How do I convert my Euro coins to Sterling?

I have returned from Spain, possibly for the final time, and have 9 euros to convert back into about £7.50.
3 of those euros are in coins, but no bank or PO will take them.
So how do I convert them, or am I now stuck with them forever?
And why don't they convert them??

I don't know of any place that converts coins but I'm intrigued how you came to have a €6 note.0

I said 9 as a rounded up figure. I can be exact if you need me to.0

You sell them to someone who is going there soon.
Coins are more expensive to process than notes.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
so basically, if u have coins back from Spain, ur stuffed. Why are that more expensive to process? Money is money...?!0

mmmm ta. Bad rate, and costs probably a a high percentage of a small amount to post. And if you want to guarantee it gets there, it probably costs more than you are sending.0

It's never a great rate to convert back to Sterling, and I've never seen anywhere that takes coins. I'd imagine most people keep left over coins for next Eurozone trip, it's not like the old days where leftover money from Spain can only be spent in Spain.
I keep a holiday purse, and it's always nice to find a few euro coins when I get it out for my heat trip.
If you are really bothered about £7.50, why not sell them to someone going on holiday soon?0 -
Don't worry: just spend the coins. You don't have to go to Spain but can use them all over France and Germany. Even if your passport has expired, many places in touristy regions of the UK would accept them: probably you could exchange your Euro for a cup of coffee at a major attraction.0

200 X 50 cent coins take a bit longer to count than a €100 note. They also take up more storage space.
When I worked for a bank managing quantities British coin was time consuming, bulky and completely unprofitable.
Keep your foreign stuff until you or a friend next go to a foreign place or next time stick it in the charity envelope on the plane home.0 -
All good points here. It's only £7.50 or £8. One day I may go to Ireland! lol.0
