DH traced the leak yesterday. The CH system will need to be drained and a piece of pipe replaced so a plumber is coming tomorrow morning. We have cold water only.:( DH and I have been talking about how our grandparents managed back in the day. We're so used to all mod cons. Fortunately the dishwasher and washing machine are cold feed but I've had to wash my hair with a bowl and jug! I haven't done that since I was a child.

So now I'm looking half decent with my hair blow dried I'll be joining in Fab Friday. I might be joining you with a throw and candles if it gets cold tonight too LL.:D

I really do need to get down to sorting my wardrobe out and putting some lighter clothes away. At the moment I'm still between seasons in my outfits so very much falling back on jeans and trousers (as I can't bring myself to go back into tights yet), cardigans over tops because I don't want heavy knitwear and a short quilted coat. How's everyone else managing?

We forget how lucky we are nowadays with central heating etc. - I am going to make myself sound old now but when I was young we didn't have any heating upstairs and we used to get ice on the inside of the bedroom windows in the winter  Also, we didn't have an toilet indoors - it is amazing how you can manage to go all night without needing the loo when you know you have to go out in the freezing cold :p

I put some of my lighter stuff away last weekend but, like you, I really struggle with the 'in-between' times. Layering is definitely the order of the day at the moment and again, like you I am refusing to wear tights yet, so it is jeans at the weekends and trousers for work. In some ways I will be glad when the weather finally turns into proper Autumn and I can get my soft opaque tights and 'just above the knee' thicker skirts out :)

My Autumn wardrobe is having a bit of an update - I have bought a couple of pieces from Kettlewell and also some ribbed polo-neck tops from M & S - not much else worth buying from them at them moment but I do find their polo-necks wear well and they have a good range of colours. I probably don't need too much else to see me through the winter other than a nice pear of black knee-length boots as my old ones are looking a bit 'worse-for-wear' now.

Glad the injection has helped to ease things LL.

Have a great Fab Friday everyone :)

    Afternoon lovely ladies,

Well it's currently 19 degrees here in East Anglia so despite the Autumn Equinox it looks like summer is having a last hurrah!
I was at the yard all morning and got hot so had a nice shower when I got home, pulled out a pair of linen trousers and a light 3/4 sleeve top from my overflow wardrobe in the dressing room as jeans would have been too warm. I had switched my clothes over and had put the winter ones in our bedroom but am not complaining :)
Nothing at all wrong with thermals LL I swear by them and use them most winters especially at the stables, my old horse couldn't be ridden for a while so had to graze him in hand, blooming cold with the wind whistling across the fens I can tell you!
My hair is at a real in between stage at the moment, it's not quite long enough at the sides to hang down although when my hairdresser does it with straighteners it looks ok, so most of the time now I wear it tucked behind my ears and do like it that way.
I do need to get some new yoga pants or similar for my Pilates class, my current ones have a bit of a flare and twice this week the instructor joked that she couldn't see the position of my feet, don't want to spend loads so might check out Mr Sparks or maybe TKMaxx might have something.
Right, think I will make the most of the sunshine and sit outside for a while, love to all and have a fab weekend x

    Good morning lovely ladies..

Laine glad you are enjoying your new horse. I am afraid I would be a fair weather rider. Ynsister keeps, horses and I agree it can be blimmin cold doing stable work in the winter. Not for me I'm afraid.

Well I am delighted say my steroid injection has been a resounding success. It targeted my damaged right knee if course but as th cortisone is now coursing through my blood stream my left knee also feels better and my fibro pain has really calmed down, I am al Kat pain free and I have not felt this good for a very long time.

What a shame the effects are only temporary.:rotfl:

However I have decided to use this window of being pain free to really try and get a grip improving my long term mobility and fitness. I shall be starting with some targeted exercise, and some general levels of activity, walking, swimming, yoga or Pilates, some resistance training to build up some much needed muscle and hopefully some dancing.

And of course make a serious attempt to finally shift some weight, the extra activity is key I think to Improving both fitness and to losing some more weight.

Right time for some fabbing and then I'm off out to Dunhelm and Aldi.

    Have a great weekend.

Ps Movie Night went well. We watched My Cousin Rachel because she didn't fancy WonderWoman.......I can watch that myself. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with one of the ladies from Jolly Dollies.

I am determined to get out more now and start having more fun.

The sun is just coming out.....wahoo. Hopefully be able to sit out in the garden later after I have done the shopping.

LL I have had a couple of steroid injections and am due for another early next month - i found the benefits to last quite a long time, in fact it is nearly 4 years since the last in my shoulder which is being done again, and about 2 years since the ones in my lower back & hip.

So pleased to hear that the steroid injection is doing its stuff LL.

The plumber has been and gone and the hot water/heating is now fixed! I spent yesterday evening wrapped in a fleecy throw. I may be a granny but that doesn't mean I want to look and feel like one!:rotfl:

DH and I are planning to go to see Victoria and Abdul at some point too. I did suggest it for last night (to get away from cold house) but DH still has a lingering cough and was afraid he'd start in the middle of the performance. I notice that there's a documentary on More4 tonight about the story (Victoria's Last Love) so I may watch that to get a perspective.

