Hello Ladies,
Welcome Tigger and Aaleigha
I went to Pizza Express in Herne Hill with my grandson, my 2 daughters and my younger son. We had a lovely bottle of Prosecco with our meal to celebrate my grandson's 18th birthday. We all had a really good time together and the food and atmosphere was great. My eldest daughter can not walk unaided so she was in a wheelchair and she was not patronised at all, she was treated with respect and spoken to in the same friendly, courteous manner that the rest of us were spoken to and I was so relieved for my daughter's sake. Far too often staff in restaurants do not know how to treat her just because she is disabled.
It was a very MSE celebration meal, because I used £120 of Tesco Clubcard Boost Pizza Express codes to pay for the food. I had Pizza Express gift cards to pay for the drinks which I bought earlier in the year at a 20% discount from Tesco. I only paid the £10 tip in cash so that the waitress could keep the money for herself.
My grandson had a great time opening his presents and he was really pleased with what he got and the money he was given. I sent him home in a mini cab which I paid for, as he had far too many bags of presents to carry home on the underground.
We are going for another celebration meal on Tuesday to Rodizio Rico in the 02 and to the cinema later in the week. After all your 18th birthday is rather special.0 -
indie your perfume class seems really interesting. I'd love to find my signature scent, something that smells amazing on me.
How annoying about your friend. Has she always been this way, or do you think something else is going on?
We had a rather disappointing day. We planned a family trip out, but had to turn back due to all the roads being closed for the Ride London cycling event. Typical. Today has been the nicest day for a while now.
When we got home, I popped out and picked some blackberries, which I've frozen. I'm going to try making some blackberry jam and also some vodka over the next few weeks.
I got caught up with the Ride London stuff yesterday too, had a longer than usual wait for the bus and then twigged despite no information at the bus stop, it wasn't coming, so had to get a tube to the other side of the river.
Re the friend, I have only known her for a year and a half so it's hard to say if this is typical behaviour or not. I know she does suffer with really bad headaches and I also know she is working really hard to get promoted at work, so that might explain this time - too stressed to sleep properly. The previous time I think she was being a bit naive and thought you could get cheap travel on the train to Edinburgh during the festival - I know from experience that you can hardly get a quid or so off for advance booking so was expecting it. The tendency to not be assertive and just say "I've made a mistake, I can't afford this" or "sorry I feel sick, I can't come" is a bit irritating, but I guess we have our faults. We've had other good times together so it's not like she is flaky all the time. Will have to see how our week away together goes.
The perfume class was great, but not a route to finding my signature scent - just opens my eyes (or nose) to all the options out there. I think it would be fair to say I have an extensive perfume wardrobe.... hate to think quite how many different perfumes I own! I don't even stick to the same genre or brand. More niche than big brands, but then I do have some Guerlains a couple of Kenzos and a Chanel although I suspect none of the ones I own are their most popular.I suspect more of mine are by brands that you wouldn't have heard of like 4160 Tuesdays which is run by the woman who ran the perfume workshop I went to. I rather like the idea of wearing something that my friends don't wear.0 -
Sorry to hear some of you are overwhelmed at the moment
Reminds me so much of me
As for the dance lessons they sound fun, my daughter did ballroom and Latin as a child, even starting a society at uni
I wish there was somewhere local, but not heard of any, will see if anyone at slimming world knows, maybe get someone to go with me
Reading from the beginning of this year now up to page 27, I have a lot to thank you for (and perhaps a bit to moan about
I have had to spend money (can I blame you for having to buy a new to me car, that makes me feel good, no oh well)
BUT I now have spent money on hand bag lippy and cc cream all kept by front door with perfume to be used then popped into bag. All my existing make up was more for evenings and events (or to hide behind)
But thank you ,I do feel really special when I go out. Also hair in messy bun daily and love it
To day I am decluttering with hair do face on and perfume, hubby will think he has come home to a 1950's housewife, now where is that frilly pinny
Thank you

Good morning lovely ladies...,
Sorry I have been awol......problems with t'internet.
Re Meet Up. Looks like Friday 13th it is then  it'll be fine,......;)
So I'm guessing 1pm for lunch......now we need to fix a venue, as it's been years since I went to London (other than passing through) I am rather out of touch so for those who are in the know can we have some recommendations please for a choice of restaurant. Also do you think we might need to book, especially if there are a gaggle of us.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all and putting faces to names.
Bedroom nearly finished, just the fun stuff now, accessories etc.
Aaleigha. ...loving the 50s housewife vibe. I have visions of a Doris Day movie!!
After my house fabbing exertions I am a mass of aches and pains. Will I never learn......I have booked a full body massage for tomorrow so hopefully that will sort me out.
In the meantime having lots of Epsom salt baths. They help a bit.:rotfl:
Happy Fabbing.......0 -
I wondered where you'd got to LL. Good to see you posting.:)
Sorry to have put you to such expense aaleigha.;) Thinking back, as a group we seem to range between buying quality items and the odd cheapo thing which works well. Then there's somewhere in between like sugarbaby who has good clothes/bags etc from ebay, vouchers for eating out and squirrels out free excursions. Personally I have some expensive brands in the way of skincare and make up but mix and match that with cheap stuff too. Probably my favourite new product this year is the eyebrow set from Rimmel. I love it!
Those Oasis tops are really striking indie. I had a look at their website and fancied a floral jacket but not available locally.:(
It's a grim day here, absolutely pouring with rain. I do hope summer hasn't gone forever.:(
Today I'm going to make myself do some house fabbing. Way back when we decorated our bedroom I cut out two cushion covers with piping. One I finished at the time and the other is still sitting in the dining room in pieces waiting! It'll be an achievement if I can finish it. Glad to hear you've only got the nice bits left to do on your bedroom LL.
I've got a couple of Groupons for massages/facials lined up. I need a pedicure too. Perhaps I'll fit that in tomorrow.:)
Love to all.:)0 -
Would everyone mind if we do lunch a bit earlier at 12-12:30pm ish, as I will have to get back to pick up the children from school so will need to leave at 1:30-2pm.
I would going to suggest lunch at somewhere like Nando, Pizza Express. What does everyone think about that?0 -

Seems to me line the friendship is getting to be a little hard work
Perhaps you can doeskin to her about it. I recently had to drop a few relationships that ended up turning quite toxic, but now it's so much easier. Try to talk to her

Oh, perhaps I am just easy going but I wouldn't generally start having a conversation with someone about their behaviour after only messing me around a bit twice. Maybe it's the pace of London life, but a lot of people are a bit flaky at times - most of my friends have cancelled on me from time to time though never let me down badly like letting me book tickets and not paying for them if they can't come.
I am quite organised usually but even I've managed to double book myself twice in the last couple of months - problem of managing multiple calendars (work / home / facebook events). I guess at least when I do I totally admit it's my mistake and don't try to make anyone else responsible for my choice on how to resolve which is what had irritated me a bit. But I am sure I have other irritating faults!
Sorry you ended up getting a soaking after you'd taken all that effort with your appearance... life does have a nasty habit of getting in the way of our best laid plans at times.
On that subject, I have had to stay home from work today as had to go see my GP to get some antibiotics as I have cellulitis from an infected insect bite. I think I must have been bitten in the park on Monday, my trainer got bit too, though I didn't notice myself being bitten at the time. First I knew about it was feeling pain in my leg yesterday afternoon and spotting the tell tale signs of inflammation when investigating - it hurts to walk on it! Doctor said no exercise till the infection is under control so no dancing tonight and hence as I can work from home, no point going to work and wasting time commuting. So have had to message my coffee date to say I won't be coming.
Unfortunately though I had messaged him suggesting trading numbers in case of issues on the day, he hadn't responded, though I had given him my number. So I've had to message via the app, and it looks like he hasn't been on line to pick it up.... Oh well, not a lot I can do about it - his choice not to give me his number and at least I think he works in town and was planning to go to Ceroc anyway so he shouldn't be going miles out of his way to then not meet me. All the same... bet he thinks I am flaky now! Still, I had reservations about meeting up as he has young twin girls - not living with him, but nonetheless have never dated anyone with children and never wanted my own, so there would be some big hurdles to get past. Am not sure I want a boyfriend enough to deal with that level of hurdle.
Theatre last night was good fun, not sure I would have thought of setting Much Ado About Nothing in the early 1900s in Mexico, but the actors playing Beatrice and Benedict were good enough that it was still enjoyable.
Re meeting up, not averse to finding a chain restaurant (appreciate they often offer discounts etc.) but I don't think Nandos routinely take bookings and Pizza Express is going to be challenging for me as almost everything has cheese on it. If we were going to go for a chain, my suggestions would be Prezzo, Cote Brasserie or Strada. Can often get offers on Prezzo / Strada via their websites and Cote has a short menu for lunch at a cheaper price (it has a few choices on it) or you can go for the pricier a la carte menu. There's branches of all those within a few minutes walk of Trafalgar Square.0 -
Hi, my choices would be Cote or Prezzo, both will take bookings so that should be ok with a gang of us! Think I will come down the night before & stay with DS & DiL till the Saturday so I can see them and also visit an exhibition.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Evening Ladies :hello:
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the 'meet up' as I can only do a weekend - no spare annual leave left to take as my work are very mean with the entitlement - I only get 20 days plus bank holidays and that doesn't go very far for a whole yearit is a shame as I would have loved to have put faces to the names but maybe another time.
Been keeping up with most of my regular fabbing but need to have a good sort out of my wardrobe - I don't think it is worth buying much more for Summer now so I think I will have a good clear out and invest in some new quality pieces for Autumn/Winter.
Indie that infected insect bite sounds nasty - hope it heals up soon.
I have my bi-monthly facial booked for next week and am looking forward to that
Take care all x0
