  • What a lovely poetry reading group sugarbaby, and what a great idea to send you home with yummy food! It's so nice to hear your enthusiasm for things like creative writing and singing, a big 'well done' to you for going along :T

I hope you are feeling less achey now LL and that you enjoyed the street market; did you read that the paleo/ caveman diet has been endorsed as one of the healthiest options?! It makes sense I guess, you are cutting out all processed foods to give yourself easier foods to digest. The only thing is that it's tricky to follow in today's society with a big reliance on things like bread, pasta etc!

Congratulations on your new horse Lainey, have you arranged a date for collecting her yet?

Well, the pukey babies seem to finally be better, but it has left me very tired! OH was out last night with a friend he hasn't seen for a couple of months, which I didn't mind, but I did mind him rolling in at 3am and then being grumpy with a hangover all day….. he did look after the boys for a couple of hours so I could pop over and take a friend her birthday present, but then expected an hour off for doing it!! I still don't think he has a clue about how much work they actually are on a day to day basis because he simply never looks after them for that long.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words too and everything has been taken on board….. I do agree LL that some assertiveness training would be useful, my confidence has taken such a knock after 'only' looking after children. (Apparently having twins will get easier when they get to 3 or so, I do hope so!!). Maybe once they are in preschool things will get easier, just that regular time without them will be a help.

Oh and indie I did think what you said was true, that my friend's offer of an evening visit was more of a 'token gesture' than anything else - I replied politely that unfortunately I couldn't do that time but I hoped she enjoyed her lunch (the one she'd double booked herself for!) - I think she's taken the hint as she replied with an apology and said she would still love to meet up!! Which is fair enough, but I'm loath to arrange anything now in case it's another waste of my time…..

Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend. It's too hot for me but at least it means I can get the washing dry!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Ruby i think maybe you should find yourself bedridden with the most horrendous migraine one day, the sort where you can't bear any light or noise or even anyone sitting on the bed...the first (and sometimes only) migraine is always the worst ;)

    Hello Ladies,

I actually wrote 3 poems yesterday, so my new folder of creative writing has got off to a really good start. :D

I went to Karaoke last night and had another good evening, :). I made more of an effort and wore brown/bronze eye shadow, brown lipstick, clear nail polish and black mascara. I layered my perfume with the matching body powder and body lotion. I wore my black velour M & S Autograph skirt and my black M & S Autograph vest top with black beads around the front of the neckline with a pair of black leather Van Dal sling back shoes. I wore a solid gold chain with my QVC large diamonique and solid gold pendant, with large solid gold hoops, a solid gold bracelet, a QVC diamonique and solid gold solitaire ring and my gold plated watch.

Wayne walked in and he was so surprised to see me that he literally did a double take. I was surprised to see Wayne, as he was supposed to be going to America to visit his Mum, his brother and his sister in law. I made it clear that I am happy to talk to Wayne and even dance with him when I see him in that pub, but there is no way it is going any further than that after all that happened in the recent past.

Wayne missed me a lot, but I am sure he has not been on his own for 3 and a half month's no matter what he was saying to me last night. I cannot say that I missed Wayne, I was too busy getting on with my own life without him. I have moved on from Wayne and I intend to keep on moving forward with my single life. :)

My latest bout of illness has again reinforced in my mind, the importance of doing the things that make you as an individual really happy. :D

Have a Happy Bank Holiday Ladies

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My Aunty S used to recommend exactly that as a way of bringing an errant husband to heel. :rotfl:

I did use it once ......although to be fair it was true, I did have the headache from hell at the time, so it was pretty genuine.

I just couldn't take it any more so I went to bed and left my husband to it. I actually felt sick and dizzy with tiredness. Slept for a couple of hours and then felt tons better.

Yes Ruby.....sometimes you do have to just jut out your pretty little chin, dig in those heels and say, quietly but firmly....... "No".

You can soften it by saying "sorry darling but you are just going to have to take over for a while because I really do not feel very well". Then don't listen to any complaints and just take yourself off to bed. No arguments. And rest. Even if you don't sleep a lie down in a quiet space will do you the power of good.

Warning......you may come downstairs to a tip but hey that's the price you pay. :rotfl:

SUgarbaby.....you are so right - making ourselves happy should take priority. It's not selfish. We can only be of use to others if we are in tip top form ourselves.

Yes I did push myself - way out of my own personal zone to care for my husband but it was my choice, done from love. But by golly I paid the price. Would I do it again...yes, but I would do it differently and I would make sure I received more help and support. His sister could have chipped in now and again but foolishly I never asked her to and she never volunteered. I wouldn't let that happen again. I was too proud. I took too much onto my shoulders. One person can only do so much and I simply pushed myself too far, too hard, for too long.

