Sounds like that Pinch of Nom Budget book was worth buying. I have a couple of their other books and they're pretty useful too. Think I might have a look at that one next time I'm in Tesco as I know they stock it. If I think it's worth it for me I'll order it from the big river company as it's cheaper on there!

It's such a satisfying feeling visiting the tip. I always think so once you've started to leave and know you've got rid of stuff anyway!September 2017 Debt = £25330

Can't believe you're still on-going with getting rid of exes stuff. By the time it's all gone, your house will have doubled in size with all the space

Thank you SH, Lucielle, Joedenise, Spendless, Willowtree222 and EH.
Willowtree222 - you are right! It is a good feeling to know that the clutter is definitely gone when it’s been offloaded at the tip!EH - Thank you…I do feel happier. I think a combination of knowing that the mortgage has all gone through and feeling more secure in my home coupled with having time with SO.
Ventured into work at Job 1 and realised I need to be working hard in the coming week in order to get the room ready for the start of term. Made a small start but need to do lots more!
Today ( Sat) SO drove us all to a beach further up the coast. It was lovely to be on quite a big beach and feel the sea breeze. Our teenagers were happy to go around the nearby shops. Unless there is a plant in the offing, I can’t get enthusiastic about shopping 😂.
Extra DD turned 18 this week. It’s been a tricky few weeks with her as her concept of work ethic and mine are very opposite. I have come to the point where I feel I can’t subsidise a lounge around lifestyle. Despite the example of my older DDs working and my jobs and chats about budgeting etc nothing has changed and I honestly don’t know how to help her. Long story short, she has moved back with her own family today. I will always help her wherever I can but I can’t help her with her current lifestyle choice.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . I think the extra DD moving back is best for all concerned. You don’t need the stress and it’s unfair that you subsidise her if she can’t be bothered to work.I can’t believe the ex left so much stuff behind must be his warped idea of still having a stake in your life. Glad you’re getting rid.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

It is difficult when you have different work ethics. She knows you’re there if needed

It must have been difficult trying to negotiate with/bring up extra DD when she' so different from you. I suspect the whole nature/nurture debate has a part in it, odd through that sounds. A friend was brought up alongside her foster-sister and they really are chalk and cheese when it comes to work ethic - yet they grew up in the same household. As Lucielle says, she knows you are there if she needs you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thank you SA, Lucielle and Cherryfudge.
Yesterday was a weird day…I hadn’t slept well having felt quite churned up about extra DD, so was feeling quite tired. Took DS3 to a family service in the village church followed by time at the park. It was distinctly Autumnal yesterday, so everyone was feeling a bit chilly but encouraged the children to add layers rather than thinking about the heating in August!
Hoping to split today between work prep for Job 1 and clearing more of the back garden.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
