I did indeed go to York last summer - had a lovely weekend, we go pretty regularly for the day too. I love the place.

Your afternoon tea sounds lovely. Was that in the hotel by the bridge...if it was I bet it was delicious.

    Yay to wage rise. :T:T

I love York too! One of my favourite places in the UK! Can't really help on accommodation recommendations I'm afraid although as I stay at DD's when I go up there. York has a good visitor's website - perhaps have a look there?

Hope you get the extra in the pay packet this month!

Morning Cumbria. I'm a big fan of pen and paper as well. I'd be totally lost without my notebook by my side.

We went to York a few years ago when the DC's were little and booked into a Premier Inn. Always found these great value for overnight stays but I expect you'll be looking for something a little bit more upmarket. It's a lovely place although I was shocked at the queues for Betty's tea rooms. I knew they had a good reputation but I'm not sure I'd stand in the rain in order to get a brew :rotfl:

    Have a lovely day. x
  • Great news on the salary rise :). I love York too but haven't been for years.

Thank you for all the comments on York, it's a work in progress . Premier inn would be perfectly acceptable.

Today we have had the sad news that one of my aunties has passed away in her sleep at age 92. It is my dads sister , he is one of 9 and only the 3 youngest are now still alive. This auntie married a British serviceman at the age of just 17 and was brought to the uk to the South West by him. He was a marvellous man , taught her English and they spent many happy years together. She was one of my favourite aunts. It will depend on logistics whether we go to the funeral.

My dad had his biopsy yesterday, he is a little sore but he never complains. He goes on the 21st for his results. It is a timely reminder that live is so precious and you should grasp every opportunity with both hands.
Friday was childminding day , it was busy as ever . DGD is a proper little character now and chats non stop , don't know where she gets it from:rotfl:
DGS got all his spellings right at last and got a certificate for that, so he was all smiley as well.

Yesterday after running round in the morning cleaning my place , I went to the big town and met my virtual friend , who is now a proper friend. We had a good chat over afternoon tea , then a walk round the town. Am sure we will meet up again in the coming months.

Have been batch cooking this afternoon and the freezer is now groaning with meals. No Zumba tomorrow as I am babysitting straight from work, so it will be a long day.

Money wise , I am doing ok I do have a lot to pay for in the next few months but I have forecast it is all doable from my salary.

Off to have some pasta for dinner and then sit and watch tv. The weekend goes way to fast .
