Strictly speaking they have to take a couple of measurements to make sure there is jo error, so in theory if you were quick you might have time to react, however in reality they want to make as much cash as possible and there have been many cases of false readings being used to prosecute drivers.

Basically, just stick to the limits.

    No they don't.

You can get devices that jam the speed camera and stop it from getting a reading of your speed. These are illegal but the way to reduce suspicion is having it set so it only blocks it for a few seconds giving you enough time to slow down then allowing them to take a reading of your speed.

You can also get a matching device to fit to your garage so that the garage sends out a similar signal to a speed camera then the device responds with the "blocking signal" which opens the garage. This can then be used as a defense in court and you can say that you never intended for it to be used to block speed cameras. Although I have seen a case where it went to court and the guy using this defence never had a garage!.

If the Police catch you with one they are likely to prosecute you for perverting the course of justice which almost always results in jail time.

The Police are very proactive on these and if they suspect you have a jammer they are likely to follow it up

If yur licence is important, the easiest way is tom simply observe the speed limits

    They're not.

However, using one could lead to a charge of perverting the course of justice, or of obstructing a police officer. The former may see you jailed, wich is a high price to pay for trying to avoid three points and a £100 fine.

If it's a jammer that you have seen, then yes, perfectly legal to buy and to have fitted to your car.
They only become illegal one they are turned on and used to block speed detecting equipment.

Use one and get caught and if the CPS decide to use you to make an example, you could well end up with a criminal record for perverting the course of justice, something that will make a £100 fine and 3 points or a speed awareness course seem minor in comparison.

As has been stated many times. Detecting the police or speed checking devices is pointless if they have already detected you.

You should point to a source , as it's a pointless argument, those that know, know they are illegal, all the garage door openers I'm aware of use a radio key code system.
