Thank you to everyone for best wishes.
We did t get off to a good start Wednesday , delayed by 15 mins leaving Manchester owing to a door failure . Then we got stuck in the signalling failure , we slid into Euston 90 minutes late.:(
The underground proved to be a trial for my mum who at nearly 80 did magnificently well but vowed never to use it again. When we emerged at White City we got a taxi to the hospital as think she was traumatised by the whole experience:eek:
Hospital accommodation was very good , we went for a wander , far to late for Harrods , but we did find Wormwood Scrubs Prison right next to the hospital. Slept ok it was very quiet .
Breakfast in the hospital restaurant, got to appt which was for10.30. First I had a battery of breathing tests , CT scan and X-ray. We then waited an hour to see the lady professor.
Wow she was amazing, spent an hour with us , yes an hour . It would seem my lungs are all mended and I need to carry on a normal life , not worrying over every cough I get. My cough has now got nothing to do with my previous condition. I have been tested for a genetic condition that could have been the cause of the initial problem. I am so grateful to this professor I have learnt so much about the condition i have had . My GP will be getting notifications of it all so hopefully I may not be going as often.
I walked out of the hospital to glorious sunshine , feeling like I had been given a fresh start in life. I may need follow ups in our local hospital in years to come, but my lungs are very good now :j

Following on , oh my London is so expensive. You need a good wage to live there.
Money:
Virgin will be reimbursing train fare for journey down. £62.50.
Accommodation was £58 so that is good.
Plusnet have paid me the £50 for taking up the broadband and phone with them.
I need to reassess my budget for the rest of the month tonight as I have spent some money in London on food and drink.
Childminding today , feel tired but at least I can have an early night tonight. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

That's excellent news about your lungs Cumbria, I'm really pleased
. It was well worth the trip to London.
I agree that London is ridiculously expensive. We bought sandwiches in the supermarket and ate them in the car to keep costs down, but not so easy when you need an evening meal.
I hope you and your mum have recovered from the tiring journey. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Glad for your good news Cumbria Lass
That is a relief.
There's a strike on Piccadilly line so the whole underground experience is more hellish than normal!0 -

You must be over the moon after your consultation Cumbria! Congratulations,:j
Sorry to hear your mum was traumatised by the tube. I think she did very well under the circumstances. It can be a loud, crowded place travelling in the central London zones, especially daunting if you are elderly, aren't used to it and have to change stops.
Good news on the fare reimbursement and I hope you weren't too shattered after your childminding duties today! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
