I tried to sort out one of the desk drawers in my room yesterday morning, only thing I found that I can definitely throw out without any questioning was a special edition tobacco tin(I know - smoking is naughty! :o )

We accumulated about 5 of these over the course of a couple months just before they changed all the packaging of cigarettes and tobacco. 1 went to my aunt, 1 to my mum and my boyfriend and I kept the other 3. We started using 1 to house all of his tiny model kit pieces in one place and the other 2 were just sat in the drawer for us to have 1 each. I have just decided that I'm going to bin my current mangled tobacco tin and start using one of these special edition tins :o

Mum and I had a mother and daughter day on Saturday and went to not the nearest city but a different one slightly further away where a Primark has recently opened. They now sell those acrylic makeup organisers for £2 so I picked one up. Being able to see what I have has meant I have started wearing makeup :j which in turn means that items in that department will get used up now :o

I am also on a self imposed clothes shopping ban. I am in my work clothes 5 days a week which means I only have 2 days of the week to wear outdoor clothes. I wear lounge clothes(basically clothes I wouldn't be seen dead in outside the house :rotfl: ) in the mornings before going to work and in the evenings when I get home. I have noticed a hole developing in 1 t shirt and 1 of my pairs of work trousers so that'll be 2 items gone once the holes are too big - the trousers will get thrown away this week as that hole is actually getting quite big and I have already purchased a replacement pair.

Making a good dent in all the food we have in the house too :D

I ate this big block of marzipan as it was the other week as the date was coming up on it and we'll never use it for icing a cake! The other half and I also demolished a box of trifle sponges that were out of date but they were still sealed and they tasted fine :o

Mum and I sorted out the fridge and the crap corner in the same sitting and found several large multipacks of crisps and enough multipacks of chocolate to fill a carrier bag  There are only a few individual bags of crisps and individual chocolate bars left now and mum is trying to buy more fruits and vegetables :o

Forgot to mention in either of my previous posts - I've been rather spendy still over the last couple weeks :(

    BUT!!!

I am also making a conscious effort to try and use up things we already have here.

We now have only 2 older food items in the kitchen(half a jar of marmite that's being used in sandwiches and on toast as often as possible, and a pepper mill with only a little bit left - we prefer the ready ground pepper powder stuff).

I have used up all of the drabs of shampoos, conditioners shower gels etc that people had left in the bathroom.

As I said in a previous post(I think!) I had acquired a whole load of Avon things from my mum that she said she'll never use, I have incorporated these items into my various morning/evening/shower/getting-ready-for-work routines, along with products of my own I already had and I can see that they are going down :D

I will hopefully be back to basics before too long! I honestly do not feel like I need all of these lotions, potions and creams but I'm sure my hair, skin and nails are most certainly appreciating it! :rotfl:

By no means do I have a solid routine in place which uses each and every product religiously, but the current system I have going on, well, it's a start, and it's saving perfectly good items from landfill, or from languishing in someone elses house :o

That's mainly why I agreed to take them off my mums hands - "if no one else will use them, I will!" :o

One thing I am feeling pretty guilty about tho is the other week I threw away 2 unused, unopened lip makeup items, but I had bought them about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm sure they still would have been good, but I only spent less than a tenner on both of them together. See what's happening here? I'm kicking myself about it, and then justifying it! :rotfl:

Someone please tell me it doesn't matter one bit and make me forget about it now?! :rotfl:

  • Just helped mum sort out the cupboard under the sink

A small plastic storage box full of rolls of different types of bags with our councils name all over them pulled out and set aside to get rid of(in some way) as our council don't collect these anymore and the bags are basically useless now.

A few almost empty bottles of different types of cleaners/polishes/sprays etc pulled out and put on window sill above sink so mum can grab them easily to use them up.

Shelves cleaned and everything else(mainly new/sealed) put back neatly :o
