Are you talking about your phone or some online system?

My phone has a comprehensive call list in the menu and shows all numbers in and out and whether they connected or not. If yours doesn't and you need that info buy a phone that shows it - mine is a BT Call Guardian based BT 8610.

Online I can't help other than to say I don't use a call package from my phone/broadband provider I use Vonage VOIP and that shows every call in and out too (it dates back from when I was on VM cable whose phone charges are/were far too high)

Interestingly I have been using Call Protect for over a year. Looks like they have found a way around BT's Call Protect Service as the number shows on my phone but if you try to add it to your unwanted calls list the number isn't mentioned. Call Protect told me the last number that rang was a friend and doesn't mention 01244 780011. (I dialled the Call Protect number (1572) straight after the call, same thing happened earlier too. So can't block it...!!!8230; Didn't take them that long to devise a way around it did it!

Is there a limit to the amount of numbers you can add to the block list? If yes, perhaps your block list is full?

Yes, there is a limit of 100 numbers. I've reached mine several times, then deleted a few of the oldest ones from the blacklist. The pests seem to regularly change their numbers so I've not had the older ones from 18 months or so back turn up again. BT apparently have their own blacklist that should block the worst offenders at source but I don't know how effective that is.

BT CallProtect is presumably blocking the numbers I have blacklisted. (While 14 calls have been sent to junk voice mail, there are no messages there, but I presume this is good news.) The problem is that scammers seem to have access to a huge number of disused or spurious numbers to get round call blockers with. On who-called.co.uk, you can see that they use a number for just a day or so.

BT Call Protect helps to prevent unwanted nuisance calls.

There is no promise it will be 100% effective, but in my experience it has been successful in reducing the majority of such nuisance calls.

Unfortunately there is little that can be done to prevent those who are determined to scam you. But if the calling number is disused or spurious, it will not presumably be shown the callers other advertising material such as their website.

Consider reporting scammers to Action Fraud, particularly if you glean information from the call that may help identify them.

I had a call on 27/05/2019 from an automated message saying something like "This is BT, will disconnect broadband service within 24 hours as accounts in your area have been accessed without authorisation. Please press 1 to speak to an advisor or 2 if you have already taken action."
The number was 01242 093801 which is an invalid number. As far as I can see, any landline would not start with a zero.
I have BT Call Protect in place.

I had that same call on a number of occasions, the last time was 13th May but the call was from 1441206331113. I had 5 calls that day, one from a microsoft scam call.

I just will not answer the phone for unknown numbers which do not identify themselves on the answerphone.

It is only been about the last 6 weeks that I have received these marketing and scam calls. I have almost been free from them for many years apart from the odd very rare marketing call which were only about once in 6 months. I am registered with the TPS which seemed to stop most of it from UK numbers.

BTW all UK numbers should start with a zero unless something has changed in recent times. My home number begins with zero.

I have activated BT call Protect today so will see how it goes.

I complained to BT prior to them rolling out Call Protect regarding nuisance calls and being ex directory and registering with Call Preference service years before....there solution buy one of there phones!! No way, so I but a message on my answer phone saying that I am sorry can't take you call I may be unavailable or your number is not recognised etc, it really cut down the calls - plus it gives me time to view the number or hear the start message should I want to pick it up.
Do use call protect also, but maybe I am speaking to soon - but seems to have been months since I got an unwanted call.
Has anyone noticed that these calls seem to come in batches, almost like it's UK this month!
