He thinks he's seen a better vehicle in another town. Without seeing it it's hard to tell, but from what he's said ( amazing how good communication can be when a vehicle is involved) it's seems to me to be £100 cheaper for an extra 12k on the clock which pushes the mileage to 120k. Not sure what mileage one gets to, when more and more needs renewing/replacing but I'd have thought a lower mileage would be preferable.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Spending has been bad this week...I find that the less time ( and consequently energy) that I have, the more the budget goes awry as I have less time to cook from scratch. E.g. If I'm getting back into the house by 7 some nights, it takes me an hour to get a meal on the table unless it's pasta based. I was late on Tues and Wed and ended up in Mr T's in a complete fog trying to think what would be quick to cook, which is crazy. Batch cooking would be an answer although my idea of a family sized meal is another person's batch cooking exercise!! Definitely an area for improvement .paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Yes, that happens to me. It's one of the plus thoughts I have about losing my job, time at home to make cheaper meals. Last night, it was just me and DD and she fancied hotdogs, so went to Sainsbury's cos only place I know that does the veggie versions for her, ordinary ones for me and nearly £20 later.
and I still need to get the main shop!
I'd have thought the same as you, £100 less wasn't worth an extra £12K on the clock, but I don't know enough about cars. Thankfully for us this is a problem for the future because though our DS passed his test this week 1st time :T he couldn't afford to run one at Uni anyway.0 -
Well done to your DS Spendless:T great news and a skill that will be an asset when job hunting.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hurray, it's Friday! So so glad to have got through the last fortnight with all the extra bits and pieces to do and meetings to attend. I worked a full week this week, so am very conscious that I need to squash more into this weekend as I've not had a day off to catch up on housework.
Today has been a little spendy as I've topped up on diesel, spent £60 ish on groceries and a further £10 on birthday cards ( 4 in the coming week). I've paid a deposit for the staff Christmas meal and need to pay the other half when we go, so will need to bear that in mind.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I spent much of yesterday being a taxi...now that DD2 has less shifts, she is very conscious of the cost of petrol so asked me to take her to a town about 15 miles away. I haven't been there for a while and there has been much development of bigger out of town stores, so it has a massive Bee and M and a farm frozen foods place. I find places like that overwhelming..it's just too big! Thankfully DD seemed to know what she wanted so we didn't have to be there for too long. I did pop into a garden centre on the way home and got a present for my mum. It's her birthday today and my dad has organisedgoing out for Sunday lunch altogether.
The rest of the day seemed to disappear just doing housework. The puppies continue to leave a trail of destruction. This week they got a pair of my glasses that were on a worktop and managed to damage the side of the bath :huh::shocked:. They also ate a present that DD had bought someone for Christmas, so now that her things are affected she has agreed that they need to be contained to one area when we are out. Between DD2, DS1 and myself, we have most of the week covered as our days off are different, so it's just Thursday that needs more planning.
DD3 helped me to make a cake for my mum. It's amazing the things that I forget we have as they are right at the back of the baking cupboard. We discovered a silicone giant cupcake mould and a Christmas tree shaped mould. The giant cupcake looked fun, so we baked one of those and just need to ice it later. An older friend celebrated a significant birthday so we made her a lemon drizzle cake and delivered that. I need to crack on and get the tins refilled at some point today.
I have lots of work I need to get done for tomorrow:(, so will need to allow plenty of time for that. I'm really noticing the effect of working the extra day last week.
The ex didn't show up yesterday ( Sat is usually his day to see the children), neither did he let any of them know he wasn't coming. I'm feeling a little edgy because from past experience, there is a strong possibility that he will turn up today and offer the children a different activity in a bid to stop them having a birthday lunch with my parents. Some of the children missed their grandfather's significant birthday earlier in the year due to him doing this. It's horrible for everyone, especially the children who are then put in an impossible position.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Delurking to say I hope you don't have a situation with your ex . I read your thread and you seem to get on with stuff and are so busy that I don't know how you cope with it all as well as working.
The sooner you are shot of him in a legal way the better . Plus I hope you put some visitation rights in place . It is so out of order him not turning up on the day he should . Plus him using the bath when he comes is so wrong .
Have a good day with your family and enjoy the lunch. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Oh HSL I really hope ex doesn't. He takes far too much advantage of your good nature. If he does turn up I hope you've all already gone out.0
