I watched it Sugarbaby
and you were the star of the show! :T
I was impressed with your hair too and then I remembered what you've told us about wigs. It looked fab!
Mostly loved your fantastic bubbly personality, that shone through
You and your family must be so proud. Well done!
Exactly this SUgarbaby. I loved watching you. You made my day. I kept thinking I know this lady,........;)
You were truly fabulous........ that should be champers of course.
Well storm Doris is doing her thing right now, very windy here. I don't have to go out today although I love walking in the wind - when the boys were little they loved windy days, we would go out and play. Neighbours probably thought we were nuts. :rotfl:
I might go for a stroll later.
Welcome Lainey. So sorry to hear about your mum and your horse. You really have been through the mill haven't you. Don't worry about not being upbeat all the time. We have to accept the sorrows in our lives and that means being quiet and reflective so we can work through our grief. And yes when necessary we need to rant occasionally and let off steam.
So you have come to the right place. The ladies here are truly kind and supportive. Take it gently, don't be too hard on yourself. Spring is just round the corner, the sun will work its magic.
In the meantime my I suggest that you first concentrate on looking after your health, so plenty of sleep, little naps when you need them, healthy, nutritious food and a bit of gentle exercise. A walk in the fresh air, weather permitting works wonders. It clears the cobwebs and puts a glow in our cheeks.
Re the grey pallor, well this goes with stress, grief, lack of sleep etc may I suggest you try some brightening face masks. Also don't forget to drink lots of water, it doesnt just cleanse the system it also helps plump up the skin again.
Now is the time to put yourself first again. So gentle self care. Sleep will be your greatest healer.
Wear something nice, even just a bright scarf will lift your spirits and add colour to your face. And make up can work wonders. Just start taking care of your skin and in a few weeks you will see the benefits. Maybe treat your self and get your hair done.
Try a bit of Hygge. .......turn your home into a comfortable sanctuary where you can recoup your energy and restore your joire de vie. ......
I currently have a vase of deep red roses (from my Late husband for Valentine's Day). I cut one out and have it in a single bud vase by the side of my bed. Its the first thing I see in the morning. It lifts my spirits. I have a bunch of cheap daffs on my kitchen window Cill. They cheer up a dull winters day.
The day after Valentines our local sainsbugs reduced all the choccies. I bought myself a little bag of heart shaped truffles for the grand sum of 30p I have a couple with my coffee after my dinner.
Ladies ....we should all indulge ourselves a little now and then. We should surround ourselves with beauty and wrap ourselves in comfort.
Especially when we have nasty things happening in our lives.
Comfort and beauty needn't break the bank......in fact in can be free.
Look around your garden today I bet you could make up a small posey of flowers with one or two blooms and a few interesting pieces of greenery.
Right time for. A Delicious cup of coffee, and a breakfast of scrambled eggs and a slither of smoked salmon.
Luxury on a budget. :rotfl:0 -
I had a quick look at what was in the papers sugarbaby. There are some sad, unpleasant people online (which is why I like this thread so much) but the Daily Express was positive as was the feedback.
I was a bit disappointed that you didn't tell them you loved karaoke though!:rotfl:
Doris is having a go here too but it's not too bad, just high winds really.
I was out to dinner again yesterday and decided to wear the same outfit as Monday (long, green pleated silky skirt and matching jumper). I've had the skirt for years as it was one of my favourite things that I kept when I put weight on. It's having a new lease of life as I've managed to buy a jumper, cardigan and sleeveless top that match it perfectly. A perfect stranger asked me for directions in the car park last night and commented that we'd eaten in the same restaurant as she'd noticed my lovely, swirly skirt as I was going upstairs.:D I was really pleased and what a nice person for taking the trouble.
I've been out for a walk this morning. DH and I joined one of those health walks that one of his friends leads. I enjoyed it very much and hope we go regularly. They were a nice crowd of people and we had coffee afterwards. I think I'm more likely to get in exercise with something organised than relying on myself.
I'm keeping up the fabbing including the sonic brush and facial scrub. I think there's a bit of an improvement but maybe just my fancy. Whatever happens, a bit of extra time pampering myself has to be worth it.:)
Shandy, you looked great in the photo. Well done.:T Thanks for the jeans tip floss, I might do click and collect to be sure of having my size available. LL, we're going to London on Sunday so if I'm near a Kiko store I'll get some cream.
Back soon.:)0 -
Thank you for the warm welcome ladies and for the lovely advice
I know it's not very OS to throw money at the problem but have ordered a couple of treats to help with my fabbing, a gentle rose exfoliater from Elemis to brighten my skin and a herbal serum from Senspa to go under my daily moisturiser.
My new eating regime is certainly helping as is the increase in the amount of water am drinking every day, aiming for 2 litres a day with restricted tea and coffee. Food wise its a low carb plan, not strict as the BSD but along those lines and have to say my tummy is already feeling less bloated without the carbs.
You are so right when you say about looking after myself LL the gentle exercise is easily fixed as I have two dogs who love nothing more than a walk ( although not today as it's blowing a hoolie out there ) and with fresh flowers & candles on my hearth my home does feel very cosy.
Being mindful of making an effort certainly helps, my DOH took the morning off so that we could go and test drive a new car for him. Last week I would have thrown on any old jean/jumper combination but instead I went with straight navy trousers, a grey cashmere jumper and my navy Boden mac, with brown boots and bag I felt very 'together' especially as I put some make-up on too0 -
Well, this week has rushed by. I was busy in a good and productive way on my day off - sorting out food for the week and doing exciting things like cleaning all my hiking boots (I have three different pairs... really only need two - heavier leather ones for winter and lighter fabric for summer but there was a mistaken purchase of some fabric ones that were not much lighter than the leather ones in the middle). Then working late Tuesday, Ceroc Wednesday, working a bit late yesterday then doing a little post work shopping at Whole Foods and due to go to a different Ceroc class tonight.