Going back to Ruby........for you there is light at the end of the tunnel. Soon they will be at pre school and you will get the breaks you desperately need. And yes two will be easier than one then.

Although mine weren't twins, there was just 22 months between them and by the time they were 2 and 4 they were the best of pals and I had a lot more free time than people I knew who only had one child. An only child needs more attention, playtime etc from a parent than when they have a sibling.

In fact I can distinctly remember the first my two "played together". The little one was in his bouncy cradle - so around 4 months whilst big brother aged just over 2 was twirling around in front of him playing some game or other. I could hear him saying "watch me baby" and the little one was giggling away. So even at that age they did keep each other amused for short periods.

Hang in there - it gets better and it will be such fun once they are past the teething, nappies, and regular puking. Who knows your husband might just decide his kids are fun and start getting involved. And if he doesn't, well stuff him, you can have all the fun. :rotfl:

Must dash I'm sitting here with a face mask on.....multi tasking better go and wash it off before my skin comes off with it..

See you later. Have a fabulous bank holiday Monday.

Lainey.......how fab about the new horse. Piccies please. :rotfl:

    Hi fabbers,

I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend. We've had a chilled one as both me and OH are back at work tomorrow, which is our first day back since our holiday. We did pop out today to buy DDs birthday presents. Once we got to the shops, OH distracted the children while I bought the presents. DD didn't suspect anything!!!

    Hello ladies,

We had a lovely, hot and sunny BH weekend so the summer dresses are back out for the moment, it was so warm in bed last night that we slept under a sheet only.
Thank you for your lovely comments re the heavenly Lady Lulu, unfortunately my silly tablet won't let me post pictures but if anyone is interested in taking a look there are a couple of pictures of her over on the Old Style section, the daily thread for Saturday 26th? It looks like we will be picking her up on a week Friday, seriously can't wait now. As Sugarbaby wisely points out it's important to look after ourselves as an individual and indulge in activities to keep us happy, whether that's writing poetry, climbing a mountain or cantering through the countryside :)

    Good morning lovely ladies

I have decided to let you know now, rather than later, so that you can make any necessary adjustments to your diaries and schedules.

I very much regret that I have to advise that I will now not be able to visit London in October.

Of course this doesn't mean that you ladies cannot go ahead without me and meet up as planned but sadly I will be unable to attend.

I dont know what's going on but I am really feeling quite unwell at the moment, not just with my knee and the usual IBS and fibro but I have starting having chest pains, dizzy spells, panic attacks and migraines again. I have no idea why because I am not aware of feeling stressed or under undue pressure but suffice it to say I am feeling quite grim.

I am very sorry about this but I would prefer to cancel now rather than later and leave you all in the lurch as it were.

I am going to try and see my GP and see if we can find out whether or not the chest pains are really only "just stress" or whether there is something a little more sinister going on.

I have had to cancel several engagements this last week or so. So I think it's best if I just clear my diary for now, get some rest and try and find out what's going on.

Hope you are all well. Raining here.

    Hello Ladies :hello:

Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly LL - hope you can get an appointment with your GP fairly quickly and manage to sort out what is causing the problem.

Really sorry to hear that you're so poorly LL. Obviously it's the best thing to clear your diary and recuperate. It'll be good to know what the GP recommends but I'm sure plenty of rest will be high on the list!

Personally I'd rather put off our meet up until you feel better as I can get up to London easily for a day but if anyone's made special arrangements that can't be postponed then I'm easy.

Weather's taken a downturn here too after a brilliant weekend. We're off to Stratford upon Avon for a few days next week so I might have to think hard about wardrobe options.:)

Well as I suspected, my heart is fine......so it's obviously "stress or trauma related".

Chest pain is a feature of Fibromyalgia and of course whiplash injuries only add to the fun. So I guess I just need to work hard to get it all under control again. As the Fibro websites say, the pain can vary from mild to excruciating similar to a heart attack. :rotfl: Not quite heart attack level pain today but bad enough.

I had a massage and mentioned it to her and she paid particular attention tuning to my upper back and the area between my shoulder blades, collar and neck. Chest pain is still there but it's definitely a bit easier after the massage. I actually fell asleep today during my massage - Lord knows how because she is not exactly gentle but I suppose it's when the muscles relax. She did say they were very badly knotted today, especially those In my upper back.

Going to have a nap now, curl up with the cat, a sofa throw, my wheat pack and watch something mindless on the telly.

Maman......Stratford should be fun, but yes I think you might need some layers - it can be cold by the river. It could still be nice though, it's still only September, you just never know. :rotfl:
