Only the minimum term expires, not your contract, until you give the thirty days' notice.Evolution, not revolution0

You need to give 30 days notice.
You don't need the PAC code when giving the notice, but will need to request it while the SIM is valid. You can also leave the number on the same SIM as PAYG if this takes a little longer.💙💛 💔0 -
I thought i was told that they would chqrge 30 days from the activation of the PAC. Not 30 days from notice to cancel and then use PAC during that period.
It is this bit i am unclear about from their T&C
if you're within the last 30 days of your minimum term or outside of it, you'll need to pay a notice period charge. This is calculated based on 30 days' line rental from the date you contacted us to cancel your contract
if you've asked for a PAC code, this charge will be calculated from the date your number is transferred, not the date you receive your PAC code.if you're within the last 30 days of your minimum term or outside of it, you'll need to pay a notice period charge. When I moved from Vodafone to what was then Orange, I gave the notice, sorted a new phone out and got the PAC once I'd sorted the new phone. This was timed so that everything came together in the last week of the contract, which was definitely about 3 weeks in.
EE's conditions I believe are very similar, although I'm on a business plan (and reimburse the company for half the bill every month so don't have a personal mobile) so don't have the Ts and Cs to check it.
It may be worth checking the Consumer Rights Act if what you think is the case actually is, as I'm sure you only need to give the 30 days notice, not 30 days from switching. Common sense dictates to leave a week or two so that if anything goes wrong it can be sorted, and remember to ask EE to transfer the SIM onto a PAYG plan just incase it's still not sorted out.💙💛 💔0 -
They don't actually terminate the contract until you use the code so it makes sense to do it this way.0

You can cancel which will give them 30 days notice, if done on your billing date then there will be no further charges bar any additional charges incurred in the last 30 days. Of course if you want to keep your number you request a PAC at the same time.
If you use the PAC before the end of the 30 day notice period then the same applies as above.
If you request a PAC only, without a cancellation request, then the 30 days will start from when your number transfers over. If you don't use the PAC then the monthly rolling contract will continue as normal.0 -

I may be incorrect but I thought they where separate, I always thought you just got your PAC code used it and it terminated the old one.
As a general rule you just pay 1 more bill after you use the PAC code rather than after the request of the PAC code.
As far as I'm aware getting a PAC code and cancellation request are the same as no matter what if you don't use the PAC code the account will keep rolling over.0 -
I'm still not getting it.
As I understand it if I give notice on 1st February and ask for a PAC , even if I wait 25 days to use the PAC I still pay for a further 30 days which means I end up paying on the old account and new account.
\that does seem to be what EE have told me.0 -

Either you were misinformed or you misunderstood EE, if you give notice they can't arbitrarily add on another 30 days notice just because you want to keep your number.0
