Love the fake bag, why not. I bought "Gucci" bags when I went to China. Last week I bought a fab Vintage Kelly bag from eBay for peanuts.
In a similar vein I bought my rail tickets for London today. An extra £6 got me 1st class. The joke is when you travel first class they throw in free drinks and snacks and you get the use of the 1st class waiting lounges which also offer free refreshments.
I just ♥️ Bargains....
Ps I have also booked a few days in August staying with a friend who lives in Coventry. The one I am going to the Amazon with. And then I got a call from my friend in Devon.....another invite.
How lucky am I.
Although I won't be going to Barcelona in September. No worries. Another time.0 -
Sugar baby.....so glad you are up and dancing again. :j
Ps. Watched Churchill last night. It was ok but only because Brian Cox is such a good actor but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at the cinema.0 -
I love bags, too. Mr C knows I love bags and said he'd get me one as a gift and I was like 'Nooooo. Never. Ever. Ever buy me a bag unless I've chosen it' :rotfl:
I don't get to use my nice bags very often as they'd get trashed on my commute - sometimes my train is so busy my arms and bags get wedged between other passengers and I'm 'stuck' until the next stop.
I bought a few bargains today from my favourite store, Uniqlo.
A grey dress for work - reduced to £5. I desperately need a new work wardrobe and I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible.
A playsuit - my first one. I suit more structured clothing and this is the first one that has worked for me. It was £15
Joggers - I'm rather late to the sports luxe trend, but I found a pair reduced to £5 which I thought could work. If not, they'll be good lounge wear.0 -
I tried a denim sleeveless jumpsuit on yesterday, it looked good on the hanger in Debenhams but when wearing it I looked like a reject from a Dexy's Midnight Runners video / denim clad Andy Pandy...it's going back today!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I hate it when something looks good on the hanger, but then rubbish when you try it on. I'm only 5ft and have a high waist so most of the jump/playsuits I've tried on don't sit right.
Your comment about Dexy's Midnight Runners made my giggle - I was really young when 'Come on Eileen' came out so I can just about remember it.
I'm off tomorrow - it will be my first Friday off with the children. The weather is pants, so I'm not sure what we are going to do. I'd quite like a lazy one, but as they 've been indoor for most of the week, they deserve a bit of fun.0 -

Love it! I'm old enough to remember both Eileen AND Andy Pandy!
I've got a couple of jumpsuits: one a lightweight holiday one and the other a tailored black one for evenings. I like them both.
I have a long body so I have to try lots on or they can be. .. uncomfortable!0 -
Hi all,
I don't know if some of you remember me, I was on here a rather long time ago but am back as desperately in need of some fabbing. Has not been the best year - job issues and health problems to give the short version - so basically self-care, both physical and mental has rather gone out the window! Need a plan and prob a good kicking so hope I can rejoin this group
Nice to see some familar faces and hi to everyone else x0 -
The trouble is I'm worrying that it's the weight that's helping to make my back ache. It's not that the bag's particularly heavy in itself but maybe I carry too much 'stuff'. Does anyone manage with a small bag? Change your bag daily? Anyone use a rucksack? Any views?
I change bags quite often. On nights when I am going dancing I need to take my dance shoes with me so I have an Orla Kiely backpacks - it's those oilcloth printed ones. The bag is quite light. I also use another slightly smaller one if I am going out for a long period at the weekends e.g. if I am doing one of my guided walks and so will be standing still quite a bit (you have to stand and listen while they are telling you about what you are seeing) or going to a gallery.
I also use cross body handbags - especially like them when shopping as they don't slide off the shoulder in the same way as a shoulder bag can do.
I made a point of using a much smaller purse - to force me to throw out receipts more often and not carry so many of those reward cards around that I used to have. I keep some separately which I can take out if I am going somewhere I need them - like if I need new hair products and am going to Aveda to buy. I reckon my purse is now half the size of the one I used to carry.
For work I carry a smaller bag than I used to - basically to force me not to carry so much stuff. My Kindle definitely saves me some weight - it's much lighter than carrying round a book with me.
Switching bags has it's downsides though - on Wednesday I got to work and realised I left my pass in my backpack. I think to switch bags regularly Marie Kondo might have a point about taking everything out at night - not so you can let the bag rest which I think was her rationale, but so you can check you have all you need before you set off the next day.
Re dates for meeting up, either day you suggested will need me to take the day off work, but I do have some leave left so that would be ok with me - Friday nicer as I can then have a long weekend off but not essential.
Having another busy few weeks. Was out with friends last week and made the mistake when slightly inebriated on the bus home of reopening my dating profile and am now struggling to work out when in between all my plans I am going to fit in all the dates I am being asked on... Not a bad problem to have I suppose. First one last night, nice chap, good company, but no spark at all for me. He was a year younger than me but looked a lot older and I suspect that was the issue for me.
Tonight I am off to Somerset House for an exhibition on perfume, then tomorrow I have a hair appointment - mine has faded a lot in the sun, although that looks quite natural so I might stay a little lighter for the rest of the summer and then darken up when I next go in September, which will be post holiday - probably go on my birthday so I am ready for my birthday night out. Sunday I am going for a day out at the seaside with one of my female friends, then we have birthday drinks back where we live in the evening for a friend who has come back for the weekend from Devon where she moved earlier in the year. Monday I have another of my interesting talks - I think this one is "How the mind heals the body". Tuesday I am going to Globe to see "Much ado about nothing" then Wednesday will be Ceroc and I have a quick coffee date first with a guy I talked into trying Ceroc - he had been salsa-ing for months and not got to the point of social dancing / freestyle, at Ceroc you aim to do that from first class.
Writing all that down I can see why I am feeling a bit overwhelmed... lots of fun stuff but perhaps a little too much! At least I am going to be home Saturday night. Also will get a bit of chill out time on Monday.
Anyway better get moving. Today is dress down day at work so I can wear my skinny jeans and a nice top. I wore new dance shoes on Tuesday and they rubbed my big toes to the point I've taken the skin off them, so I will wear one of my nice pairs of Geox trainers to cover up the plasters! Doesn't look quite warm enough to really need sandals anyway.
Have a fab Friday all, will try to post more fully over the weekend, I've read your posts but not responded to most of them! xx0 -
indie I've said it before, but I'd recommend trying handbag insert if you like to change your bags a lot, as you can transfer everything at once. Mine was £2.50 from Primark, but you can get them Amazon etc.
pod welcome back. Sorry you've had a difficult time recently. Hopefully a bit of fabbing will get you back on track.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Welcome Podperson, I hope you will gain inspiration from other people's posts to get back to fabbing
Indie, enjoy any dates and keep enjoying your full social calendar. There are so many lonely people out there who would love to have your large circle of friends and have the confidence to go out on dates
I had a free ticket to see Queen Anne at the Theatre Royal Haymarket yesterday. I would highly recommend this play.It is fascinating and the 2 female leads Emma Cunniffe and Romola Garai were both mesmerising. The other actors both male and female are also outstanding talent and were perfect foils for the 2 female leads. This play has prompted me to want to know more about Queen Anne and Sarah , Duchess of Marlborough and their long standing friendship and whether it actually led to a more intimate relationship, as the play suggests. Knowing how writer's can take a bit of poetic licence with history I want to find out the facts and why Sarah, The Duchess of Marlborough ultimately betrayed Queen Anne.
It is my grandson's 18th Birthday on Sunday. I have got all of his presents from me wrapped and tagged and his card written out.We are all looking forward to celebrating his birthday with him and watching his face as he opens his presents.