At the weekend I have yoga and an afternoon "tea party" which I suspect will be more alcoholic than tea (albeit I will still be on the mineral water), a Ceroc workshop and the pub quiz. Failed to get round to doing any extra exercise but still lost a little bit more weight - basically a stone down in the 5 weeks which I am thrilled by! Clothes are feeling noticeably looser round the middle and my friend I got to Ceroc with noticed my waist has shrink.
LaineyT welcome - low carb is what I am doing too and am sure it's the best option as for me it's meant replacing bread, pasta etc. with more salad and vegetables. I wouldn't worry about buying nice products for the skin not being very MSE, it's a whole heap cheaper than letting things go too far and then wanting to do something more dramatic like surgery! If you can afford it why not have a little luxury?
I love flowers and candles too. Whilst I am losing weight there's little point in spending money on things like new clothes (well, not until my current wardrobe is all too big and I've a little way to go for that to be the case as some things were getting a bit snug!) and I don't want to spend on accessories as I have more than I know what to do with. Foodie treats are out.... and I have a stockpile of beauty products to use up.... But flowers - nothing unhealthy about that. I stock up on Parks aromatherapy candles on Achica - they're usually less than half the price you pay in my local shop.
It's dress down Friday today so I think I am going to wear one of my Emily and Fin dresses to work which I can then wear to Ceroc - they are retro styling but often with prints that wouldn't really work for the office - think I might go for the snowflake one as it has short sleeves. Some of my others are sleeveless and the office has been oddly hot some days so I don't want to have to wear a cardigan to cover up my white and wobbly upper arms. I should get round to fake tanning them so they don't look quite so milk bottle-ish!
Have a fab Friday all x0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
FAb Friday!!!!!
What are you going to do today to make your day fabulous.
My son will be at home during the day so I won't be going out, I will be helping him to do some housefabbing. I have some morestuff ready to go on the loft so he can help, with that. I have had another other sweep of my wardrobe so again another bag for the charity shop.
I know it might seem like a waste of money but the clothes I'm giving away this time are all perfectly ok, as new really but they were mistakes. They do nothing for me so out they go.......
From now on I'm only going to wear clothes that make me feel good, unless I'm decorating in which case any old rags will do..
Lainey if you can afford nice products and tthey make your skin feel good then why not. Yes we all try to be frugal and not waste money but as Indie points out prevention is better (and cheaper) than cure.:rotfl:
Ladies - Well done on all the weight losses, you are putting me to shame. I am not doing very well at all. On the plus side my sleep is much improved and I feel much better for it. I can feel my energy returning and my IBS is a lot better.
AT the moment the sun is streaming through the window so hopefully it's for gong to be a nice day.
Have a great day.0 -
Don't ever think it's not worth spending money on yourself Lainey. I'm sure you wouldn't think twice about spending on your nearest and dearest and this thread is all about caring about YOU!
I've been spending on quality products lately, mainly Clarins. As well as loving them I've found that they do go a long way. I have a fantastic serum which literally only needs 2 drops each morning and then that as a base means I don't use so much moisturiser.
That being said, indie, I would urge you to try Palmers Natural Bronze Body Lotion. It's cheap enough in Boots or Superdrug. I find it builds such a good tan I only need to use it a couple of times a week. The pump bottle is great too, makes it so easy to apply. It'll be perfect as arms and legs start to come back on show.
I bought a new hairdryer yesterday as I think the motor on mine is on the way out (keeps cutting off). I do have a travel one as a spare but I'd be devastated to be without one. It always takes e a few days to get used to doing my hair again after it's been cut. If I won the lottery (that's metaphorically as I've never bought a ticket) I'd employ a personal hairdresser.:D
Not too much on today other than some shopping but I will make an effort. Doris has cleared off back to wherever she came from and it's bright and sunny here.:)0 -
Happy Friday everyone :j
It is a lovely one here - beautiful sunshine albeit a bit chilly.
I am another one who has been spending a bit more on my facial products recently and my skin certainly feels better for it
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good face mask for sensitive skin? I have tried a couple of the sachet-type ones but would like to do this once (or twice) a week and wanted to buy a larger pot as I do find the sachets a bit messy.
Must have a wardrobe sort out soon as I haven't bought any new clothes for ages but I might as well wait until Spring arrives now and treat myself to some new outfits. Have any of you lovely ladies bought clothes from the Kettlewell website? I have heard mixed reviews about the quality of their clothing.
Have a great weekend all :T0 -
Can't recommend a face mask (expect LL can but I would definitely check Groupon for good facials. I've had two this year and it's a lovely relaxing experience.
indie buys from Kettlewell for the colours and praised them highly.
My cold is back!
I have to feel well for Sunday so dosing myself up.0 -
I have checked out Groupon for facials Maman but I live 'out-in-the-sticks' and the nearest salons that have the offers are usually in Poole or Bournemouth which mean a 50 mile round trip so any saving on the facial is used up with the travelling & paying to park (which is extortionate in Bournemouth)
Hope your cold gets better before Sunday - are you off to Wembley?0 -
Well my Elemis cleanser has arrived and have to say it smells gorgeous, look forward to using it tomorrow in the shower, am thinking three times a week to start with and see how it goes. Following all your good advice about pampering myself more
I also splashed out on a L'Occitane shea cleanser for those days when I'm not exfoliating, could get used to this fabbing lark :rotfl:
I met my SIL for lunch today, it was quite casual so wore dark indigo jeans with a navy & cream jumper but took time with my make-up, including lipstick which my SIL complimented me on.0
