    Hi everyone
Make do: brunch of toast, cottage cheese and cupasoup (and a naughty bag of hula hoops) as it was after 1pm and I wasn't organised
Mend: Rehab exercise upped by one again
Minimise: home admin almost finished and detrius shredded and binned

    Hi everyone

Did the poster with the freezer-burnt scones find a use for them? The only thing that sprang to my mind was using the scones instead of sponge fingers in a trifle.

It's been a busy few days. Here's my summary:

Make Do. We had some parsnips mouldering in the fridge, purchased over Christmas. Since they weren't mouldy, I made Parsnip and Lemon Soup with them for lunch on the weekend.

The other make do that I did on the weekend was to make Nigella Lawson's Courgette Cake, utilising some frozen, shredded courgette that was lurking in the back of the freezer.

Mend. No mending done but I have a small pile that needs attacking. I have decided that Mondays are for mending but we'll see if I stick to it. The first item on the list is my heavy winter coat - it needs several buttons sown back on and two tears in the lining repaired. I haven't worn it this year because the weather has been so mild.

Minimise This is a hard category for me. Beyond attempting to knit only from my stash in 2017, I can't think of anything. (I have enough yarn for 20-odd years of knitting.) I've started a jumper in some yarn purchased from Lidl in November 2013. That should take care of 6 balls. The pattern is out of a book I've owned for nearly 10 years.

Well done for all the mending and fixing done that is always very satisfying

Minimised a big bag of frozen blackberries yesterday, cooked with apple it was enough for a pie for us last night and dd2 took the rest home to make her family a pie. She'd left lots of stuff here at the weekend including a large wet bag full of DGS wet nappies and clothes from a day here so they have all been returned to her now they've been washed.
Caught up with my mending over the weekend but a t shirt came through the ironing yesterday with a badly split arm seam so that needs repairing apparently its vintage green day from a concert 10 years ago so would be sacrilege to use as a dust. (Glad I was informed of that it very nearly made it to the rag bag)
Dh can have last nights left over veg lasagne for lunch and I'll make something for the freezer for tea.
    Right better get on

And as it's Wednesday you can minimise your spend because B&Q give oldies 10% off on Wednesday if you join their diamond club
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Hoping to exchange contracts this week. Phone call from Estate Agent to say that the buyer at the bottom of the chain has pulled out!
Not sure what to do as I have spent over £ 1000.00 0n searches and survey etc but the people I am buying from will have to re market their home PDQ if I am unable to proceed. Wondering whether I might stay put for a couple of years as not coping too well with the stress on top of losing my husband last year. At least it has made me do a long overdue declutter.
  • Thanks maryb will give that a try,i'm on a roll now and looking for other bits to fix :):):)

    Hello peeps,
This week so far..Have mended OH's gardening gloves. They are that thick leather looking stuff but had ripped all down the side of the thumb.
It wasn't a pretty mend as I only had thick white cotton and they are red but I managed to colour it in with a red permanent marker after the deed and it is much better.
This afternoon I chopped off my hair and so minimised that .. I always tell myself I will do it religiously every 6 weeks but that never happens and I get to the point where I am so sick of it that I maybe get a bit reckless . Anyway, its done for another while. Of course now, the weather is windy and rainy and so I have my hood up to keep my neck warm.
Make do was chicken soup made from mostly chicken skin and veg. Its only for me as the blokies are both at work and prefer to sort themselves . I blitzed it in the blender and added some cooked barley and it was quite yummy with 2 slices of bread to help bulk it out a bit.

Oh Polly - what a disappointment. Fingers crossed something ppositive happens one way or the other for you.
Not done any MMMING - DGD's birthday on Monday so went out for a meal with her, son & DiL and DGD's boyfriend. Did manage to minimise the washing by 3 loads! Yesterday took DS1 to hospital for a minor procedure and trolled round the local shops until it was to e to collect him. He stayed with us overnight & I took him home this morning. It's grey, co!D and windy so sat on my Arris doing B all!!

Oh, Poppy! So sorry to hear it. Fingers crossed that someone else rushes in to take the place of the bottom of the chain.

My MMM activity today consisted entirely of eating some leftover curry (pilchard madras) instead of cooking tonight. I just couldn't face it when I got in and the curry was still sitting in boxes in the fridge. It's from Monday night and contained the last of a batch of tomato sauce, made from last summer's home grown tomatoes.
