Ps apparently the orange sky was something to do with hurricane Ophelia bringing dust from the Sahara.0

And smoke from Portuguese wildfires which is why it smelled so odd.
Orange sky disappeared here, then we had clear sky and wind, and now we have wind and huge, fast-moving orange clouds.0 -
Indie.....sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad (and that your house is turning into a bit of money pit).
Re the coughing at night. Have you tried adding some kind of extra humidity to your bedroom. Maybe just a bowl of water near the radiators.
I have noticed that air conditioning really affects me very badly, it dries up my sinuses, makes my nose bleed and gives me headaches. It also gives me a hacking cough.
So this time I bought a small humidifier to take on holiday for my cabin. It worked like a charm and although lots of people developed what we christened the “Columbus cough” (the ship was called the Columbus) I remained entirely symptom free.
It cost me around £25. It it was worth every penny. I shall definitely use it again in future.
Although it might also be damp spores affecting you. Or perhaps plaster dust from all the work you are having done.
Flo........Going back to clothes and personal style and your dilemma between classic and quirky. One thing J1 remarked upon and it was something that hadn’t registered with me was that most of the women wore black in the evenings, especially on formal nights. When I looked round he was right, very observant of him.
He said he’d noticed that I never wear black. When he asked me why I told him straight it’s because whilst I like black and I think it looks very elegant it does actually make me look like a corpse.
Needless to say he said he didn’t think I could look bad in black (clever man, he knew how to flatter:rotfl:) he also went on to say that he rather liked the fact that I dressed differently from everyone else and that it made a change to see someone wearing a different colour other than black.
So I do think that we should try and go with what we know suits and flatters us so if you like “quirky” then definitely give it a go.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went out for a night of dancing on Sunday evening. I did not stay as long as I had originally planned, because after an hour of almost non stop dancing, I was tired.I really enjoyed my night out though.
I wore the matching body lotion with my perfume. I had on black mascara, bronze/brown eye shadow and clear lip gloss.
I found it ridiculously warm on Sunday evening for October, so I was wearing a red sleeveless top, that is really a summer top and I was warm and comfortable. I took along my black leather jacket, so that I would not be cold on my way home. I wore a long, bias cut, pull on skirt and my black Clarks leather ankle boots. I wore solid gold jewellery with my gold plated Tissot watch.
I am going to Karaoke tonight. I should have another enjoyable evening out.0 -
Hello all
How exciting about the two John's LL :j
Re underwear, if you are bigger boobed I also recommend bravissimo for a fitting. I like Freya and fantasie bras. They do sell them in Debenhams as well though so you could try there. I have big boobs but they do pretty ones that are fuller cup as there is nothing worse than spilling out and having 4 boobs. There are loads of outlets on eBay so my tip is go and try them on in Debenhams to check sizes and styles then but some on eBay. Obviously they are brand new in packs. I have always worn those as we have the factory shop near my parents but to be honest they often are cheaper on eBay. They used to sell rigby and peller at the factory shop as well but not seen it for a while! I'm not a massive fan of matching pants as I don't really like the fabrics. My favourite pants are the packs of shorts they sell in Sainsbury's!
I have still it managed to loose any weight. Unfortunately I think I need to bite the bullet and start calorie counting again as at least it works for me:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Good morning lovely ladies.
SUgarbaby...sounds like you had a lovely evening out. Good for you. I so want to get fit enough for a nights dancing.....something to work towards.
I’ve got a Physio appt booked for Friday and I am aiming to pass by the gym to arrange that free appt with a personal trainer. The Physio has told me that breast stroke swimming will only aggravate my knee but tbh I don’t really get on well with front crawl so I might not bother with swimming after all. The gym does offer various classes such as yoga, Pilates and some dance so I’ll look into that too.
I also need to get my various vaccinations done for the Amazon trip. I think I’ll try and get those organised quickly and get them over and done with.
Clippy-girl and all you other kind ladies.. thank you,so,much for the underwear tips. I will take myself off to Debenhams this week and have a good look round. Given that I have to lose at least 2 stones I don’t think I will go too mad. I think I will start with two bras for now, and then rethink as I lose weight.
I am rather well endowed so for now I might have to think more about support and functionality rather that how pretty they are. I am ok for knickers because I stocked up before the holiday. They are just plain cotton but they fit nicely and give me a good line under my clothing so I’m happy enough for the moment. I am afraid I sometimes find lace panties rather scratchy so if I do invest then they would have to be very good ones and probably reserved purely for high days and holidays.
