    Hi all

Disaster: I've fallen for a new perfume having received a sample at a wedding fair, and it's £50+ a bottle. Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Intense. I'm hoping OH might have bought me some for my birthday and if not I'll have a look in duty free next month.

Had my hair cut last night but my hair dresser talked me out of getting it coloured as I was so undecided and the colour had barely grown out. It's now a short bob; longer at the front than the back, with a long sideways swept fringe. I'll go back just before my holiday in February to get it trimmed/coloured so actually it worked out well. I do like it, but I don't love it yet.

An important reminder for you all; if you've been putting off cervical or breast screening, pick up the phone and book it in. I went for a routine cervical screening this morning and whilst it's never pleasant, it wasn't as bad as I remembered from last time.

Maman, M&S have Ren rose and testers if you want to try it. I'm newly converted to the body oil but the bath oil is a default gift purchase for my boys to buy me. Indiepanda, I tried the cream in M&S yesterday and really liked the texture. Feel unique have a body wash and lotion set in their sale at £22.40. I also like the 1 minute flash facial.
Someone said about using one of those puff things (on the use up your stash thread I think) to make nice stuff go further and for me that has transformed the body wash from a pretty smell to a lovely to have item.

So dentists today, for a 3D printed crown. Stop neglecting your teeth ladies - the end result is painful and expensive. I tried not to do bag lady but it's so cold and windy. I layered as usual, black cords, navy long line vest top, navy v neck top (gap), thin black v neck jumper, ugly thick warm grey zip up fleece jacket, nice thick dark grey cashmere cardigan as the top layer. Fitflop mukluks - I live in these to avoid my chilblains problem. I notice some sizes are cheap on Amazon if they appeal to anyone else. I'm currently resisting but at £42 for the furr cuffed ones I am tempted. The bag lady element comes from my very fetching fingerless gloves. I must find some attractive ones, my hands get so cold so they are essential if ugly.

Poor dentist, I probably stink of roses but I think I am nose blind. All the REN rose stuff, PIXI rose face stuff (liking this a lot too - M&S offer box set before Christmas, unless my OH is reading in which case it had been in my stash box for ages :p) and for my perfume, Roses du Chloe.

It's interesting reading about other people's routines and concern areas. My hands and nails are bothering me as my most neglected thing at the moment. Brittle nails keep splitting, as does the skin at the side of them.

Has anybody tried the Boots No7 youthful glycolic peel? It's on offer at £15, and is on 3 for 2:

I haven't got enough points so would have to part with cash.

  • DD255 - don't I feel smug! I had put off my smear but finally went last week!

Someone on here mentioned baby oil as a body moisturiser and I remembered I had some lying about somewhere so have been using that. Managed to makeup, perfume and earing adorn every day this week - will be absolutely exhausted by the weekend.

My walking partner has started a new job so we are walking in the mornings now - 6.30, with torches. It means getting up really early which is hard on cold, dark mornings. What time do others get up???

I bought it at the same price quite a while ago, but before getting to use it I kept getting sore, itchy red allergy breakouts and chickened out using it, so it has remained in the drawer:(, I may try it on the backs of my hands, I will be wearing gloves for a while now we are in winter, so would not have a problem UV damage.

    Hello everyone,

Haven't felt like fabbing of late, had some news which means that I have been advised to get tested for the BRCA1/2 gene. I just wondered if anyone else has had to get this test done? I haven't yet been referred yet, as I've only just received the correspondence. I get mammograms early then normal via the NHS due to family history and have had a non-malignant lump removed last year. I think the odds of having this gene may be as much as 50/50.....? Not quite sure how I feel about this.

    Thanks for listening

Arkers I've been referred for genetic testing due to a family history of bc (not BRCA though). I had a non-malignant lump removed in 1992 at 28, have had cysts drained regularly since 2001 and had 10 years of early annual mammograms & ultrasound scans.

I would suggest you make an appointment with the counselling service that will be offered, and maybe also with your breast care nurse. They will be able to help you come to terms with the advice you've been given and make a decision.

I've had a busy few days - the southern railway strike has meant that I've had a much longer commute to work and its been very tiring, even for a heavyweight commuter like me. Luckily, it's not on tomorrow.

Despite that, I've managed to ensure I looked okay for work - nice clothes and light make up. I can't wait until Friday, as its my day off and the first one to myself in three weeks as the children have only just gone back to school.

I was on on another thread ages ago and the poster recommended having a small paragraph outlining what you want to achieve. So, it could be 'I want to keep up with the fabbing because when I look good, I feel happy and confident'. My version is in my diary and I read it every morning in my head on my way go work. It really helps to keep me focussed and make better decisions. I have noticed it popping into my head at certain times. Anyway, I thought it may help someone.
