Thanks CathT, I went to A&E two days afterwards - it was painful but I kinda assumed (or hoped) it would clear up with rest. Still not much better so the GP is talking about sending me for an MRI. Between this and my knee I am almost ready to give up on this leg! On the bright side, gym membership renewal comes up in a couple of weeks and I don't have to worry about not being able to afford it right now!
Thankfully the cat is really not bothered by the tree. It's been left pretty much alone.
Couple of cashback wins this morning - got £25 off an £80 shop at Waitrose which means we could get some slightly nicer Christmas food and brings it down to a normal super market price.
We've had the fluffball for a year so the pet insurance renewal came through. £180 renewal quote, switched using TCB and picked up £60 cashback on an £84 annual premium.
Only four more days of work until Christmas, and one student. Then a five day weekend and I am SO excited.

That switcheroo for fluffball insurance sounds **brilliant**, well done you! And good to hear that said fluffball isn't bothering the tree2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks KC, was really happy with it. Hoping the house insurance is just as good next year.
Thanks CathT and Busy Mee. We had a lovely few days, hopefully you all did as well?
Merry Christmas, fellow MFW folk, hope you all had a good one. We had our four day weekend together which was amazing, but over far too quickly and back at work today.
We downed a coffee for Grandad (which is a shame because most of us don't like coffee), met my SiL's Mum's new partner who seems very nice, and I think everyone was happy with their gifts!
Mr M put together a hamper of all my favourite treats, a new boardgame and some novelty oven gloves (they're sharks!). I got him a gift as a reminder of each of the 12 holidays we've taken together. Sadly finances didn't stretch to surprising him with lucky 13 but we did start to plan it anyway. My parents brought us some lovely looking new saucepans and I'm looking forward to trying them in the new kitchen (3 weeks!)
Bad news on the foot, still no improvement so have been referred for an MRI. Hopefully they will come up with an answer. Would really like to shift some weight in 2018.

This is such a step forward on the 300k we were at towards the end of 2016. If we can carry on at this pace we'll be mortgage neutral (if not MF entirely) in 9 years. So I hope we can continue this into next year.
2018 Targets:
1. Pay back £1500 parent loan
2. Complete all house repairs
3. Reduce overall figure to £240k
4. Build up £10k emergency fund
5. Find a new job
6. Lose excess 3 stone
Dead easy, right? Finally got our grocery shopping in today. Picked up two GF pizzas on the reduced counter for only £1.50 each (normally £3.50). And we got a Christmas reindeer plant pot (it has wellies on it's feet!) that was originally marked as £10 but half price. It went through the till at 50p, so happily getting ready for next Christmas.0 -
That's a great achievement this year - and I see you're upping the stakes for next year. You go girl!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks KC! It's nice to put all the figures for the year down and realise that we have made steps forward. I really love the idea of having it all cleared in our 30s (even though right now all are debts are running at or below inflation) so that we're free.
Having like minded people, like yourself, here is really helpful too!
Got my MRI booked too. Really impressed with it - GP said they would send the referral at 6:30pm, had a phone call from the clinic at 10am the following morning and all booked for the 9th January. Then they can tell me what's broken and hopefully it will be all fixed soon.0 -
Sending healing vibes for your foot.0