A lady I used to work with had previously used to make undies for Harrods. She assures me that whilst bras are obviously complicated making nice panties, slips and teddies etc is actually very easy. The idea of hand made silk undies does sound very appealing so perhaps I might have a think about it.
Well I have managed to lose that extra lb so,that’s me back to my previous pre holiday weight, just coming in at under 13stone. I am so pleased to have finally broken that 13stone barrier.
My ideal weight is probably between 10 and 10.5 stones but obviously that is going to take some time. I will be happy if I can lose 1 stone by Christmas so that’s my target.
Clippy girl and any others currently struggling to lose weight. Don’t despair and give up. We can do this. Whether it’s cutting carbs, counting calories or joining a slimming club and following their regime we need to find something that works for us.
For me I realise I need to be faithful to full paleo and this has to include restricting dairy. Probably bettter for my digestive health anyway. I am also going to cut out alcohol too. Apart from the odd social drink I am going to stop all wine consumption for now. Alcohol is just empty calories which I can’t afford at the moment.
And of course for me I do need to up the activity levels so a bit less couch potato and a bit more gym bunny and/or Dancing Queen.:rotfl:
Also Need to try and book a hair appt soon.
Ds2 is coming over soon so had better get cracking. Have a fab day.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I am feeling some pain today again, despite taking painkillers and I have had a painful right knee and foot over the last 2 days, but it does not discourage me from wanting to go out and enjoy myself
I am writing a new poem at the moment, which I will finish tomorrow. I need it ready for a Poetry Open Mic night that I will be going to on Friday.
Regarding my long journey with weight loss that I only started after getting my heart diagnosis, I have to remind myself that eating whatever I want, could quite literally have serious consequences for me. This is about more than vanity, but once I am weighing a lot less than my current 16 stones 8 pounds, then I will have not only vastly improved my body shape, but my health.
I will not have to buy any new clothes, shoes or boots, as I have lots of items that do not currently fit me, as I bought them when I was much slimmer (13 stones or slightly less) and as I was not happy to keep the weight gain on, I have had to give myself a good talking to and get on with the arduous task of getting rid of my excess weight.
I love dancing so much, that it helps me to get lots of exercise and is more enjoyable for me than doing ordinary forms of exercise.
Taking my measurements once a week also keeps me motivated, as when I get a week when I am disappointed with my weight loss, I will invariably be happy with a an inch or two of lost inches somewhere on my body.
I have enough will power now so that I am buying cakes, biscuits, chocolate and sweets for my son and daughter again, knowing that I will no longer be tempted to eat them. They are so happy :j0 -
Your persistence and determination is amazing sugarbaby. What an attitude!:T
I'm hoping it's also infectious as I, too, am determined to lose a few pounds. I've not got much to lose fortunately but it's frustrating that some of my clothes (skirts with waistbands and no stretch in particular) are uncomfortable. I have a short holiday booked for next month so I'd really like to be at the lower end of my weight range (much where you're aiming for LL) so that I can eat out and enjoy it.
I've also arranged to go and visit my brother next week along with my new baby niece ( 1 month old this week). It'll just be overnight so I won't be out of control of my meals too much.
This week I've been eating fairly low carb for a few days. Not cutting them out completely but trying to fill up my plate with vegetables. I've recently discovered butternut squash and it's yummy roasted as are carrots so that's a good potato substitute.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like prickly knickers!:D I have a favoured style that M&S frustratingly keep taking out of stock so every time they come back in I buy lots. Interesting what you said about ebay clippy. They have them on there but unfortunately only in odd colours at the moment but I generally stick mostly to black except for under certain clothes.
It's colder here today, probably around what the temperature should be for the time of year. I'm still not wearing tights. Dancing tonight and tomorrow so I've got to decide how long a skirt I'll need to keep my legs free but warm.:)0 -
LL/B] I have a knee problem and now swim breaststroke arms with butterfly legs to avoid aggravating my knee. I also walk lengths in our pool which is the same depth all along the floor -this is great exercise and really tones your legs up, but start slowly and work up to a distance as it works your muscles much more than you expect.0

Thanks for the walking tip. Yes I bet it is really good for toning legs.
Will have to google how to do butterfly legs. :rotfl:0
