Chanie maybe hold your day "in hand to another venue/date...
I agree there's no reason for going to the shopping centre when you don't want to buy anything. But sometimes it's good to window shop to see what's around. It depends how you'd feel about not being able to buy. I often like to see what's current fashion and match it to what I have in my wardrobe already or what I might buy when I need something. I saw a lovely dress in Topshop this week but I really don't need a dress at the moment. If an occasion comes up then I could buy it.
I'd do a link but can't do it on my phone. What tablet did you buy?
Maybe you could take yourself to a gallery or museum or a historic house instead? I enjoyed the John Soane in Lincoln's Inn, the Courtauld or the Wallace collection ( where they have a great courtyard restaurant).0 -
Hello Ladies,
Belated birthday wishes Chanie. I hope you find a venue to have your 'me' day that brings you happiness.
I went to a pub with my favourite DJ last night instead of going to Karaoke. I preferred to spend the evening dancing my legs off.:D I had to do quite a lot of dancing sitting down as well, so that I could pace myself. I had such a great evening. I was chatted up by this Jamaican man, but I kept telling him I was already taken. The cheeky mare wanted to exchange mobile numbers even though he accepted the fact that there was already a man in my life.I do not want to get involved with another man.
The pubs I go to are mostly frequented by mature black people, so at least there will be lots of people from my own generation, a decade younger or a decade or more older. I go to pubs mostly on my own, so I feel more confident going to pubs where I fit right in with the other clientele.
I am glad that I feel remarkably pain free from being so active over the weekend. I only have the odd mild ache. I need to exercise regularly for the sake of my Heart and my weight, but I prefer to be dancing than any other type of exercise. As the weeks go by, I will be able to do more and more dancing.0 -
Happy belated Birthday Chanie x
Glad that you have been enjoying your dancing Sugar think you are bang on with the exercise thing, if you are doing what you love it doesn't feel like a chore, that's just how I feel about my horse riding0 -
Belated Happy Birthday, Chanie. Have a lovely "you" day.
What a lovely post SUgarbaby.............you sound very positivite, upbeat and happy. Must be all that dancing. :rotfl:
I am still in rather a lot of pain at the moment but I agree movement is the answer, will try and walk a bit today and do some yoga. Not quite sure if my knee is up to dancing yet but I am scheduled for my steroid injection on Thursday. Let's hope that puts a spring in my step.
Well I met up with some of the Jolly Dollies yesterday and they seem like a nice bunch, all determined not to dwell on the horrors of widowhood but to try and move forward and get to grips with life as solos.
So it was more about organising social functions and outings rather than a "bereavement support group" which is exactly what I wanted. I don't want counselling or to keep dwelling on the past. I will never forget him or cease to miss him but it's time to move forward. To get fully fit and to find a purpose to my life.
Anyway I have the responsibility for booking the first Sunday lunch outing in October and then the plan is to do something as a group once a month and try and grow the group. And then of course in between times meet up with any other ladies who live locally, which of course I have already done.
I have also taken the plunge and booked a last minute holiday, a cruise calling in at France, Northern Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar. A last minute crack at the sun before the winter sets in.
I have been feeling very low and despondent. I don't know why but the last few months have been quite difficult, really missing my husband and just feeling a bit in the doldrums. Not helped by the fact that this last week my sister has been up to her old tricks.
Hey ho. Hopefully a few days of sun and sea air will help lift my spirit is a bit.
Need to tackle some paperwork today. Fun.:rotfl:0 -
LL am jealous of your cruise calling points- I guess it will be Lisbon or Porto you will visit? Let us know which, I've visited both and can suggest some must-see sights2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thank you for all the birthday wishes.
ll pleased to see that your group is going well. Sorry that your sister is up to her old tricks, but don't forget, you have so much going for you.
sugar I know exactly the type of pubs you are talking about. My Dad used to have a regular, full of old West Indian regulars!!! I love hearing about your adventures.
I've decided to have my 'me' day nearer to Xmas and that gives me a couple of weeks to research something fun to do. I do like Museum's and galleries, but I don't know if I can be bothered to travel into Central London on my day off (have enough of that when I go to work!!!). In the meantime, I'm going to treat myself to a beauty treatment at a local training college.
For my birthday, I got an ipad mini. I mainly use it for browsing the Net, so its doesn't need to be high spec and I like its small size. I've just ordered a case for it from a posh brand and it was reduced from £75 to under £30. It actually works out cheaper than the Apple cases, which are £40+.0 -
Hello Ladies.
LL I hope the group works out really well for all of you ladies.
I went to Karaoke last night and had a really enjoyable evening.I sang Elvis Presley's Return to Sender and It's Now or Never, Bill wither's Lean On Me, Fever by Peggy Lee and Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan. I only did a few dances, as I was feeling really tired. In fact I ended up leaving at 11pm rather than waiting until midnight when it usually finishes, as my friend who gives me a lift home was happy to leave early. I only bought myself one bottle of water for £1. So it was a very cost effective night out as well.:D
