LL - more gentle virtual hugs coming your way. I hope by now that you have had your walk and that the sun is shining with you too.

My little cheer up this morning was to see that there are now quite a few crocus flowers out, both in containers and the flower beds, the snowdrops were late, but have been going for a couple of weeks and the hedgerows are thick with them in a lot of the nearby villages. Time for a NT visit I think (even though half-term hols start tormorrow). Daffies are pushing up through the ground everywhere too:D:D

Take care, no kicks, just gentle encouragement.

I really want to grow flowers this year. I have some daffodils bulbs and sunflower seeds. I think I'll plant them tomorrow.

Another tk max bargain today. I found a sissley t-shirt for £4, it's plain cotton, but not too thin. I do struggle with finding tops to fit, due to my chest, so it was a nice find.

Sorry to hear your dad is managing to be difficult from 'beyond the grave' so to speak LL. Hope the sun is shining on you today.:)

Go for a bit of gardening chanie, however small a start. The bulb lasagnes that I planed in the autumn are starting to come through and I'm really pleased with my first attempts. For just a few pounds (most bulbs and plants were from Aldi:money:) it's giving me lots of pleasure. the crocuses around the edges are up and daffs shooting through the middle although not in flower yet. We walked through the winter garden and saw many snowdrops at NT property this week Maddie but not a patch on Kingston Lacy. I expect you've seen those, they're amazing.:money:

I picked up my sonic brush from Boots and jeggings from Sainsbury's yesterday although not tried either yet. I'll do it tomorrow when 'home alone'. ;)

Went to theatre last night and didn't feel fab. I was dressed smartly enough but my hair's a mess. Thank goodness I have an appointment on Monday, always manage to leave it just that few days too late!

Glorious day here. Sunny and 11 degrees. It gave us a laugh that our football team have been taken to Southern Spain for a break before Wembley next Sunday and it's only 6!:rotfl:

Hope you're all having a good weekend whatever you're up to.:A

Apparently we are due for some nice fine weather over the next few days, warmer than Majorca.....:rotfl:

Well I have had a terrible week. I wont bore you will the details but I have been AWOL posting on a thread over on the old style board if you want to catch up. I have been able to pour my heart out on there and really get things off my chest.

It's all to do with my late father, the will, and my sister. It's been horrible and I have felt absolutely wretched.....but it's over and I'm just going to put it all behind me and make a fresh start.....yet again!!!

Gawd my life seems to be an endless succession of fresh starts. But I guess that's what's really important. Not how often we fall or fail but how often we get back up again.

So I'm back up and ready to give it another go......

Onwards and upwards, remembering the elephant.

Ps it's called "the other thread opened my eyes"

It has been great therapy for me. Very MSE. To pay for that level of therapy would have cost me a small fortune.

Maman - yes Kingston Lacey snowdrops are lovely. Need to look in the NT book and see if any snowdrop recommendations locally:D I quite agree about not feeling great if our hair not right, I was amazed how nice mine looked today for a lunch meet up with a rellie and our OHs, I did it in such a rush and it was painful trying to reach to back, haircut on Thursday for me:j

LL- I came across the other thread and have been reading along, I have been struggling with the impact on my life of decisions made when I was a small child, but the stories of yourself and the other posters have helped me get it into perspective. Nothing like as awful as you all had to go through thank goodness.:)

  • LL I took the time to read all the posts on the other thread and I must applaud you for being able to share what was happening to you and how your past had affected you, yet ultimately strengthened you, so that you were strong enough to see your sister for who she really is and to start to distance yourself from her. It is a real shame that your Father's death has made your sister reveal herself to you, so that you can never truly trust her again.

Renouncing the money from your Father and the land is the best decision you could make for yourself and your future. :D You did not want your future blighted by your Father and your sister, so you made the right decision for you and your boys. I am cheering you on.:grinheart

I've not read all the other thread LL but get the gist of it. I agree it's best to just move on. Your sister will just have to live with her conscience if she has one. She may realise that deep down it's unfair or she may not as she's been brought up to be special snowflake.

When we were discussing favourites on here the other week I posted about my DH. He felt his mother favoured the more dependent of his siblings and it hurt him so he avoided visiting her. I managed to show him that she was proud of his achievements really (which she was) so they were reconciled before she died. There was no question of inheritance as she'd spent what she had while she was alive. We didn't begrudge her holidays or even the money 'loaned' to various siblings who always seemed to need help. We didn't need that sort of help because we always stood on our own two (or should that be four;)) feet. I think the siblings thought we were lucky when there was no luck about it just hard work and sensible choices. In some ways I don't even blame the siblings as I think she'd brought them up to be dependent by forgiving them all sorts of irresponsible behaviour right from childhood when maybe a bit of tough love was needed.

Reading what's happened to you I realise how blessed I've been with my own parents who treated us all equally. Yes, we had different relationships with them but they were completely straight with us financially both with their wills and when they were alive. My mother used to insist on sending holiday spending money as she knew my brothers (with young families) would welcome it. Our DDs were older and we didn't need it but we just accepted graciously as it gave her pleasure.

On the fab front: I've tried on the jeggings. I won't keep this particular pair but I think I could like jeggings. I have a long body and these aren't long enough from waist to thigh so they're uncomfortable. I might try a larger pair to see if more fabric does the trick but stays tight enough on the legs. If not, I'll try other brands perhaps in long length. I can see that M&S do high rise, long length jeggings so they might suit better.

I've unpacked my brush and read instructions. It's on charge now to be used tomorrow.

It's not as spring like today as yesterday but it is dry and fairly mild. No plans to do much today except sort some paperwork and cooking. Tomorrow I'm having my hair done and going out to dinner so I'll save fabbing for then.:)

Thanks for all your kind words, ladies. Hopefully the worst is over. She has apologised (a bit half heartedly and full of self justification). I am not one to refuse an olive branch when it is offered but I am afraid I will never be able to view her in the same light, she has broken my heart and smashed our relatiinship to pieces.

We will patch it up over time but it will never be the same.

Anyway time to move on. But yes MAman "snowflake" is about right.

I notice you have booked a holiday in Budapest and Prague. DS1 loved Budapest, said it's beautiful, it's one of his favourites. I haven't been. I adored Prague though. We went one February and it was like a winter wonderland.. It really is like stepping back into a fairy tale.

The suburbs are a bit grim......Soviet style tower blocks but the old city is enchanting. Check out the market square and be sure to watch the clock strike the hour, noon is best. The Charles Bridge is stunning, if you see it at dusk it becomes very gothic, like something out of a Victorian novel, like Dracula.......st Wenceslas square is impressive.

All around there are lovely cobbled steers,, lots of cafes and restaurants, some nice shops and the cakes are to die for. ......some great little bookshops, lots of amber jewellery and of course if you like Swarovski crystal you will be in heaven.

The opera house had sold out, so if you are interested book in advance. We did manage to see a fabulous puppet show......they are big on marionettes.

The old city is actually quite small and compact, it's a great city for getting round on foot.

Check out "Misson Impossible" - the first one - it's set in Prague.

    Hello Ladies :)

I did read the other thread LL and just wanted to say that you have my utmost admiration for the way you have handled the situation with your Sister.

Hope you get on well with your new brush Maman - I am still toying with the idea of one but haven't taken the plunge as yet.

Thanks for the suggestion about the colours grunnie - I shall have a look around for a nice scarf to go with the Royal Blue :T

Funeral to attend in London on Wednesday - not looking forward to driving the nearly 300 mile round trip all in one day but needs must :( (OH does not drive )
