I am so glad you were able to get to your daughter. Hope she has recovered well. Sounds like a tiring journey (that's been and to come).

I too am incensed on your behalf re your Ex. Hope you get that sorted soon.

Your goals for new year sound simple and positive. I've set myself some challenges and will see how I do with them

I can't believe he'll go off leaving children unaccompanied! That's so uncaring. :( It must help a lot to have older children who will help out though.

Unfortunately experience has taught me this. Having DD2 and DD3 in particular is a help, though I try to make sure I don't ask them too often. Hence the younger ones will be up for the road trip tomorrow!

  • The sooner that the business is sorted out with your ex then the better. I didn't think there were many as bad as mine, but I think yours might be...
Happy New Year, and decade - you have the same outlook on the 10's as I do - it wasn't always awful but there's more there I'd' rather forget than remember.
  • Thank you CCL, that sums up the 10s succinctly. I'm thankful for DS3 being born in the 10s but quite a lot of pain I'd rather leave in the past.

Today hasn't been quite as productive as I'd hoped. I'm getting older and can't bounce back from such late nights:rotfl:. I've managed to take the Christmas decorations down and will shortly return them to the attic. The living room is tidied and hoovered and the fire glowing nicely :). Egg and bacon pie has been made and consumed but still quite a lot of cake remains so no need to bake just yet;).

I'm thinking of reducing the legal standing order for a month. At the moment I have a healthy balance but could do with the breathing space as I hadn't anticipated the double uni trip ( although I do normally make this, plans had been different this holiday). January looks to be quite a tight month, so planning carefully.

Unfortunately not a NSD as I ran out of teabags:eek:.

  • The direct debits / standing orders went out today, so the EF is looking a little healthier and another £25 has been cleared off a debt. At one point there seemed more in my account than I'd anticipated until I realised I hadn't sorted the council tax. I pay online but haven't got it on direct debit. Glad I could see where the discrepancy was and quickly.

DD1 decided to postpone her going back until tomorrow, so it's been lovely to have an extra day with her, even if we have both been sat at the kitchen table working away. I've been able to get some work tasks done which will mean I can drive without worrying about all I need to do for next week :).

Pasties made for tea. It was quite relaxing rolling out the pastry, more taxing remembering everyone's requirements!!

I was very thankful for the recycling truck coming round today. We seemed to have a cardboard mountain from Christmas packaging and parcels, but that is all cleared now :).

Hiya, just to say check with your local council that if you pay your council tax by D/D then you pay 10 months with two months free- January and February which is a bonus.
  • hello Honeysuckle just dropping by to say Happy New Year XX

our recycling is coming tomorrow, also glad to get shot of the packaging XX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Thank you Janb5. I pay over 10 months but get Feb and March free. This year DS1 will turn 18 so I may end up paying slightly extra in Feb to cover from his birthday to the start of the financial year.
