Great result in getting DS1 to accept your original proposal 😁 When my DS lived with us he was a nightmare to get board out of, always late paying, always had to remind him several times and he always begrudged parting with every penny. He once even had the cheek to ask me what I did with his board 😆 Now he's got a house and family of his own he nags DD because he thinks I don't charge her enough board. I had to laugh when he said to her 'have you got any idea how much it costs to run a house'. To be fair she pays her board every 4 weeks by standing order and buys and cooks her own food. He also moans about teenagers hanging around in the street, he's obviously forgotten he used to be a teenager that hung around in the street with his mates 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

I agree with SA- we`ve all been there! All of my 3 boys moaned/winged about paying rent but then turned out to be very savvy when they had their own homes!5

I find it quite amusing listening to everyone's complaints. When I lived at home I had no problem paying rent to my mum and even increased it at one point voluntarily as didn't think I was paying enough. I'd also then buy bits of shopping etc to help out. But then I worked part time from age of 16 and paid my way through my driving lessons, my own cars etc as my parents were on WTC so I knew they couldn't really afford to pay it for me.

Thank you Cherryfudge, Spendless, SA, Janb5, Sarahwithlove & Lucielle - I confess I did have a chuckle to myself that he had finally accepted my first proposal. DD1 is quite robust with him and has pointed out ( having shared a house at uni) that my proposal was not awful but a generous one.
Today has not been the most productive of days. Much of it has been taken up with home learning, which is definitely necessary but the day seems to have vanished. Unfortunately it has been wet all day so no walk either😒.
Still, homemade lasagne for tea and I confess I did buy a bunch of daffodils today. I figured we could do with a splash of colour in the kitchen! I did spot the catkins in full colour today as I drove home from dropping DD1 to work, so much to be thankful for.
MSE wise the direct debits have left my account so another £60 paid off🙂.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Thank you SA, SH and Cherryfudge.
Its been quite a wet week here, so it was a relief to get to yesterday and be able to get out for a walk in the afternoon. We did a 3 mile circular route around the very edges of the villages but primarily sticking to public footpaths through fields. There were several stiles to climb which added to the fun. The bottom edges of the fields were like streams, even the fields that are high up and usually well drained, just goes to show how much rain we have had in recent days. The snowdrops are everywhere at the moment, rather than in isolated clumps and what a joy they are to see! We saw a few primroses yesterday in odd sheltered spots and the first crocuses have started to add some colour. The camellia in the garden has been flowering since the 4th December and is still showing a beautiful display of pink.
Another week has flashed by at work.Yesterday was quite productive. I took DD1 to work at 6am, did the weekly shop in a very quiet Mr T’s and was home again by 7.15. I tackled some decorating in the utility room yesterday - it looks so much better and fresher. I washed down the walls of the separate toilet cloakroom and hope to get that painted today.
DD1 has been experimenting with making homemade marshmallows. I had no idea how to even begin making them. This week we have had salted caramel flavour which were amazing when added to a mug of hot chocolate and yesterday it was a lime and coconut flavour. The lime was really good at cutting through the sweetness of the marshmallow.
Money wise, a couple of direct debits have come out so have come off the debt balance - £ by £ it’s going down!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
