Saving.......oh your post has just made me smile.....hope your coat recovers.
I've been a bit restless and a tad despondent these last few days.
Today would have been my husband's 60th birthday. It was also when he planned to retire. We had such plans........hey ho......some things just aren't meant to be. But oh I do miss him......:(
I shall just have to make it my mission to live a good and happy life, for him and for me.
Just realised it's only 9 weeks until my Baltic cruise. So at least there's something nice on the horizon.......no pun intended.:rotfl: (but quite apt).
It was a lovely day yesterday and I decided to play hookey. I had a mooch around the charity shops bought a handbag, tan/sage green mix and two lightweight long sleeved tops. Then I went to Asda and Picked up two short sleeved t-shirts and another two lightweight long sleeve sweaters, again perfect for warm spring days or for layering if it's a bit chilly.
It's nice to see lightweight spring clothes coming into the shops. It will be great to see the back of winter. I guess it's partly due to all the stresses and strains of the last few months but although this winter hasn't been too bad weatherwise, it seems to have been a bit of a slog.
My challenge stumbled a bit this month, but I did manage Frugal February, although the grocery spending still needs work But in general I was quite restrained.
As part of my try something new each month I bought some stocks and shares!!! My DS2 is getting quite good at investing so I gave him a small amount to "play with" to see what he can do for me.
Look out Warren Buffet - I am on your tail.
Which brings me to My challenge for March.0 -
Move More March......and Makeover March.
1. Get more physically active....the days are getting longer so Goodbye Sofa Sloth.
This week we have cleared some space in the study as an exercise space. So no more excuses.......:rotfl:
This months "try something new" is to Sign up for the gym.........I am no gym bunny but I want to try swimming and to find some dance/exercise classes.
2. Makeover My Sons House. ....time to get the paint rollers out. And maybe revamp the dining room furniture. One final push to get everything finished this year. Won't get it all done in March but it's a good time to make a start.
3. Makeover Me.....time for some new make up. I have made a list of the kind of products I want to try. Like you Saving I think it's time for a change.
Again I will break down this months challenges into weekly goals.0 -
I wondered round M&S Debenhams and John Lewis looking for tshirts and then bought them in Sainsbury's as they had exactly what I wanted.
LL I have been on 2 cruises and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. There are loads of people on their own. I made friends with a great group who were all on their own when they came onto the ship.
I am a very early riser and the best bit was when a pod of whales came alongside the ship and I wished my OH had been there to share it.
In January I gave up coffee February diet coke ( I was addicted to the stuff) and for March I am giving up biscuits and also cheese. I have lost about a stone so down to a size 22:j
Went to the Boots No 7 counter on Tuesday and asked to be shown how to do my eyebrows as I had 2 eyebrow pencils from The Boots No 7 advent calendar I got for and early Christmas present. Great success as I was doing it too dark and unnatural looking.0 -
Lessonslearned .... After the difficulties the last few months has dealt you, it'-s time to look forward to a new adventure. I can only imagine how you feel, but I know you would be deserving of relaxation and pampering. I find ebay great for clothing also.
grunnie ....... giving up coffee is very difficult, I went decaff but was dragged back onto the stuff. Well done on the weight loss every step is difficult towards a goal but your getting there.
Well,I am going to investigate what treasures the local charity shop has. I love the bright colours and patterns, Even if i see nothing it is good to escape the house.0 -
Just checking in to say I'm keeping up with posts and most fabbing but feeling yuk as my cold has come back.
Hopefully a bit of TLC for a few days and I'll be back to normal.:)0 -
Hi Ladies, Sorry I haven't been posting much- after a week away I've had a lot to catch up on at home, work and in studies too, but I have been reading everyone elses posts.
I finally gave my notice at work. You may remember a few months ago I posted about the stress I've been under and the bullying. Well in the middle of one of the bosses put down lectures I politely stated I was leaving. This comes on the back of another member of staff leaving too. I realized if I didn't get out soon I would have absolutely no self esteem left to be able to even face looking for another job. I am a bit worried I acted on impulse but my family all confirmed my personality has completely changed in the last 6 mos. Physically I've had racing heart rate, nausea, cold sweats and memory loss, mentally and emotionally I feel like it just wasn't going to get any better, no matter how hard I tried, I would never make her happy. It was interesting to read some other posts about narcissists, and then I read the following article that was providentially posted on my FB page. Though I am not in a relationship with her, I was shocked to read, this is my boss to a T. Every single tactic mentioned she has employed on me, including the 'gaslighting' which really had me questioning my sanity and mental health! Anyways - on wards to better things, please keep your fingers crossed for me ladies as I start the job hunting again!

Just a quickie.
Shandy.......you have so done the right thing. Workplace bullying is very common and yes you get narcissistic bosses just as you can get narcissistic fathers like mine. Narcs cause havoc wherever you find them.
I once had the misfortune to suffer bullying at work. I was just 21 at the time, I too thought I was losing my sanity because of the gaslighting,
I too just walked out the job. I used to throw up every morning because I was In such a state. My stomach was permanently in knots. I was losing weight.
My then husband (divorced him a few years later) was totally unsupportive but I just woke up one morning and thought "enough, much more of this and I will be dead".
So like you I just walked away. I felt I was too ill to work full time so I had a month off and then found a little part time job for a while. Did that for about 1 year. Then when I felt better and had regained my self esteem and confidence I landed myself my dream job.
Then I ditched the unsupportive husband........and never looked back.:rotfl:
You can do it Shandy......we are all here. Can you hear the cheers.0 -
I've only ever had one job that made me feel like that Shandy and I lasted less than one month - it is just not worth making yourself ill over - your health is more important that any job
Maman hope you feel better soon - how are you getting on with your new facial brush?
Enjoy your bread-making course chanie
I'm thinking of booking an appointment with a Debenhams personal shopper - has anyone else done this and are you put under pressure to buy lots of items? I really need some help putting a new Spring/Summer wardrobe together and can't really afford to go to a stylist at the moment.
Next Friday I have a day off and my aim is to go through my wardrobe and all the things I have packed away (I can only fit either my Autumn/Winter or Spring/Summer clothes in as I only have one fairly small double wardrobe). It is definitely time for a ruthless cull of items I no longer wear/do not bring me joy

I have a hairdressers appointment on Friday. I'm swaying towards balayage as its relatively low maintenance. I booked the appointment over a month ago, but this Friday was the earliest date I could fit it in.
Am back from the hairdressers and I'm kind of dissapointed. I said I wanted balayage but I wanted to cover the grey. She said I'd need cover the roots not just the ends, which was fine. I told her I had henna on my hair and she said the new colour may not take, but she'd give it a go. The colour has taken in some places. I said I wanted to cover the grey, particularly near my ears, but I still have lots of grey. The effect of the henna wasn't her fault, but she could have done more to cover the grey. As the henna didn't work on the grey, the colour should have worked, but I still have greys. I was there for 3.5 hours and spent nearly £100 and the colour is barely noticeable. It's a lot of time and money and I'm not sure whether to give her benefit of the doubt particularly about the greys.0 -
Chanie maybe you need to get another opinion, then go back to the salon & discuss the outcome and your feelings. I did this about 8/9 years ago, got a fair resolution and a corrective hairdo xx2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