Football for me today so it'll be smart casual and fairly wrapped up to keep warm. It's a pleasant day here but sitting still (not hopeful of much to jump up and cheer about today:() can be chilly.

It's about time I took another trip to Dunelm LL. I went last year about this time when I was sourcing stuff for our bedroom. Now I need another wall mirror and a new table lamp (or possibly just a shade) for the hall. I moved the hall mirror to our bedroom while the decorating was going on. It's easy to move stuff around as we have picture rails. I've liked having the extra mirror in the bedroom so when it goes back to the hall I'd like to replace it. What are you looking out for on your trip?

I find Dunelm, a bit like TKMaxx, Wilko and The Range, can be fascinating places to browse. They have some really nice stuff hidden amongst heaps of absolute tat. I have some really nice plain white bone china for every day that comes from Wilko including my favourite big pasta bowls and loads of lampshades (7 in the sitting room alone) that come from The Range.

    Have a good day all.:)

maman you must be relieved your heating us fixed. It really is the little things that make the difference.

ll pleased your injection has been successful.

I had a productive Friday. I popped into town as I had a few things to do, which I haven't wanted to do with the children in tow. I picked up a few birthday treats:

Space NK - they give a free birthday gift and I got three decent sized samples, including a lipstick.

Body Shop - £5 birthday voucher, which I put towards a hemp foot cream.

IKEA - also a £5 voucher, which I put towards a wall rack for paperwork.

I also bought some Pjs for the winter. It was quite an impulsive purchase in that on Thursday night, the idea popped into my head. I also chose my winter coat, which I'm going to buy over the next few weeks. Over the last few years, my winter coats have lasted for two years, by which point, they've needed replacing. The coat I bought last year was quite disappointing in that it wasn't very warm and some stitching has come undone slightly. The coat is fine for Autumn, but I'll need something warmer.

I also love Dunelm Mills. My local store is only a couple of years old, so I haven't been shopping there long, but it's fast becoming my 'go to' shop. There doesn't seem to be many reasonably priced/decent quality home furnishing shops. Over the past year, I've bought quite a lot from Dunelm, including our duvet and curtains.

Chanie.....some great little treats there with your vouchers. Sounds like a nice productive trip.

Well it's glorious here - one if those great to be alive days. A perfect British autumn day.

Oh The joys of being almost pain free. Its been so long I'd forgotten what it felt like not to have to crawl out of bed and wait for stiffness to wear off. I was up with the Larks and have been out and about already. I managed my 5k steps yesterday without any ill effects. I know it's not enough, we are supposed to average 10k but it's a good start.

Popped to my sons to water his plants whilst he's on holiday, then called into wilkinsons and boots to get all my holidays bits and bobs. Then had a quick mooch round the chazzers. Bought some per una jeans £0.99p a decent sized canvas bag which I can use for the gym £3. And a fake pearl necklace which I can canabalise to make "gorgeous little things dahhhlings for the house". I am collecting them to dress cheap chandeliers and decorate curtain tie backs. Might even have enough For a couple of Christmas tree decorations.

Later I will be going to the cinema, not till tea time so I intend to sit in the garden in the sun and maybe go for a little walk across the park to get my step count up.

I have ordered a Pain Gone pen. I do have a tens machine which is quite good but it's a bit of a faff with the wires and pads. The pen is fully portable and is small enough to slip into a handbag. Worth a try.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Right I'm off out to enjoy the sun whilst I can. This time next week it could be all change.

    "WInter is coming". :rotfl:
  • Maman you asked what I'm looking for at dunhelm. Well yesterday I bought a blind for the dining room.

I'm looking for accessories.i need blinds for the kitchen, a couple of mirrors, maybe some nice new cushions although I might make them.

As you know I've bought DS2s house and kept all the furniture etc. It's all lovely but a tad masculine so I'm just changing a few things and adding more of a "woman's touch". :rotfl: My neighbour has commented that already she can see the changes, that the house feels a bit more feminine.

I think the likes of dunhelm, the range, wilkinson are all pretty good. There's a fair bit of tat to wade through but they do have some nice things among the dross.

I am struggling to find nice bedside lights at a price I want to pay. I'll keep looking. I used to,like BHS for lighting. Apparently Debenhams are pretty good at the moment so I'll have to have a look there.

Then after my holiday I'll take a trip up to Ikea. They are always worth a look. I usually like to go to IKEA in the run up to Christmas.

Thanks for reminding us floss. I did read that somewhere.:)

I'll probably be OK with just a new lampshade for the hall. As I have a fairly traditional house I'm happy with the existing lamp bases. Most are either plain ceramic or metal 'balls' (are we allowed to say that on here:D) or wooden or metal 'candlestick' design.

When do you go on your cruise LL?

It's a beautiful day here too. DD1 has been round as she wanted me to help with a bit of paperwork but didn't take as long as expected. I think I'll go out for a bit of a walk even if it's just to the local park.:)
