You are such a great Mum. Your walks sound wonderful! I’m in awe of your growing also. You’ve inspired me to start a little veg patch. My Mum taught me when I was growing up and we used to sell stuff we didn’t need. It’s a fond memory I’d forgotten about until now. Off to hunt out my seeds! I’ve had a lovely week this week. Work has been busy but in a coping way, not an overwhelming way. I celebrated a birthday this week. DD2 was very sweet and took me out for dinner. When I asked her if she was sure, she responded that I always take everyone else out on their birthdays so she wanted to do it for me. It was an enjoyable evening and always good to spend time with each child on an individual basis.
I’m thankful that we have the NHS as DD2 cut herself on a knife this week, as she was clearing up. It was strapped up by the first aider but I’m very thankful for the NHS who checked it, glued and dressed the wound and advised us. Didn’t know it was possible to get glue for wounds!
My seed order arrived this week, so am hoping that I can get a fair amount sown over the weekend. The mangetout have germinated and are looking sturdy. I have cerinthe, cornflowers, cucumber, beetroot and antirhhinums to sow. The mint is starting to grow at the allotment. I originally sowed a 2 litre pot containing a mint plant a few years ago. The pot was sunk into the ground as per advice in gardening books, but I noticed that mint is now coming up across the whole bed and creeping onto the path. I don’t mind though, at least it’s mint growing and not lots of weeds!
I think the mediator has written to the ex as over the last 10 days or so, he has stopped turning up unexpectedly. Consequently I’ve felt much calmer and less stressed.
Quite a bit of panic buying going on locally. Mr T now has signs up restricting customers to 5 of essential items. Toilet roll, hand soap and paracetamol shelves are much depleted. I haven’t bought anything extra as quite simply my budget won’t stretch. I have an amount that I spend weekly but that is it. I do menu plan before shopping so I know exactly what I’m getting each week. I tend to buy flour weekly, so we do have a good amount of flour. At least if I have that I can make bread, pastry or cakes🙂.
Its so good to see the evenings starting to draw out. Driving home from work in daylight is wonderful! Not long now til the clocks go forward 😀.

Today has been busy but not in the ways I intended! DS3 had his pre-school injections today. ( Another thankful for the NHS moment). DS was really brave and hugged the nurse afterwards! We did pop to the beach after that. We haven’t been for a few weeks, so it was wonderful to get a blast of sea air, fill our lungs and have a good walk. Well I walked and DS ran everywhere! The recent storms have hit the coastline over the last few weeks. What was a huge sandy beach is much more pebbly and shaley which did give us lots of opportunity to pore over the shells and stones and occasional pieces of sea glass that we could see.
I popped to Mr T’s this evening to do my weekly shop, as I usually do every Friday evening. I was stunned. Loo roll had been depleting through the week, as I’d noticed mid week when I top up shop for milk. This evening though was something else. There was no flour to be had, no eggs at all, no pasta, except a few boxes of lasagne sheets, very little rice, tinned beans were much depleted as were the tinned tomatoes/passata. I did my usual shop, but felt like I needed a badge that said “ mum of many” to justify my shopping. The thing I did see that I thought was a good move, was the provision of dettol wipes / spray and tissue to be able to clean trolley handles. I remember listening to a radio programme a few months ago that said trolley handles were one of the most germ filled places we could put our hands, so I thought the provision of cleaning products was timely.

Hi HSL - no wipes at any shops I've been to. H&B seem to still have quite a bit of tinned stuff. Weirdly i could get pasta and beans at my M&S - tried to order loo roll online but said delivery could be June so just cancelled!!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good old NHS indeed - I hope your daughter's cut soon heals. And it's a relief to have immunisations out of the way, how sweet of your DS to hug the nurse!
I will probably get to the supermarket either tomorrow or Monday so I'm not sure what I'll find. Fresh produce was still plentiful last time I looked and I have decided it's like wartime and I need to make do with what's available. Actually wartime is a good one to look back to as people became very resourceful and had to make the most of local produce, thus leaving us a legacy of (pasta free) ideas and recipes that may turn out to be useful.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
