  • I'm sure insightful financial wizards will post after me but from my point of view I think you are doing brilliant with the income you have. Well done :)

I have redone my budget for the next 2 weeks and found £120 to pay for my glasses, am so pleased not to be using a credit card. I have been shopping today , kept in my budget , bought birthday cards from my present fund. Debt busting isn't easy sometimes but feeling very positive .

I am going away for 11 days in April/may to Cyprus all paid for. How much spending money do you think is adequate we are half board in a hotel on the beach in the centre of everything. We will be buying lunch , couple of coffees, 2 or 3 glasses of wine , plus 2 or 3 non alcoholic drinks. Won't be buying any tat or souvenirs. Will probably go on one day trip costing about £30. I am thinking around £300 , what do other people think. I have saved £220 so far .

  • My employer does offer free eye tests, however I don't have to pay for eye test any longer , as family member has glaucoma and I am over 40. That's the good news , the bad news is I need glasses and I need to find £120 by next Wednesday. I have got a discount on my two pairs of glasses as the opticians are friends .

Now need to find this money . Do I pay with cc and pay off monthly , do I do a money transfer from my new 0% card and just add to debt ? All help useful.

Thank you to Scott-Weil and legitclaims for dropping by?

I would suggest you to make some savings for your expenditures apart from your plans... squeeze down from any section you can to find some spare pennies...

Well what a busy week, 2 NSD and have eaten out twice this week once was free and the other came out of my spends. Should have eaten out last night as well but cooked for my friend instead , had some wine leftover from Christmas so very happy with a £4.50 spend at Aldi for ingredients rather than paying £20 for a meal (my half) . Spending tonight at another friends , then have my grandson overnight Saturday so not bad at all.

My parents haven't been well this week, have been calling in to see them to make sure they are ok and get them shopping. Hopefully they will be on the mend.

Work has been very busy with training 2 days this week, .

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by my diary this week , all gave been helpful as ever.

I managed to pay for my glasses in cash and no cc has been used, which is a wonderful feeling. Payday is in 9 days and I will have enough money for once.

Splendid weekend spent with staying at a friends Friday night nothing spent apart from petrol getting there. Then last night babysitting for my 2 grandchildren, so nothing spent again. Nothing beats spending time with them. Today was shopping , well under budget again. Have learnt this month I don't have to have a cupboard and freezer full of food , but still not knowing what I am eating in the week. Meal planning has made life so much easier, especially when I have been to the gym. Batch cooking has helped with this.

Next month : need to up petrol budget by £10
Put all money made on eBay on snowball payments to cc. Have managed extra £15 this month so far.
I will have had £103 left in bills account , but have paid for glasses with it.
Will put more in emergency fund if I have any left over next month.

It's been a good experience so far , feel in command of my finances for the first time in a long time.
