really spend two whole days simply installing software and doing nothing else? I find that hard to believe.

Getting back to the OPs questions.

My question is , am I entitled to any more than an apology and the options above ?
    No.
Or , should I be satisfied with what is on offer ? .
    Yes.

Everything else you've written is superfluous fluff that is irrelevant to what John Lewis are required to do and what you're entitled to.

    Woah ... someones touchy

Apologies if I hurt your feelings somehow dsdhall .

If you can't tell the difference when using 2014 and 2015 spec'd machines then that's ok .
The fact that someone else canreally shouldn't be a cause of such vexation to you .
    It's not a competition lol!

I work in sound design , music production and sound engineering .

To give YOU some perspective :
The processor of course is not the only important factor.
The graphics card has a bearing .
The flash drive is also intrinsic when streaming high density audio .
Both of the aforementioned are up-rated in the 2015 model ... which I thought I was buying .

Forgive me if I ignore your final couple of paragraphs .. they're pointless and state the obvious.

    Appreciate your input ;)

Jeez ! what happened in your lives to make you lot such a cynical bunch ?

FYI , two days installing and licensing software is a drop in the ocean .
It will take weeks to install everything I use .

I won't explain further for fear of offending "dsdhall" or risk "Moneyineptitude" questioning my integrity.

If you are using it for work the purchase would be fully tax deductible and therefore I don't understand why you wouldn't buy the latest version where there are apparently significant improvements on the previous version?

    Is this B2B transaction?

Long and the short either return or take their offer.
