Re the high legs in M&S Indie I too like those but lately have switched to the high rise shorts and they are very comfortable, sit above the tummy and no vpl at all.
I have bought some high rise shorts too - they're ok if they are pretty ones but plainer ones I am not so keen on - bit too close to looking like men's or old lady pants.
At least thongs seem to be pretty much out of fashion now, I used to get so frustrated when I'd see bras I like and the only matching knickers were thongs. I know you don't get any VPL with them but I bought one pair once after a friend claimed they were really comfortable and I couldn't even persuade myself to leave the house wearing them. Looked horrid and so uncomfortable. Very unhygienic too from what I've read. M&S also seem to offer a couple of different styles of knickers to go with some of their bras these days, so even if one is too low rise at the front, the other is quit likely to be high legs or high rise shorts.
I had a lovely walk with friends yesterday and we then went to the pub and came second in the quiz to round off a good weekend. Today is about getting ready for my Easter trip away as I am out every night this week. I have dropped my car off at the garage for its MOT and service, it's not really due till the end of the month but they can add time on if you do it a little early and I thought better to do it before I go off and do a 600 mile round trip plus some driving around the local area to get to walk start points. Probably will need new tyres at the back so not going to be cheap. If it's done early enough I might take it to the car wash too - in theory better to do after the trip but it's looking dirty enough I am a bit embarrassed to pick my friend up in it!
I stopped at M&S food on my walk back from the garage and got some healthy food for the week - couldn't be bothered with making lots of stuff for this week as only home until Friday morning so just got some salads and soups plus a stir fry for lunch for today. Will get an Ocado order sorted for next Tuesday as I am not working then so will do my food prep for the week then.
Will get all my hiking kit packed today and start on my stuff for the evenings, but won't finish that till Thursday as I have to pick up my jeans from the dry cleaners where they are being taken up on Thursday morning and I want to be able to take them with me.
Ceroc tonight, always a good start to the week, although I mustn't stay so late this week, ended up getting home really late and going to work quite tired the next day.
Have a fab week all. I might not get to post before so have a good Easter. x0 -
:rotfl:
Dentists today.......£350
Opticians next week - reckon another £200 or so.
It's like trying to keep an old clapped out car on the road.
Thongs. Urgh. If push came to shove I would rather go commando.
Just finished reading a book called "The Gospel According to Coco Channel". As you might expect Some very interesting observations about style and "simplicity". Well worth a read.
Another recent read I can recommend is a book called "Elegance" by Kathleen Tessaro.. It is a work of fiction, a charming little romance of sorts but it references the teachings of a French Style Guru called Genieve Antoine Dariaux.
I also managed to get q copy of Mademoiselle Dariaux's original style bible also called "Elegance". That is a bit quaint and outdated by todays standads but I guess some of the basic principles still apply.
They all talk about simplicity, grooming, how to be chic, how to dress both for comfort and elegance - without Turning into M&S woman who lives in elasticated waists and head to toe griege:eek:
Right I'm off for a walk, then prep dinner, tidy round and then give myself a manicure and pedicure.
I'm spending so much on "essential maintenance" this month , i.e. Dentists and glasses, that I don't feel I could justify paying for professional treatments, although technically, because I'm a fully licensed therapist I suppose they could perhaps be construed as. "Professional" treatments. Lol.
Not the same as being pampered in a salon though..
Still I'm looking forward to my hot stone massage and my facial on Thursday, so mustn't winge0 -
ll ouch for your recent expenses, but it's worth it in the long run.
I started googling french chic after your post and all the women seem go be very understated and less 'try too hard'. It's very much an attitude.
I'm off work today as its school holidays. Luckily DD is over the worst of the chicken pox although she is still covered in spots. I may take then to a park today to get them out of the house for some exercise.
Sainsburys have their 25% off clothing from today until the weekend. I had my basket waiting last night!!! I bought two pairs of trousers and a couple of school gingham dresses for DD. the trousers are cotton (I'm quite obsessed with natural materials) and are about £13 with the 25% off, so a great bargain.0 -

LL thanks for the 3 book titles. Only one is in my area library so I have requested it. The other two are on Amazon - one is on kindle so have downloaded a sample and the other I have ordered a second hand one for £2.30 on prime. A small price to pay to try and make myself more elegant:rotfl:
I had my hearing tested on Saturday as I have problems hearing certain programmes on the TV and have to put on subtitles and also problems on the phone. Got told I had perfect hearing but she did give me the name for a phone that has a magnifier which has now arrived and I am just making a list of who to add to my address book.0 -

I've checked online and its 30 days. Keep your receipt though, as my local stores won't let you exchange without a receipt (even when it's just getting a different size!!!).
grunnie well done on the frugal books!!!!0 -
Grunnie. I have problems with some programmes but like you my hearing is fine. I think it's down to acting styles or perhaps production values but I agree it can be frustrating. I have thought it was just me but I noticed ds2 has the same issues. So I don't think it's just us.
Had an IKEA day. I Do like that shop. We got a trolley load of stuff for just under £100. New crockery, cutlery, and kitchen bits and bobs, storage boxes, sofa throws and cushion covers........ a cheap and cheerful refresh for summer.
Then a late slap up lunch in one of our favourite gastro pubs. Time for a nice lazy evening.
Thanks for the heads up re Sainsbobs clothing sale. I'll pop in tomorrow, I could do with some trousers.0 -
Just something to consider with your GP, those of you who seem to have difficultly with hearing some things... DH has a recognised disorder which has been likened to the listening version of dyslexia, as he struggles to hear anything if there are two conversations / radio / TV going on at the same time. His brain cannot process more than one source of voice at the same time, and we discovered it after he went for a hearing test because he thought it was his ears. It's called ADP, auditory processing disorder.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I'm having a lazy evening too LL
Really pleased with my hair. I had a cut and blow dry yesterday with half head highlights. Also had my nails done, shellac in dark red.
Although I don't need to work to school terms now I still feel like I'm officially on holiday. Last night I went to a fascinating talk on caricatures. It's an art appreciation group that meets monthly on Mondays. Now I have moved my dance class I can try it.
Today we've been out for lunch with my favourite in-laws (BIL and SIL). It was great to catch up.
There's been lots of publicity about mumbling in TV programmes recently so don't assume it's a hearing problem.
Ikea's great for storage and bits and pieces to ring the changes cheaply LL Glad you got some nice bits.
Dinner and theatre tomorrow. All go here so good to relax tonight.0 -
Good morning lovely Ladies
Maman. Bet you feel fabulous with your new hair do and red nails. How glamorous.
Well how are we all.
Easter is upon us. Where does the time ago. I always feel that if it's Easter then summer is just round the corner. Or at least we can kiss winter goodbye. :rotfl:
I'm off into the city centre for my massage and facial later so I think I will have a little mooch round the shops afterwards. I picked up 2 pairs of linen trousers in sainsbobs yesterday. With the 25 percent off they came to £29 for the two so was happy with that.
It's ds2s girlifriends 30th birthday next week so need to look for a little something. I was thinking an evening clutch bag. Call in at the flower man - street vendor who sells the nicest and cheapest flowers. He has just branched out (sorry pun not intended) into selling fruit now too, so I'll stock up on berries. So much cheaper than the supermarket.
Other than that no real plans - just a nice pottering about sort of day.
Have a great day. Keeeep fabbing.0
